Week 8 [04.12 - 10.12.2017] Most popular TV shows of 2017

You probably know the feeling when you end your favorite TV show, and suddenly feel some kind of void that needs filling. That’s why I bring you 4 series ranked among the best in 2017. Don’t worry I’ll try not to spoil anything.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is one of the most popular Netflix productions. Series is set in fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana probably in the early 80s. The first season starts with odd, supernatural incident which causes a series of stranger (pun intended) events. Main characters are a group of teenage friends that try to solve the omnipresent mystery.
The group consists of:
  • ·         Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard)
  • ·         Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo)
  • ·         Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin)
  • ·         Will Byers (Noah Schnapp)
  •        and their new friend Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown)

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend watching it.

Mindhunter

Mindhunter is a Netflix crime drama TV series, based on the book “Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit” by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. It tells the story about Holden Ford (portrayed by Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) are FBI agents working in Behavioral Science Unit. They try to understand serial killers, how they think, how they operate by interviewing imprisoned ones. They believe that understanding serial killers might help to solve ongoing cases. Season one aired October 13, 2017 and Netflix officially confirmed season 2, but unfortunately without any info about the release date.

American Gods

American Gods is a TV-series based on the book by Neil Gaiman of the same name. It tells a story about just released casino robber Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle). Couple of days before his release, his wife Laura dies in a car accident. On his way to her funeral Shadow Moon meets Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) which embroils him into war between the Old Gods and the New Gods. The first season aired from April to June on Stars network, and the series is confirmed to be renewed without specific date.

The Crown

The Crown is a drama TV show, that traces the life of young Queen Elizabeth II. Young queen (portrayed by Claire Foy) is a 25 years old women, who ascends the throne after death of her father, King George IV. As a leader of the monarchy has to maintain a stable political relationship with prime minister, Sir Winston Churchill (portrayed by John Lithgow) and also with her own family, as her own husband Prince Philip (Matt Smith). The entire second season will air on December 8, on Netflix.

My favourite TV show is Spongebob Squarepants. I haven't watched any of the above, but I've heard about Stranger Things. I've watched a few episodes of a series (I don't remember the name) but it got monotonous and boring, so I stopped.

I watched some of episodes od 'Mindhunter' and I loved it - dark, with a sense of humor, interesting theme, good acting.
I've seen some episodes od 'Strangers Thing 2' - I liked it, but I'm not the fan, I don't feel need to watch all of missing episodes.
I've heard of 'The crown', but I'm a little bit afraid that watching it will dissapoint me - I know the story, as I'm interesied into history, and I hate glitches in the movies or TV serieses.
I can't tell if I've got one favourite TV show - in last 3 months I finished few series - The Tudors, Borgias, Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Big little lies, Taboo - I really can't tell (I love Netflix).
I think that I would add Big little lies with Reese Whiterspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz and Alexander Skarsgård. This is short series, but realyy surprising.
My favourite TV show ever is True Detective season 1 (every season is different story with different actors). It has only 8 episodes, but story is really great. Second favourites would be South Park and Dragon Ball Z. Right now, Game of thrones is hottest in my opinion.
I haven't watched any of tv series mentioned above, however I want to watch Stranger Things, it's really hyped at the moment.
So, Game of thrones is one of the most popular shows right now, so it can be added to yours list. Rick and Morty is other very popular show that can be added.

I've heard about the "Strangers Things" from my girlfriend and even have seen two episodes, but I have feeling that it was produced rather for teenagers then for adults. Each dialogue with the "strange" girl reminds me the original "Blade Runner" movie, where almost every conversation is limited to a few phrases with long (too long) pauses between them.
But I can't say anything about the whole series, because a lot of good serials begins with a few not-so-exciting episodes (like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad).

I have never watched the television programs presented in the article. My favorite television program was top gear. Now it's The grand tour and "Automaniak" on TVN TURBO. I have no idea how much I would add a TV program because honestly I watch a rarely TV. I watch about an hour a day and only in the evening
Mindhunter seems interesting, but once again I'm avoiding TV series, so most likely I'll also avoid those ones. I think breaking bad is the only one I really watched.

