Talking
about the biggest world corporations, one of the first ones that comes to your
mind (at least it should) is The Walt Disney Company. Everyone has heard of it,
everyone saw their cartoons or movies as a kid, not everyone has been to the
Disneyland but I think many have dreamt of visiting one of them. I believe it
is interesting to know how the great companies were founded and what their path
to what they are now was so I decided to tell a short story about Walt Disney
and the world he created.
As a child,
Walt Disney loved to draw and, as he stated later, he decided to become a
cartoonist after the friend of his family, Dr. Sherwood, bought a picture of a
horse that Walt drawn from him for 25 cents. Pursuing his dream, at the age of
22 Walt went to Hollywood where with the tremendous help of his older brother,
Roy, in 1923 he founded the “Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio” as it was named at
that time.

The first pretty
well accepted project, “Alice in Cartoonland” – a film combining both live
action and animation – resulted in signing a contract with a distributor and
series of Alice films, which had been produced for four years until it was
decided to switch to fully animated movies. His first try on that field was
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The character was rather popular and entertained the
viewers for a year with Walt behind its back until it appeared that the
distributor appropriated all the rights to Oswald. It was a valuable lesson for
Walt so from that moment he always made sure to keep all the rights to his
characters and the first one of them was most well-known Mickey Mouse (with his
appearance suspiciously resembling Oswald the Rabbit).
Cartoons
featuring Mickey Mouse became a sensation, later they were accompanied by
“Silly Symphonies” series – with one of the episodes becoming the first cartoon
winning the Oscar in 1932. In 1937 “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was
released on the big screen – the riskiest Disney’s project where the success of
that feature-length animated cartoon could decide if the studio went bankrupt
or skyrocketed to success. The latter happened, with “Snow White” becoming the
highest-grossing sound film at the time with international earnings of $8
million.

In 1955,
first Disneyland was opened in California making Disney the center of attention
once more but with the death of Walt eleven years later and the loss of his
ideas, the company faced the decline. After that, the history of the company
looks a bit like a rollercoaster with it’s changing CEOs with their different
approach to leading business. All that leads to Bob Iger becoming the CEO in
2000 with his strategy “If Disney has problems with creativity, we should just
buy ideas from other companies”. That is how we end up today, with Disney
having under its foot such studios as “Pixar”, “Lucasfilm”, “20th
Century Fox”, “Marvel” etc., and with a parasitism on the past successes,
releasing one remake after another.
Unfortunately,
the tendency in which The Walt Disney Company is moving, is not very
optimistic, but that’s how all movie industry works nowadays.
And now, a couple of questions for you:

No matter what is happening with Disney's productions right now, I will always think positively about the company. It gave me hundreds of joyfull hours during my childhood which I would never forget. I still have my favourite movies/cartoons deep in my memory. There are literally plenty of them, classics like Donald Duck, Hercules or Lion the King are simply unforgetable.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
It is very different than it has been before, even as close as couple of years before. It is the natural process of development in every healthy industry - a constant, successive change. There is much bigger amount of money in it, the factors like special effects and technical equipment obviously developed enormously throughout last decades and even the cinemas lost their position in the industry due to the streaming and VOD services like Netflix or HBO GO.
The company is developing well, thanks to Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
The current film industry is boring and predictable. Fairy tales rarely contain a hidden message and moral. I don't watch movies and films very much, but it seems to me that nowadays effects are more expensive than good message and plot.

