Week 8 [14-21.12.20] What it is a sport shooting?

Sport shooting is a sport that not everyone knows about. Not spectacular, even boring according to some. However, everyone who has had contact with this sport knows about its positive effects on people. Starting from the basics, sport shooting is a discipline that involves shooting at a target at a distance of 10m, 25m, 50m and sometimes 300m. Depending on the weapon we choose, we shoot with a rifle or a pistol.

Air pistol target, 10m
One of the competition I would like to discuss today is an air pistol, 10m. Each competitor has a target during the competition to which he can fire any number of non-judged shots during the first 15 minutes, then the competition begins with 60 competition shots. Competition has 75 minutes to do so, it is quite long exercice that requires a lot of endurance training, but also mental preparation. Not all of us can be 110% focused for such a long time. This is what we need to get the perfect shot. The world record is 594 points out of 600 possible. The tenth ring measures 11.5mm and it may surprise you, but the 1gr coin is 15.5mm.

Rapid-fire pistol target, 25m
Another pistol competition (at 25 m) is the rapid-fire pistol. The most spectacular in my opinion. The competition consists in firing 5 shots at 5 different targets with an interval of 8, 6, 4 seconds. The fun begins during the final, as shooters only have 4 seconds left. If you think 4 seconds is a short amount of time, let me just add that the shooter cannot aim the pistol at the targets until he hears the command. Yes, it's a very tough competition. There is no time for any mistakes.

How does aiming with a pistol look like? It is enough for the bow tie to be exactly in the middle of the rear sight horizontally. If you manage to do it, just aim and shoot. I warn you that it does not look like in the movies. The entire gun is heavy and your hands are shaking.

Sport shooting is not only an extremely difficult competition with the best shooters in the world. It's a great way to spend your free time. You don't need a permit, just visit a nearby shooting range, preferably with friends.

1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?
Yes, I was shooting few times, guns are heavier then anyone things of at the beginning, recoil can hit like a truck and you also have to focus and aim with the weapon your holding. It is even ahrder when your dominating eye is on oppiste side to hand. It get's tricky as hell.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?
Yes, I personally like shooting but lack time to travel all the way to shooting range only to shoot a few times and say goodbye. Maybe after pjatk I will try to get a licence at practice more.

1. Yes of course. Like any other sport, it requires a lot of practice and patience. Also, I believe you need to remember quite a lot of technical information about different types of guns, etc. With some weapons, you also need to be in good physical shape as they might be simply heavy to hold. And you need to be able to keep your body in the right position.

2. Yes I did. A friend of mine has actually been practicing it. And also I have been on the shooting range in warsaw and I absolutely loved it. Your post reminded me about that and now I'm desperate to go again! I just see it as such a great stress relief. Like when I was there the only thing I could think about is how I shoot and that brought so much calm to me. It was a great and really fun experience for me and my friends.

Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?

As basics of sport shooting was, in fact, part of my high-school PE classes I was able to experience it for myself and boy … it is HARD. I strongly agree with your statement, that these guns are heavy, but what was more tiring for me was the recoil. As I am not some kind of a superwoman, I have found it quite hard to keep my gun in the proper position after each shot. I was completely exhausted after each shooting session and my arms and hand were sore for two more days afterwards. However, it was very interesting thing to try, especially considering the fact, that (as you have mentioned already) it IS NOT as easy, as it looks in the movies.

Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?

As I have said it before, I have tried it, but it’s not my cup of tea. I think that my main hobby right now is my job, which is animation. I truly like to solve the variety problems that animation gives me every day, but I know that it cannot be my only hobby, as I would soon become crazy due to the lack of interests.

So, when I have a spare moment for myself, I do also like to take photos on my old, analogue camera (especially during trips and visiting different places. I love the idea of capturing the moment and waiting for an unpredictable effect that analogue photography offers) and sing. Singing (and acting in theaters) is actually something, that I had learned since when I was a kid, and I have a very soft spot for it in my heart. When I’m in a good mood I do like to play something simple on my guitar and sing. I find it very soothing and relaxing. What can I say? It brings me joy.
1. I don't think shooting is a big challenge or a difficult sport. It is a matter of learning and habit.

2. Yes, I was aware of sport shooting but did not participate in it. I was only at the shooting range.

Sure, it requires amazing focus and accuracy abilities. You have to train as in other sport disciplines.
2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?
I was aware of sport shooting and haven't picked up any hobby for quite some time besides reading. I would love to try shooting in the future.

I haven't tried it, but I can imagine to be quite difficult and requring mastering
precise moves and body-mind concentration.

2.
I've acknowledged it's existence, saw it for example on the olympics, but never actively watched it or participated in it. One day I would like to however to try it out with a
professional instructor.
1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?