I think my favorite TV-show is still Breaking Bad, even though I really (and I mean REALLY) liked Stranger Things. It has to be 2nd on my list :)

From the list above, I only watched Stranger Things, but I do not have very much time to watch series in general. The show is amazing, I really loved the 1st season, and the 2nd was even better. This one you have to watch if you haven't already.

A recent show I'd add to the list (even though it started airing December 2016) would be The Grand Tour, which is a car show run by the legendary trio consisting of former Top Gear presenters. Other than that, I have nothing to add, as I previously stated I do not watch many series because of the lack of spare time :(

My favorite TV show is Breaking Bad. Honestly I think that that’s because it was the first one I found when I was sick and had too much free time. I don’t have time to watch TV shows or TV generally and even if I do have I consider it as a great waste of time so I always have better things to do. That’s why I haven’t watched any of this TV shows mentioned in article. So in my opinion I’d like to add Breaking Bad to this list.
Unknown said…
My favorite TV show is Dexter . All the time you waiting for when police arrest him, but all the time he comes out of the situation. he does terrible things but helps the community. While browsing, you're always worried about the main character.
I have never watched TV shows from your list :(
I’ve watched all of the shows you’ve mentioned except of American Gods. I’ve read the book though. Every show that is on your list is beautifully made with excellent soundtrack and amazing acting. I personally liked Stranger Things best.
‘Friends’ is my favourite show - it’s timeless, dialogs are always funny and that 90’s style!

Since a long time ago, my favourite show is Sherlock by BBC. It's just more modern and upgraded version of Sherlock Holmes and I love it.
What a shame - I didn't watch any of mentioned shows. But I was about to watch The Crown and I will watch it someday for sure.
To the most popular TV shows I would add Narcos obviously. Is't really great and I highly recommend it to everyone who didn't watch it yet!

Out of those 4 I have only watched “Strangers Things” both second and first season. However, “Mindhunter” and “The Crown” sound quite interesting and maybe in the future I will give them a fair try. My favourite TV series right now is surely “Lucifer”, with this one I cannot calmly relish but crave to watch more and more. I highly recommend for everyone, especially to those who like mix of subtle fantasy and crime genre. Besides “Lucifer” I would also add “Suits” and “Black Mirror”, the first one is about mastermind attorney who rocks on New York city courts, the second is a quite dark series about the influence of technology on humanity.
My favourite TV shows are: 'Breaking bad', 'Prison Break', 'Dexter'. Who haven't seen them, i certainly recommend to watch immediately!
No, i didn't watch them, but from now i'm interested in Stranger things. You have just made an intrigue, describing that TV show )
Also i want to recommend you to watch and add to this list 'House of cards' and 'Narcos'. Two serials that were made on the true stories and have an awesome storyline.

My favorite TV-show is "Babylon-5". It is good space opera with intense plot and great characters. Many plot lines interweave with each other, sometimes episodic characters become main ones and gain their own plot line. Special effects are not gorgeous (it was the year 1994), but it is enough to enjoy epic space battles even so.

I've watched only Stranger Things from your list. I think, I'd watched "American Gods". It sounds interesting and I enjoy Neil Gaiman's works.

My favourite TV shows are still the popular animated sitcoms. I often find myself going back to the good episodes of The Simpsons and South Park.
I also enjoy watching an older British detective TV series Inspector Morse, which is centred around the mysterious crime stories and British humour.

I have seen Stranger Things from the TV shows you presented. I have a nostalgia for the 80s American suburbia and fantasy so I quite liked it. The acting was also marvellous. Millie Bobby Brown gave a remarkable performance.

