Week 11 [11.06-17.06.2018] Instagram vs. Real Life

Instagram vs. Real Life

Nowadays there is a huge amount of photos “Instagram vs Reality” which can actually make you motivated or depressed.
In this short article I would like to bring this topic a little bit closer and present real pictures but at the beginning I would like to present the general assumptions of the Instagram.
As we all probably know, Instagram is a social media app where we can upload photos and short videos and it’s its main functionality. There are no groups, no information page, no subpages, just your profile, profiles of  photos and hashtags, actually billions of hashtags.
Each time you upload anything you can create your own hashtags connected somehow with this specific moment and of course you can make your account public or private.

Below we can find some data, which clearly shows how huge this app is:

Founded on: October, 2010
CEO: Kevin Systrom
Headquarters: Menlo Park, CA
Employees: 550+

Instagram Statistics
Total Number of Monthly Active Instagram Users:
800 million
Total Number of Daily Active Instagram Users:
500 million

Instagram Stories Daily Active Users:
300 million
Number of Photos Shared to Date:
40 billion !!!
Number of Businesses on Instagram
25 million
Instagram was Sold for:
$1 billion
Number of Instagram Likes per day:
4.2 billion
Number of Photos uploaded per day:
95 million, up from 70 million last year
Data Last updated: 12/24/17

Now let's get back to the main topic, distortion of reality and “Instagram vs Reality” photos which are mainly not real and in general it’s a good photographer contribution.

On the saggysara profile we can find many of her “tricks” with photos.

Examples:

I’ve heard about many cases of depression caused by Instagram and “the perfect picture” of life presented on many profiles but as we can see in many cases it’s just nothing else but an illusion (btw. I’m not depressed and I have insta profile :D).
Generally, we have to be ourselves, we don’t need to create new “fancy” image because the truth will be revealed sooner or later.

Thanks for your time, below 3 simple questions, please read and answer.

Questions:
1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?

1. Yes I have the profile I use it as a social media to stay in-touch with my people, I have around 200 followers and I know mostly all of them. No, I just don't care about most photos, If someone do he or she may unfollow the photographer or delete private profile. No, I did not. I am not a pro user) #never
Yes i have and for me instagram not only a waste of time. If you don't know, instagram now a good platform for pr. It is not all about pr yourself, but pr your business or personal brand. Yes, i care about most of the photos and i think if person wants to be interesting, he/she needs to care about the photos. I'm definitely for using new functionalities of instagram and i hope it will do instagram a fully customized social media platform.
Yes, I do. I don't think that instagram is a bad thing but I freezed my profile for several times(for month and longer) just to take a break and get rid of all the shit that happens there. I realized that it is really useful to reduce time that I spend simply scrolling useless feeds where people pretend to be who they actually aren't.

I mostly try not to focus on what the others upload and find something interesting for me connected with my hobbies or I just simply try to find an inspiration in amuzing sceneries.

Yes, I have lots of ideas how to make instagram better but all of them focuses on making instagram more customizable.

No, I don't have an Instagram profile. Why? Because I doubt that people would even care about it even if I had one. Nobody cares what you are up to in your life and there is nothing bad about it. It makes sense that people are bothered by their own problems or life and not by someone's else.
Not really. But, of course, I admire beautiful photos.
I don't use it so I can't say much about it. But as far as I know, Instagram is more focused on mobile user experience, so maybe developers should also focus some attention on improving user experience of web or desktop clients.

I don't have a profile on Instagram, I don't really find it useful for me. I'm not bothered by the contents of the photos, people can post whatever they want. I don't know what functionalities would make it better, if I knew that I would create such an app and became filthy rich ;)

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
Yes, I do have an Instagram account. I keep it, to have an opportunity to see my friends photos.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
No, I'm not, just subscribe on right people.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
No, in my opinion they've reached their limit.

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
No, I don't. I even consider deleting Facebook profile. I think it is mostly a time-consuming device that feed you useless data and images. I think I would accomplish more without social media than with them.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
Actually, yes. I think that people are now self-made, but they also "cheat" a bit when they come to their image. But it influences the real picture they have of themselves and others have of them. It causes some not true assumptions about people and their lives.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
I really don't I think that Instagram bases on its minimal functionality - only hashtags and no personal data. Therefore I don't think that Instagram board would be seeking any new functionalities.
I have an instagram profile only beacuse my friend asked me to make one, and yes she's a girl... It is hard to be bothered by instagram if you do not watch it =) What i am bothered by is the fact that people spend huge amount of time editing photos posing just for these sweet likes girls cannot live without. The best functionality for instagram is the lack of one, this exact social media is pure cancer in my opinion.

I don't have a profile on Instagram, because I don't feel a constant need to share every moment of my life by posting a picture. Also I'm neither a girl nor a rich guy with a beard, so what would I post there? ;P I wouldn't say that I'm bothered by them, but I don't really understand the phenomenon of this app, for me it's a bit like a platform for people who hardly want to show off and desire other's people attention and admiration. If scrolling Facebook is a waste of time, then Instagram is a super-waste of time, in my opinion at least. I don't have any ideas for new Instagram functionality as I don't use it and don't know what it actually has now.