Without a doubt this is a very difficult sport and it requires a lot of discipline from the athlete. I am not very often at the shooting range but I would definately love to be more frequently there. Few times when I was a child I went to the shooting range with my father and later, after becoming an adult I was at the shooting range two times. I had a great time and I wish my friends had as much fun as I did. I guess they didn't because we don't go there very often. The amount of skill required to be a good shooter and have a steady hand is huge.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?

I knew about it but I have never seen any shooting event live or on the internet. Last time I have seen a shooting competition was in TV at the Olympics when I was watching biathlon. I do have my own hobbies but those tend to change very often. To be more precise I think that reading about stuff is my hobby and that "stuff" that I am interested in changes very frequently. Besides that I enjoy playing games and meeting with my friends.

Of course, if you want to be really good at something, it won't be easy. It's definitely the same in sport shooting. It requires a lot of training, commitment and a good coach will certainly come in handy. You have to be able to combine theory with practice, focus for a long time, and in my opinion, shooting itself is not the simplest.

I had never been interested in it before, so I didn't know that shooting is such an extensive discipline. I always thought that if someone goes to the shooting range and it isn't related to their profession, it's just a hobby. A few years ago, I happened to visit the shooting range. Just once. When the opportunity arises, I will probably want to try again. It wouldn't be my first choice for a hobby, for a longer period of time. I prefer quieter activities like baking or yoga.
1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?
I think yes, because this requires great precision and patience. It takes a lot of time to reach a high level. I tried to shoot at a shooting range and even there it is not easy to hit the target

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?
I have never heard about this sport before, I knew some sports that contains shooting, but I never thought that there is a different sport shooting.
If you mean a sports hobby, then I go for a run and do yoga. I can't say that this is what I love to do, but sometimes sports relieve stress, so I force myself to do sports.
1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?

I think that everything can be named difficult when we are trying it for the first time or we are trying to reach high-level in it. As you mentioned in the article, this kind of activity requires a lot of skills, so it is simple that if we want to master shooting, we have to spend a lot of time during trainings.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?

I did know about sport shooting, but I have never tried it. It is one of the things that I planned to do in the nearest future. When I see a shooting scene during watching the movie, I feel that shooting is really enjoyable and I want to try it. About my hobbies, yes, I have few, first is football, I played for over a dozen years in my hometown club, so I am strong emotionally attached to this sport discipline. I met a lot of fantastic people, and I have lived through many awesome moments during my adventure with football. Now I am mainly watching matches from time to time, because I don't have a lot of occasions to play with my friends.

1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?
Yes, I consider sport shooting to be difficult. A lot of people I know think it is easy to shoot a gun, because they've seen it on TV, but in reality, it's much harder. I'm no expert, so I can't tell anyone how to shoot a gun properly, I'm just aware that it is difficult.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?
Yes, but I haven't tried it personally, but I have a friend who used to go to all sorts of shooting competitions, he even won some of them.

1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?

Every sport has its own difficulties, especially if it is the level at which we want to participate in competitions. You have to put a lot of work into it to become good enough. Practice regularly with someone who will show you your mistakes and tell you what you can do better. In this case the problem may be the difficulty of keeping the gun stable after a long time. Of course it is easy at first, but after some time it may turn out that our hands are already tired and it will be hard to get to the target.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?

I was more or less familiar with this sport, but not in a professional way.
I had a chance to be at the shooting range and it gave me a lot of fun, it is great fun. As a way out, once in a while it is an interesting time, but to do training every two days, it can turn out to be a really expensive sport.

As for my hobby... Currently I'm looking for some interesting hobby, which will allow me to be drawn in for many hours... But on the other hand I have to write an engineering paper which requires many hours of work...
@Grzegorz Rostek

I agree with your statement. Shooting is not like the games. If that were the case, everyone would be an Olympic medalist. Of course, in shooting with friends, 99% success is up to you. At Olympic level, every shooter can shoot 10, but the most important thing is mental endurance.
1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?
I think that shooting is a difficult sport. What counts in it is patience and precision. People who practice shooting devote a lot of time to training so I can't imagine that a person who is just starting out can beat a person who shoots professionally in a competition. This is a sport in which experience plays a significant role.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?

Yes, I knew this sport before. I was at the shooting range a few times. I think it's a great hobby, personally, I don't want to train this sport and take part in competitions but as a hobby, I think it's a great way to spend free time. It is a sport different from others which makes it unique. I used to watch a lot of movies with a compilation of the best actions from shooting competitions.

1. Do you consider this sport difficult? Why?
Yes, I consider sport shooting to be difficult. You have to have good aim, reflex and fitness.
You have to be concentrated and have good map awareness. You have to train as hard as in other sport disciplines to master your skills. I think it is very demanding sport because it requires a lot of skills.

2. Did you know sport shooting before? Do you have your hobbies?
Yes, i have heard. It is my dream to try sport shooting, maybe one day. I have my own hobbies, first of all, i would say that programming is my hobby, it makes me pleasure, moreover i like playing football, driving car by night without any destination. I like reading interesting books and listen to good music

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