I don't have favourite one. There are plenty of series that I like equally, for example: House of Cards, Peaky Blinders, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad. The problem with most of the tv-series is that some of them should be finished at season 2-3. The more seasons the series has, the more boring it becomes. That's why I stopped watching most of the series at season 3-4. I wouldn't add anything to this list, because I am not a tv-series maniac. I am not up to date with new ones.
My favorite TV show is "Black Mirror"-great Sci-Fi drama- and I'm waiting for 4th season (end of december!). Every episode of this show is whole new story so you can't be bored during watching episodes.
I was intrigued by Stranger Things- my sister recommended it to me but due to lack of time I haven't watched it yet (and any of the others TV series presented by you). I also want to watch Mindhunter.
I have no idea what to add to this list, really.
Unknown said…
My favourite TV show is probably "Game of thrones" or "House M.D". "Game of thrones" is a great show with a lot of fight, action and secrets. In "House M.D" in each episode was a new mysterious illness to cure, what was really addicting to watch. Recently, I have finished watching "Vikings" series and it was good too.
I haven't seen your series yet, but I have "Stranger Things" in my plans.
I would also add "Sherlock Holmes", TV series by BBC, to your list. Mysteries in episodes are addicting.

I don't have favourite TV series but if I really had to choose one it'd probably be Game of Thrones, Too bad it's quality fell down a little in latest seasons. I also liked "Belfer". It's very good production which could compete with foreign series if it had bigger budget.
I haven't watched any series you mentioned in article but I heard a lot of positive opinions about "Stranger things" and it's very high in my list things to see :)
I think I'd also add Black Mirror, because it's going to be released this year and it's also quite popular show.

Recently i have seen Mindhunter and i really, really liked it. Waiting for season 2. I will even buy netflix access for it. Also really liked breaking bad and vikings.
M.D. House is a different story. Watched all episodes twice xd
Havent watched any of those shows as i dont watch TV at all, neither i use netflix so im out of the loop ont those. As for what is/was my favourite series - Supernatural, not only because of story and general show flow but also because my mother found it interesting/funny enough to watch it with me during our meetups. I would definitely add HouseOfCards to the list - even if i did not watch it i heard alot about it (before Kevin's Spacey accusations). I think Lucifer was a 2017 hot TV show joined by netflix series Gotham but i might be wrong on airing dates of those.

My favorite TV-show is "Prison Break". First episode was televised in 29.07.2005 when I was 9. It was very horrible but addictive too. I hope that new series is coming! Second place is for "Breaking bad". I like movies which base on criminal story.
I have never seen any of those movies but as I said in another article.. "Stranger Things" sounds very interesting for me.
What TV show would you add to this list? "Prison Break" of course! :)

Generally, I don't watch any TV series, because I simply don't have too much free time to devote it. Consequestly, my next answer is obvious-no, I didn't watch it. Sorry, but I have no idea..maybe Twin Peaks!

Thanks for the list provided
1. My favorite TV shows are “Breaking Bad” and “Californication” mainly because of their great main characters played by Bryan Cranston and David Duchovny respectively. The latter may appear to many people as politically incorrect and rude as storyline is connected with main character’s alcohol, drugs and sex addiction and the language is a bit colorful. However, plot is not only focused on Hank Moody’s bad habits and as a whole is interesting and have a lot of funny moments.
2. I haven’t watched any of those so far but I am planning to watch “Crown” for sure.
3. I am currently watching “Narcos” and think it is worth recommending.

My favourite TV show is Life. I sometimes just sit back, drink my tea and watch the world burn because of war, religion, famine etc. It's quite interesting really. And the best part of it? We still haven't reached the finish line of our "civilised" behaviors. We still have wayto go to really show the world our true faces. And as you probably guessed NO i have not watched any of these and i'm not planning to.
What TV show would I add to this list? The one i mentioned, DUUUUH?
Thanks for Your recommendation. I’ve been looking for some new series to watch and I’ll give “Big little lies” a shot :)
I’ve watched only the firs season of Game of Thrones, but I think I’ll start watching it again, because I feel a little left out when EVERYBODY watches it :)
You should definitely give it a try. I promise you won’t regret it.
I haven’t heard about it, but I’ll check it out.
I love Narcos, but I was a little disappointed with season 3. Probably because my friends have told me that it was “SO GOOD, BEST SEASON EVER”, and honestly I didn’t feel that way.
I’ve watched 3 and a half seasons of Breaking Bad, and honestly I think that was much overhyped. I feel like it’s only popular because it was one of the first series created around drugs only.
I loved “Dexter” but I was a little disappointed with the ending :(

