Week 11 [06.06 - 12.06] Vlog and blog power

Blogging and vlogging has become a very popular and powerful channel of communication among many internet users. A couple of years ago many internet users have decided to begin blogging and vlogging in order to connect with other people who’d share similar interests and therefore could share it together. Nowadays there are thousands of various blogs and vlogs, which relate to specified areas of interests, such as: hobbies, science, gaming, education, cooking, traveling, tutorials, testing, tips & tricks, DIY, and general entertainment in humorous ways e.g. pranks.

But what is really interesting, vloggers have the opportunity to earn a lot and be self-employed business professionals. In reality very often the channels seem to be run by professionals who know everything about the areas which their channel represents as well as advertising and promotion, rather than amateurs who just write or capture some personal diaries online.

The vlogging and blogging sphere has become so developed all around the world, that there have been created some studies and researches based on their online usage.

A recent research created in Poland by five companies: Mobile Institute, Sotrender, Brand24, Newspoint and NeoCraft, shows interest in following vlogs and blogs among the internet users.

The research also shows that the reasons for content consumption are different – watching vlogs dominates with entertainment, the will to learn something new as well as receiving crucial information regarding more aware purchasing of goods. In the meantime reading blogs dominates with the will to receive information which can help creating an opinion as well as following a specific person or news feed regarding specific subject.

The most popular categories in the blogosphere are: traveling, cooking and cuisines, and beauty. The most popular categories are: entertainment and games, science and technologies.

Here you can see a couple of examples of vloggers:

Michał Pater, a traveler who began to hitchhike and record the whole trip on his GoPro just for fun, but after one trip to Russia he gained thousands of subscribers and millions of views. He continues to travel and capture all of his adventures.

Another example is Remigiusz Maciaszek, who used to be a fan of gaming, however now he is a professional game reviewer and tester, who posts all of the published and also soon-to-be-published games on his YouTube channel. His movies have thousands of views after a couple of hours or days from publishing.

I really admire people who share their’s interest and knowledge among other people. And vlogging and blogging is also very interesting for me, I get to know so many things, heard about things that without that I would not know about and learn a lot. I watch and read few of them, but I prefer more watching then reading. I like the most life hacks, technology news, reviews of hardware and travel guides. I don’t have my own blog or vlog. I don’t think it is easy to prepare such videos, it require spending many hours to have whole episode ready to publish.
I like vlogs a lot, but I don’t understand how blogs are still so popular, especially in area of cooking, when I am looking for meal I found hundreds of different blogs. How all of them find it worth doing. How they are monetising their’s work? I like Youtubers like Mariusz Max Kolonko and multiple vlogs about self improvement, how to work better, how to workout, some tips about healthy lifestyle including diet and exercising. I also like a lot listening to interviews with some of my favourites authors like Mateusz Grzesiak.

It's funny to see that way's I am using vlogs and blogs is pretty much reflected in second infographics. Personally I am more used to vlogs as if they are good, they tend to have higher quality of materials. Also they are good alternative to watching TV if you are feeling like you need to just rest a little.

Vlogging and blogging are very popular these days. Everyone knows some blogger or vlogger. I heard for example about Maffashion, Jessica Mercedes who are now celebrities in polish show business. When I read this article I thought also about Chiara Ferragni blog and now brand. At the beginning she published her outfits on portal lookbook and then she got popularity and she founded the fashion company. For me it's amazing that people earn money thanks to running a blog. On the other hand, it is not surprising if we have the Internet era.
Ok, I know that the vlogging and blogging are so popular these days. People wants to find everything in the internet, others thoughts or opinions too. It's simply and fast. But I can't understand why every single blog or vlog making money if some of theirs topics are just not even worth to mention. I don't understand the popularity of, for example, fashion vlogs where everyone of these vloggers said the same things. And people watch it, one after another with the same content.
But maybe I don't like this kind of vlogs, that's why I am so critical :P
On the other hand, we can find so many useful and interesting stuff on these blogs and vlogs, everyone can find something for yourself.
I obviously read blogs and watch vlogs, but I don't focus on any specific topics. I mean, I could list: technology, programming, travel, sports, music etc. But vlogs and blogs are just other media outlets that get the benefit of being online. As people who watch TV, people who read blogs and watch vlogs (not that they can't do all three) aren't usually limiting themselves to certain things. They'll watch whatever interests them.

