Week 11 [09.01-15.01] Mazda MX-5 phenomenon

Have you ever dreamed of leaving your house on a sunny day, getting into your car, and just driving somewhere looking around like Red Hot Chili Peppers in the Scar Tissue music video?

Or maybe having a “drifting” session with friends in some empty (of course!) parking lot?

Guess what, you’re not alone. In fact, the number of people thinking the same way is so big it broke the  Guinness world record for best selling two-seater sport car ever (over a million units sold! )
Have you ever heard of mazda mx-5? This little vehicle is so mind-boggling that it has taken hearts of many car enthusiasts. Mazda mx-5 is a two-seater sport car launched back in 1989. Short body, rear-wheel-drive and the fact it’s a roadster (lack of traditional roof) made this model so unique it’s still been manufactured. Because of its popularity, it’s pretty cheap (older generations of course).

But what exactly is all the fuss about?

Maybe it’s because of their happy looking front. You can’t be sad approaching this car. Just look at it’s “face” ! It’s so excited to go for a ride !

This characteristic look stayed in all other generations. Although I feel designers decided to go with a bit more evil look with the new ones.

Of course, it’s not all about the looks. All mx-5s are provided with rather small, economic engines. I won’t lie, it’s not crazy fast. However, the fact the driver sits so low in a car compensates for the lack of horsepower and still provides sporty sensations.
The real power of this car is in its handling. Thanks to its perfect weight distribution and rear-wheel-drive miatas (that’s how the model is named in US) they are made to drive on some B roads with a lot of turns. Amateur drivers can’t be wrong! Despite its rather weak acceleration, mx-5 is great in tracks.

Over the years Mazda mx-5 managed to gather a lot of fans around the globe. Its community is still growing due to its fantastic new model. There is something so charming about the car that it is destined to succeed. It’s a small car with a small trunk, engine, one passenger seat, and a huge heart :)

Have you ever heard of this car before?
What do you think about it?

Every time I think about Mazda you mentioned I think about NFS: Underground 2. That's quite decent car for young people. For me it's too small. I would rather have a little more bigger car like RX-7 or RX-8. Is there hard-top option available for Mazda MX5?
Robert how do you feel about Honda S2000? It seems very similiar to Mazda MX5.

Personally I prefer SUVs as I like to sit high (at least for daily use), but Mazda MX-5 is an awesome car. I'm a big fan of motorization. I know quite a lot about cars and I've driven more than 40 of them on roads and racetrack. MX-5 is really great and also has very good price-quality/performance ratio. If you don't mind it being a 2-seater. I asked my girlfriend once how much does she think it costs just from the looks (the newest one) and she answered with 350 thousand zlotys (price of some chipper new Porsche's), when in fact it is 'only' around 110k.

Of course I have heard about Mazda mx-5. Personally I drove previous model. It had 200hp and I had situation that I gave too much power and twisted. This power is very much for a small car like this. Not long time ago my friend bought the newest model of Mazda mx-5. I'm thinking why because this car is too small for me and my friend is taller than me. I always liked MX-5 but it is not practical car. Personally I have two-seater cabrio car but bigger than Mazda. If you want two-seater car you must have second practical car. Now my cabrio is in the garage in winter.

There is a hard top for MX-5. It's not really an option, more like alternative roof you install in it. With this on you could easily drive it during winter.

I like S2000. It's a really unique car, but it's faaar more expensive than Mazda and I've heard that it's super hard to find one that wasn't modified by owners.

Which cabrio do you have? I think when it comes to power in such small cars it can be really dangerous. I've heard that it's connected to having short wheelbase.

The newest one looks cool. Have you seen MX-5 RF ? Looks like a proper spy car.

I have no interest in the automotive industry and I have not heard about this car. It reminds me of the main character from the movie "Cars." If I had an unlimited budget to buy a car, I decided on a large off-road car, which Polish roads would be nothing horrible to ride and I could enter into the woods without fear of buried in the mud.