When I was a kid I loved it! I have recently tried rewatching it and it wasn’t that fun because I remembered almost everything.
I really liked House M.D. but after couple of seasons it started to annoy me. Every episode was virtually the same.
I agree, there are a lot of series that I’ve been watching only because I’ve watched the first seasons and felt obliged to watch it to the end. The last seasons was completely unnecessary and because of them I didn’t like the series that much.
I totally agree with your recommendations. These two are really great TV shows.
My favorite TV series are those about detectives. I like Columbo and Hércules Poirot. From the newer ones first season of The True Detective was really good. I did not watch any of those you have listed. I do not know what to add, I watch TV series really rarely, like I said I like the detective stories, so maybe the new Sherlock Holmes?
I watch a lot, probably too many TV shows. :)

A few of my all time favourites would be:
House MD - shame you can't forget and re-watch it :)
How I Met Your Mother - a more modern version of Friends
Homeland - Game of Thrones with CIA agents
Americans - Spy Show about KGB agents in 60's America
Banshee - A cop show with a twist
True Detectives - A cop show with a different twist :)

Out of these I've started watching the Mindhunter, but I'm only a few episodes in. I had to stop to watch Punisher and polish-dubbed season 3 of Rick and Morty.

Well, funny thing is that i have only watched stranger things and i didnt enjoy it to much. Somehow it didnt interest me as for example breaking bad or GOT did and those 2 i would add to this list. Also great were Mr. Robot, Shameless and masterpiece "the man in the high castle" if you havent seen it do it now
Californication, Mentalist, Two and Half Men, Friends and on the top always would be IT Crowd for just the whole appearance of the show. Many TV Series passed by but i think one of them got me watch whole season 12 hours straight and it was Prison Break. Never got so much into any of the series than this one.
I don't watch TV very often but when i watch it i like watching Netflix series and movies. I think my favourite show is Game of Throne series. From the movies mentioned in the article i watched only Stranger Things and i liked it a lot. Unfortunately, Netflix published only two seasons yet. If i were you i would add to the article two TV shows - Game of Throne and Rick and Morty. I watched them all and i really enjoyed it.

My the most favourite tv shows are House M.D. and The Sopranos. I have to admit that I have never watch serials which you mentioned in your article. Now I am watching a Narcos made by Netflix but after one season I am not sure if it is good or not.
My favorite TV show is definitely is "Scrubs", it's one of the best sitcoms. And my second favorite - "Community", it's quite a modern series about life in community college.
Yes, I have watched "Stranger things" and now I am finishing "Mindhunter".
Personally, I think that I would add "13 reasons why" by Netflix, very deep and intensive series about life in school nowadays.
Unknown said…
My favourite TV show was "Breaking Bad" but currently I am watching "Game of thrones" and "Narcos" and I love it. After Narcos im going to watch "Punisher". If you are asking me about series from list, then I watched "Stranger things" and I am going to watch "Mindhunter" too.

We all know that House of Cards is just a poor spinoff of our beloved president >:D

I haven't watched any of the above and I don't have any favorite TV series (whats up with all those articles about them? I dunno). Usually, after few episodes it becomes boring and/or its director runs out of ideas and we keep watching the same, over and over again...
Unknown said…
My favorite TV show is not listed above, but I would highly recommend series called Peaky Blinders. It's about English gang from Birmingham, which run horse's tracks and gambling at early 20'. It is also available on Netflix. Moving on, I have watched Stranger Things and I am fascinated about creativity and the plot of the series. In my opinion, the role of Marshall is amazing and actor, who plays him should win some award. Finally, despite the Peaky Blinders, I would add Mr. Robot and Black Mirror.