I really like culinary blogs but I don't read them regularly, rather only when I need inspiration in cooking ;) In my opinion blogs and vlogs are good way of our expression on the internet. We could share the topics which interest us and our experiences for example in traveling with other people, even on a global scale. Of course, such access to a universal expression has it bad side. Unfortunately, there are many bloggers who are idols for middle school students and they don't provide any good content. I'm a women and I like clothes but I really don't understand this huge popularity of fashion blogs :/

I think that many blogs and vlogs give us good knowledge. These are places where we can find information from many areas of interests
I sometimes use blogs or vlogs when I need information, tutorials, etc.
You're right that many vlogs are lead by profesionalists, but unfortunatelly still many vlogs are lead by amator. Of course professionalists have much better results than amateurs. Internet accepts everything :P
My favourite categories are: science, photography, cooking/ cuinsines, handmade, business.
Thanks for interesting article and good examples.

I dont watch blogs that often, only blog I watch regularly is Przez Swiat na fazie. Its about a guy that hitchhikes across the globe.

I like to watch vlogs and I have some favourites, that I watch when I have some free time, it's great form of information sharing.

Unfortunately the best vlogs I watched was from USA, not Poland. I think in our country it's not so popular yet.

This is interesting, could you name a couple of examples so we could watch them as well? :)

I think you are right, vlogs nowadays are a sort of endless source of information. I think that both professionals and amateurs are needed and add different kinds of experiences to the audience.
As You wrote its everywhere on the internet. I personally watch a couple of vlogs, mainly about traveling and makeing different things. I like to learn everything I can about something that interests me and watching vlogs is one way to do it. A cool examle is vlogs about different topics related to studying, If you need to learn something you can propably find a vlog explaining it.

What do I think about vlogs and blogs? Well, they are certainly very popular nowadays. Even though most of them concentrate around only a few subjects (as you prove in your article) it seems everyone can find something for themselves. I follow artblogs mostly and check some random food blogs from time to time. I also used to watch a lot of science vlogs (or rather Youtube channels), but I do this less frequently now.

But I like the whole concept. Vlogs and blogs can be a source of many interesting subjects and places where you can really learn something new.

Rock is my favourite youtuber, in his videos he seems like such a nice guys and he tells some interesting stories :D So his videos are the ones I watch purely for fun, but I also watch some DIYs or tutorials - no one specific, just depending on what I need at the moment. I visit cooking blogs too in search of interesting recipes.

I'm not a regular blog reader or vlog watcher, however, I do enjoy blogs/vlogs from time to time.

I enjoy vlogs by Felicia Day or Laci Green, I sometimes watch Dem's movie critiques. However, I think I'm a typical user of the internet nowadays - my attention span for stuff like vlogs is very short, I tend to do other things while listening to a vlog, so the theme has to be really interesting to grab my attention. :)

It’s awesome how people like/enjoy to share their knowledge with others. I’d never blogged myself I have friends who do, I know it’s a good way of sharing information backed with facts. I enjoy reading and watch, all depends on who makes the videos and the articles, my favorite are life hacks and technology news.

I don't know a lot about bloggers, because I don't read them. But i knot something about vlogers. At first, the best (most popular) vlogers can earn a lots of money. I'm watching some vlogs, usually when I eat dinner or supper next to my monitor. I'm interested in gaiming and science vlogs. Still for me streams are the best way to spend freetime.

I remember when I was a little girl the blogging age was started. I had my own photoblog and I interested in making HTML layouts and graphics for blogs. Actually often I use to watch vlogs. One of my favourites is 'Niekryty Krytyk' which criticize different worldwide situations or controversial events. I like a lot beauty and 'how to make life easier' advices recorded by famous in YouTube Nieesia25 who lives in UK. In my opinion vlogs are nice activity to spend time effectively. We could know a piece of world behind a glass screen.