I'm not interested in cars and I don't find anything exciting in cars unless there's some interesting technology, but as any 90s kid I played NFS Underground 2 so I've been "driving" it for a while:)

I have heard about it but in my opinion, most Japanese cars are bland. They're the kind of car you buy after making a list. "I want four doors, trunk that big, car this long, price around whatnot" and so on. In the worst case, you get an optical miracle like the Toyota Prius: it's bland, boring and ugly, I had considered that combination impossible before. Personally, I never found any Japanese car interesting enough to even consider buying it.

Even Honda NSX? :)

Large cars have flaws as well. If you drive around in a "tank" parking in the city centre is very problematic. Also your car can be to big for some underground parkings. My uncle once had this situation. He had to ask random people from the street to enter his car, so it could get lower. After inviting 4 men on board car finally managed to drive under the pipe.

I heard about this car, but for me it is not anything special. Ordinary small car. I prefer suv or limousine. For me more exciting car is BMW M3 :D

I enjoy small and sport cars as well as SUVs, because:
a) the small and sport cars are awesome and I enjoy testing them in order to get the experience and have my opinion on them, and also because they are just very fast and usually very sensitive, just as Mazda MX-5;
b) SUVs are very comfortable cars and I feel safe and sound on the daily basis while driving;
Regarding Mazda I am not a huge fan of this car, but I definitely know it is a small but crazy car :D I also think of it as a classic.
Fortunately my uncle owns it and I have been taking this car for a ride as well as my uncle have been taking me for a ride. I must say the engine growls as we accelerate dynamically and it sounds really ominous and dangerous but it sure increases the adrenaline and intensifies the driving experience. I would definitely encourage every guy to take a ride with this car :-) feels refreshing :D

I have to admit that I always wanted to have one of those bad boys. I know it is not as useful as normal car, but combination of its looks, price and opinion among users makes me want this car and use it for tourism on sunny day with roof opened. It seems that recently many companies started to produce such cars: look at Fiat 124. I would like to drive on as well.

I haven’t heard about this car before. Maybe this is due to the fact that I’m not a big fan of the automotive industry. Personally I prefer quite bigger cars. Robert how about Volkswagen New Beetle car? I heard that you are really big fun of this car, is this true?
Mazda RX-7 was one of the cars shown in the first Need For Speed series along site with Lamborghini Diablo VT and Dodge Viper. And it was just pure fantasy. Few years later RX-8 was made using Wankel engine and about 250KM of horse power. In such small and light car, was just like riding very fast Go-kart. Didn't have the change to ride RX-7 but made it happen in RX-8. I really missed MX-5 through the years - really don't know why.
I always like Mazdas in general, and I don't know why, but I'm quite sure that it's because of Need For Speed video games series :). I must admit that Mazdas look awesome, and eventually I'd want to get one myself, even though I'm not big fan of cars in general.

Old school Mazda MX-5 is a legendary car. I think, RWD made it so unique in this automotive segment. The newest model is really a fresh looking update, but personally I prefer Fiat 124 Spider, which shares with Mazda a most of its parts :)

Generally I like almost every Mazda's cars but Mazda MX-5 has it's own history and how it's said by colleague above - it's legendary car. If we are talking about Mazda, what do you think about the latest Mazda 6?

I've heard about this car. And I like look this car. I think it's good that Mazda MX-5 is not very expensive and this car have many fans. For me better car in this league is Honda S2000 but for me is too much expensive.

I am deeply into cars, and of course I know this model. But to tell the truth I prefer German or British cars. This Mazda could be a cool toy for teens as a first car, but today it doesn't make an impression. But I am agree that it really was a legend.
The best car to make me happy as a child would be Dodge Charger 1969:) yes, I am the muscle cars fan.

Oh I didn't know that they share so many parts! I prefer Mazda. It looks "meaner" :P

Hahaha literally refreshing! Since it's below zero right now a ride in MX-5 without a warm hat could even cause frostbites on your forehead

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