1. Yes I have and sometimes watch my friends videos and photos, oh and also couple of followed users like sport stars etc. However I don’t share my own photos anymore.
2. When it comes to boredom of some profiles I generally follow only interesting stuff. I opened just out of curiosity the recommendation page on Instagram (basically open public gallery) and found nothing special or interesting.
3. Not really, I’m not a fan of Instagram or similar services. This just is an unimportant application on my phone that sits there and from time to time use it without any expectations.
Nah, i have deleted my account as im not into takeing any photos. I think best pictures are always in your memory and that what make those special. Also i dont really understand point of instagram. Why would you want to publish your personal stuff.

Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
Yes I have, but I post almost nothing, just have because I have.
Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
I observe only closes friends or some good profiles. And I do not see anything whats should bother.
Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
No, but maybe snapchat has another.
Unknown said…
I have a very similar opinion and I also think that Instagram should be more customizable.
Thanks
Yes I do have profile on Instagram but I am not using it at all. I have never add any photo by myself I'm just not that kind of person. It is my private life and I don't have need to share it with other people. Well on instagram everything looks perfect wich sometimes could be overwhelming, usually people share theirs food there which is fine by me but it is like 70 % of photos on instagram, other 20 % will be nudity and the last 10 % normal and interesting pictures ( I am not saying that nudity is not interesting :)).
Unknown said…
In my opinion people are curious about other people lifes for example movie stars and they are often trying to follow their behaviour, lifestyle etc.
I agree, on desktop app We can't even use chat so they absolutely need to improve few things.
Thanks
Yes, I have profile in Instagram and last time I do only photos that make impression of "Perfect life" and I see a lot of similar pictures in another profiles but I don't bothered about this because I understand that this pictures only very small part of real life and they made specially to make this impressions and also to be beautiful so in most cases I just don't care. I think that Instagram is like Twitter only for photos. I don't see any possibility to improve main functionality for Instagram. They only can add not main functionality like direct messages and stories.

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
No, because I don't need it to be awesome. For me it's more important to have own life than trying to pretend someone you are not.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
I'm not visiting Instagram often. And most of the time I'm there is by mistake and miss click in the Internet.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
No and I don't want to think about it - I'm not a huge fan of this service and don't really want to improve it in anyway.
Unknown said…
1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
Nope. Don't feel like shearing some private moments with the world.
2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
For most of the time I don't care. Don't have a lot of photos either.
3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
Never used it so no idea at all.

1. I signed up for Instagram ~2 years ago but I don’t use it at all as I am wasting enough time on Facebook. I should think about deleting my Instagram account.
2. I like some good photos from interesting places or events but I am not into following other people’s daily activities.
3. I have no idea how Instagram could be improved as I don’t use it.

Yes, I do have the profile on Instagram. It is useful when I do not have anything to do, so I don't visit it too often. To be honest I don't understand the phenomenon of Instagram. People these days are freaked about how many likes their photo will get. I use the Instagram to follow and discover new tattoo artists. It's a good place to meet new ones.

I do have an Instagram profile, but I use it really rarely. I use it mainly for the purpose of connecting with other people, watching their stories and what they're doing. It helps especially, when I want to still be in touch with some of my high school colleagues which I don't meet as much as I did back then. It's all a matter of how we use it.
I'm not bothered about the content of the photos that people post. I just don't really care about it. It's obvious that some of the photos on such a large network created specifically for the purpose of posting them could turn out to be really bizzare, but who are we to judge?
The idea of Instagram is to keep it simple, so I wouldn't really introduce the functionalities that would make it filled with unnecessary stuff. Instead, I would add a possibility to adjust the extensions that we use and manage it the way that we want to.

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?

Yes, but it's main purpose is to let me check photos or videos of my friends, or people that I want to follow. Some time ago I've even posted few photos, but right now I'm not doing it.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?

Yes. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand why do people post very weird or very personal photos. It's on the internet and you have to know, that once it goes in, it never goes out.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?

No. I think that it is good as it is

No I don`t have instagram account and I don`t want to make one, because I don`t need any kind of social media where my photos will be stored. If I need photos to be stored somewhere it definitely would be a hashed by myself pendrive or harddrive.

Yes, I have an instagram profile since 2010, I am interested in photography, I can keep in touch with my friends from my home country and it is also kind of diary for me. I think it is a bit stupid to criticize and blame the application, cause itself it doesn't harm anyone. If you spend time searching for the reasons to raise your complexes it's your own business. Instagram, like the whole web is just an instrument. And it is only you who decide how to use it. You can find lot of useful information, inspiration, tutorials, beautiful travel destinations there. The ones who think it is useful just don't know how to use it. It is always easier to criticize then to try to understand. Of course many people use it to show their fake life, but you are not obliged to follow them. Just choose normal people and interesting accounts. About functionalities - I liked the good old Insta before InstaStories and all that stuff. But the world is changing, life becomes faster, so we just have to get used to it and fight with conservativeness. But I don't really like changes, so I don't want new functionalities, now it's enough for me.