For quite a while now people have had the opportunity to build up their entire career thanks to the Internet and blogging/vlogging, if only they have what it takes to share their passions with others. Probably the best example that comes to my mind is Felicia Day, who started out rather small and right now has an extremely popular Youtube channel with multiple programs, mostly about gaming. And, interestingly enough, one doesn’t need to be a gamer to watch programs that are largely into games or stream others’ gameplays: lots of my students watch such vlogs even though they’re not interested in gaming themselves.

I think vlogs have becoe so hugely popular because of the shorten attentior span we have these days. The videos aren't long and watching them is easier than reading a blog entry. Plus, it's more entertaining, as people who vlog have to have certain charisma to become popular. As with all celebrities, people might even watch the videos just to see the vloggers themselves and not care at all what they talk about. Moreover, vlogs, even more than tv, strive to interact with their audience: they look at the camera, so we get the impression of eye contact. They encourage people to share their opinions and, most importantly, they can respond to comments themselves. The era of the Internet has brought us closer to our idols than ever before. If you love a book author, you're just a click away from telling them that directly, no proxies, and possibly getting a prompt reply. You get the feeling they really care about their audience, which in turn, is great PR.
Internet is a powerful medium and it is widely accessible, so being a blogger or a vlogger can make you famous worldwide. Sometimes it harly requires any financial input. I like reading blogs and watching vlogs, I like to browse the Internet in search for new ideas. Vloggers are very powerful people nowadays. I remember wanting to buy a recommended beauty product from Golden Rose. The seller told me that when their products appear in this vlogger's videos, their website crashes and they are out of these particular products in minutes. Being a trendsetter might make some people power drunk, that's sure. Unfortunately, there are more and more sponsored videos and posts in the Internet and now I rarely trust any of these "try this brand, they are amazing and this is my personal opinion, nobody payed me for saying that" posts. Even on Internet forums I cannot force myself to trust any recommendations. However, you can still learn a lot of things from many different areas of interest from blogs and vlogs. Managing a blog or a vlog often is a tiring, 24/7 job and you have to make sure to keep up your popularity polls etc. I wouldn't want to be a blogger, I am a lurker and this works for me;)
It's a very cool thing. People share their interests with others. Often infecting others with his passions. Tests of products, solutions - a very useful thing. I do not have your blog, vlog but I understand the desire to share their knowledge and discoveries with others. I observed several tourist vlogs. In the television always the same, the Internet provides us with entertainment which themselves choose among the many channels, blogs. I support artists and I think will be their more and more.
Unknown said…
Of course I read blogs. It's a form of entertainment for me. You could say that I learned how to cook by reading blogs. I enjoy and follow blogs created by different illustrators. I also love vlogs, my favorites include one made by Krzysztof Gonciarz and TheUwagaPies, Frannerd and more recently Rachel Nguyen, I also follow some beauty vlogs. I often learn interesting new stuff from vlogs and sometimes I like to watch how day to day life looks in other countries. I think that right now blogs and youtube channels are so popular because people see how thanks to the internet they can improve themselves and interact with like minded people, they find motivation for developing their hobbies.

- What do you think about vlogging and blogging these days?

It is everywhere and as far as I know, the most subscribed YouTuber is a vlogger - PewDiePie. I think it is a kind of new form of media we are developing nowadays and i guess that it has chance to soon be as important medium as TV. Some think that it could even outnumber TV in terms of active watchers.

- Do you watch vlogs and/or read blogs? What kind of topics cover your favourites?

From time to time I watch some sic-fi/technological stuff. I used to watch a guy called AmazingAtheist which had really funny attitude towards a lot of today’s topics and really interesting point of view - especially on feminism and religion. I didn’t agree with some things he said but nevertheless i liked to watch him. But that was some time ago, right now i don’t watch any vlogs/blogs actively.

- Do you have a blog or a vlog yourself? What kind of subjects and areas of interests do you cover?

Nope, but if i ever where to have one it probably would be about vinyl/music stuff or about Web Design and Development.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases.