My favorite TV show is the Vikings. I watch several episodes of the Stranger Things series. I would add TV series like Vikings, Band of Brothers, or Lucifer.
Unknown said…
Last time i really liked "Riverdale". It's about young people who are living in the small but historical town. Their live it's normal at first sight but then ones of their frends die. From this time everything is changing. Sometomes it's scary but i think it show the stong of true friendship.
If it comes about those TV shows, i didn't watch any of those but i've heard good opinions.
I would add my fav "Riverdale" of course! :)
This article contains many of my favorite TV shows. Apart from the Crown. I did not have enough strength to continue watching it, although I love historical dramas. To list all my favorite series is not enough for a week.
In this list, I would add a new The Punisher. The film was excellent, which surprised me very much. Marvel somehow does not carry with serials.
Perhaps I will add the Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon plus. These series should look everyone.
If we talk about the historical series. That I would add Turn.
But, alas, in this short list only those series that are still coming out or already finished. In another case, this list will be longer than a kilometer.
Unknown said…
I’ve only seen Stranger Things out of those listed above and I loved it. The music was the best part of it, in my opinion. Mindhunter is waiting in the line to being watched.
It’s quite difficult to choose only one show as my favourite. I have a few on my mind: Black Mirror, Vikings, GoT, Sherlock and I could keep going.

I haven't watched any of the above, maybe it's because I don't have Netflix. My favourite serial is "Friends". It's old, but it so funny and easy to watch. I watched it on 3 different languages, all 10 seasons. Maybe I have too much free time but it's worth it.

One of my favourite TV Shows is Homeland, it’s a spy thriller that revolves around a female CIA officer with bipolar disorder. There have been 6 seasons so far and another one is in the making, I highly recommend it.
I’ve watched Stranger Things and really enjoyed it, it’s the main reason behind my Netflix subscription. I’m also watching Mindhunter at the moment and find it good so far.
American Gods didn’t really pick my interest and wasn’t to my taste, after watching 3 episodes I gave up. The Crown is on my to watch list, just need to find a way to fold space-time to watch it all.
I’d also add Fargo, Billions, House of Cards, Ozark, The Expanse and plenty more to this list.
South Park is also getting better with its latest seasons.

I've watched Stranger Things from the list above. I don't have favourite series, but I have some which I loved.
I would add to the list Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Narcos, Suits and White Collar.
And of course House of Cards, but I'm afraid that next season without Kevin Spacey will be total crap.

i dont watch shows like that because i dont really like that for me its fake and everyone know what to do. I dont belive in programs on TV because all is predicteable and to make people dumb. Im only watchings some news in TV and some my soup which i like.

My favorite TV shows are "Breaking Bad", Scandinavian "The Bridge", "GoT", "Fargo" and also "Narcos". I have watched the Stranger Things, it's quite fine, but I was not as impressed as I expected. I want to try American Gods, but I haven't read the book and my friend said I should do it before the watching. I have heard about mind hunters because there was awesome light boxes in Warsaw, promoting it. I have tried the Crown, but I didn't like it. I am more into tough and minimalistic Scandinavian TV shows. I love the atmosphere, the views, the natural look of the characters. But you won't find there the colors and expensive scenography. When I have a bad day I just watch "The Big bang Theory" and "Brooklyn 9-9";)
Unknown said…
I saw only Stranger Things from these TV series on the presentation. I have never heard anything about "MindHunter" but I will be happy to watch. There are a lot of series which I can put on this list. One of my favourite series is Breaking Bad. This series has already been for a couple of years but when I recall the story I still think that it is amazing. Now I'm watching The Punisher. I like Fargo, Game of Thrones. I'm waiting very much for new The Witcher by Netflix

SPONGEBOB for the win! yaaay +1

I might not be into most popular TV shows but I have a few favorites. From the above list I've seen Stranger Things only. The best TV shows are the shortest ones, (okay, with just a few exceptions) for example True Detective season one, season two is something different which I don't consider the same show. Ten episodes. Matthew McConaughey in briliant acting. Check it out.

What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite series is House of Cards, I've watched three episodes of "Stranger Things" but I don't like it. I would like add of this list: "House of Cards", "Narcos", "Suits".

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