1. No I thought once about creating a profile but I don’t feel like I have a need to share my pictures. Most importantly because they aren’t very good. And whenever I go or travel I find taking pictures distracting and tiring.
2. It’s hard to believe it’s just angles. There must be some other trickery involved. It only shown that pictures don’t paint the whole image 😊
3. No I don’t know and don’t care.

Yes, I have a profile on Instagram but I use that only for news from people who I like. I don't have any photos and I don't think that I will change it in the near future. As I said, Instagram is a good place for artists, athletes etc. because they can inform about interesting events, they life or something new in their activities. Additionally, I'm following a few singers because they are sharing some songs trailers before released date.
In my opinion, Instagram collect a good content but I hate women who are very provocative on their photos. I like sunsets, nature and food on the photos but I don't like fake (as you mentioned, the same person but different light, pose and with a clear conscience I can say that there are two different persons) posts. In my opinion, Instagram shouldn't be place for their nude bodies.
I think that actual Instagram's functionalities are appropriate for me but they should change they content policy. I hope that it will change in the future.
Unknown said…
I agree, many content on instagram is just created ilussion.
Unknown said…
I think exactly the same.
Insta is a good place to add trailers and reach a wide audience.

1. Yes, I have a profile on Instagram.
2. No, absolutely, everyone lays out information about themselves, and I like their content, so I subscribe and see what others are doing. Do I post pictures? yes, but one photo in half a year and preferably without a face and without me at all, I'm an active user Instagram from people who like to view pages than to exhibit their photos. My favorite content is short funny videos and cars.
3. No, there are no ideas, and I'm completely satisfied with the tag search and recommendations provided by Instagram itself.

I'm not criticizing whole instagram but specific content and group of people.
As you said, there are many interesting profiles, tutorials, people with passion etc.
Thanks for comment, take care ;)

Instagram is very helpful for artists because it's a very good advertising tool with huge range.
Unknown said…
Unfortunately it's exactly as you wrote but if you follow appropriate persons you can find there really interesting and valueable content.

Nowadays many people are trying to get attention and instagram is perfect tool to achieve that if you upload proper photos.

I do not have profile on Instagram. I have never been social-media person. For a long time I didn't even have Facebook profile. Now I using it only for Messenger purpose. I don't know even why, I just don't like sharing my life to the internet.
If it really can cause depression, then yes I am bothered. There was always fake and tweaked photos, but now everyone can do it, and sadly they are doing it in a big way.
I not a instagram user so I don't know what would be a next great future.

Yes, I have Instagram. I mainly use it to watch the stories of others or photos, sometimes I put something up myself. But sometimes I'm terrified what people put on the story. I know everything about some people even though I don’t know them. Zero privacy, I know what they eat, what they buy for the whole day. I prefer to put as little information as possible about myself. This can bring more damage than benefits. Generally, I sometimes get annoyed with Instagram ads. I prefer to watch it on the computer because there are no ads there

1)I have my Instagram account and i really like it. The main reason why i start using insta was that i love photography. It's really good place to see how other people make photos and how various views we have.

2) I'm not bothered by photos on Insta because when i start feel like that i just umfollow this account. It's simple. People are fighting for our likes so if they start bother me i just stop to give it them.

3) It can be good way to check places for ex. For our travel. It can be like portals when we can find opinions about places like hotels and restaurants with oryginal, clients photos.

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
Yes, I have. It's my favorite social media app. You know, a lot of musicians I listen to have IG, so I can be closer with them. You can see what's happening in their life, etc. I think that's the main reason.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
No, because things that you see on your wall, are from profiles that you're following. Which means, that I see only things, that I'm interested in.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
Hmm. Maybe reduce the number of ads on main page...
Unknown said…
Yes, I have it but since I realised it doesn't give me anything but stress and jealousy I stopped using it daily, and now I log in once in a while. I used to be bothered about the content, but then I realised that photos have no real connection to peoples real life. We should not be worried that we do not have such remarkable life as shown in pictures there. We should focus on ourselves and our closes relatives and friend. Excellent trips or muscle should only give us a motivation or ideas what humans - we are capable of.

I have no idea of any new functionality that Instagram has recently introduced.

yes if its about showing a lot o nudity , there is no point and also little kids
3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?

1. I have a profile on Instagram but I have there 3-4 photos which I have added few years ago. Now I don't have this application on my phone and I have never been an active user of this app.

2. I have to say that I don't care about content of pictures there. I think that now applications like Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook are only machines for earning money. It is a huge hoarding with tons of advertisments which are hollow for me.

3. I think that they have enough functionalities. I am tired of any of social apps and I prefer face to face contact with other people. Only what I need is a solution for communication with people with I know (something like Messenger but without a Facebook account). After that I would be able to remove all of my social accounts.

1) Do you have a profile on Instagram? Why/Why not?
No, I generally don't have an urge to run one.

2) Are you bothered by the content of most photos?
I take a lot of photos, I own a few cameras. I'm immune to all that bothering stuff.

3) Do you have any idea for a new Instagram functionality?
That's what they have is fairly enough. I think they should remove bots, and control some fake content,.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