Disney's talent has given us so many wonderful characters who have entertained many
generations before me and will surely be a lot after me. I think the feeling I give to
Disney's fairy tales will never change, no matter which way the company goes.
In my opnion The CEO's job is to maintain and develop the company in all possible ways
because talent like Walt Disney will never happen again.
What do you think about the current movie industry?
The current film industry is a specific and difficult industry.
It certainly consists of set-ups, aggression, sexism and many other bad factors, but
I don't know if we as the audience have any influence on it.
Surely the company founded by Walt Disney, can be called the most successful in the world for the production of cartoons. Only one brand is worth it. One of the most recognizable on our planet. Of course, this is a business, and such a company also had ups and downs in history, as you wrote, but from the point of view of ideas that were released under this brand, they will always remain in history. I really respect the work of Walt Disney, and it came with time. As a child, he did not understand the process, just watched his cartoons. But later I realized how hard this is. On the Internet you can find a lot of material and videos dedicated to how animated films were created, then you can understand that it was not easy, especially at a time when this industry was just born and began to develop.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
The modern film industry has come a long way. And modern films help us understand that this perfection has no limits. Even if you look at the same cartoons, just look at what products Pixar today produces. Cartoons using modern technology. Even in order to describe the movements of the main characters, a real projection on the movements of a person is now used, not to mention the facial expressions of the movement of the lips.
In general, the film industry is an indicator of the breakthrough of modern technology, new equipment and graphic design. Special effects, production and even high-level promotion today. This is truly an art. And that's it.
2. I think the market is consolidate and it's still progressing. There are several big companies which are making most of the movies. Another thing I can see is that these huge companies are making remakes or sequels of old classic movies. I cannot complain, I really like these classics. However, I think in future they will start making new move brands. And of course there is new kind of this market: Streaming movies websites like Netflix or HBO GO and in next days Disney + which will be growing and take money from cinemas. Cinemas however will have to change how they fight for customers, such as: level comfort or quality of view and sound.
2. To be honest, I'm a bit unsatisfied with what is happening with the movie industry. First of all - I understand that it's all about money and movie have to be profitable. It's been always working this way and it's nothing new, but I feel that cinema is loosing it's magic. We can see tons of movies from the Marvel or DC universe which are really poor. We can see same bad actors in very similar to each other cringe movies. Unfortunately, it's hard to see something new and incredible. For me - cinema is loosing it's magic and it's not only because I grown up.
I was raised on Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Peter Pan or Lady and the Trump which was my favorite movie for a really long time and many many others. It doesn't really matter what is going with the company right now because I will always have sentiment to those fairy tales and cartoons.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
I am disappointed by incessant imitation and making newer more realistic version of fairy tales we know. It is unnecessary and sometimes even scary. It is only nice to watch to see graphics and technology achievements with nature and animals reflect. Some scene and modernization creeped me out.
I always liked Walt Disney movies, never watched the oldest one but after reading this article i will give it a try. In my opinion after 20th century disney movies were getting worst and i prefer the classic ones.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
Right now I very dislike Disney as a universum which doesn't make good movies anymore but rather spend a lot of money on big movies like star wars but didn't know how to make them as legendary as they were. Same with other fairy movies.
I always liked their cartoons and I believe our generation had the best cartoons ever made. Right now you would think that with the all technological advancements they would be better but it's not the case. I was sometimes watching some current cartoons with my younger sisters and I was thinking about finding and playing them some of 'ours' cartoons as they besides entertaining used to teach us something as well.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
I think movie industry is getting worse and worse. That's why for a quite some time i started to watch TV series. I believe it's more interesting to get to know some epic stories presented in this form.
2. Current movie industry is changing mostly in a technological space. Big advancements are made in this filed. Besides that it keeps to present wider and wider variety of content to many different types of viewers. It's also affected by the rapid growth o streaming companies like Netflix , HBO etc that produce not only TV series but lately also traditional movies available on premier to everyone without need to go to the cinema. In spite of all this I think that traditional movie industry will remain unharmed and growing as it was for the past few decades.
2. I think that it is hard to surprise the audience nowadays. I have the impression that the best films were made in the 20th century, and today directors and screenwriters lack inspiration, which is why so many remakes are created. As in the past, movie premiere was a kind of really special day. Today is different - anyone can become a director. Compared to the past, the role of the small screen has increased - series. They are very popular these days and no one is surprised that Hollywood stars play there.
As I was basically raised watching meaningful and artistically pleasurable Disney animations, I think my heart will always skip a beat for them. For all eternity my favorite animations will be Mulan, Hercules and Tarzan. Those songs were to die for. To this day my friends and I sing at the top of our lungs “Make a man out of you” or “I won’t say I’m in love”.
It is also worth remembering that Walt Disney is the one whom we owe developing and refining of the 12 animation principles, which all of the animators benefit from to this day. As it comes to my opinion throughout the years … it’s a shame that nowadays Disney is unable to create as impressive animations as for example 30 years ago. Nevertheless,I think my sentiment will always make me keep a good thought for them.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
I wouldn’t say I have any strong opinion considering this topic. I’m more of a book than a movie person, plus I’m mainly interested in animation industry. But if I have to determine myself, I must say I am quite pleased with animation-movie industry. Nowadays all the independent artists have a chance to go big, to make something meaningful and recognizable. Studios have easier access to contact and promote them. On the flipside, I cannot help the impression that the movie industry relies too heavily on existing franchises. Every year, there are dozens of re-makes, prequels and sequels, turning as much profit as they can. They play it safe, betting on previous successful ideas. Those franchises draw the publicity’s attention from independent artist that can actually offer something original and refreshing. Due to popularity of the former, we are deprived of the latter.
2. Currently, the film industry is developing very dynamically. There are a lot of films on various subjects. A dozen premieres a month. What's more, these movies also differ in the way they shoot movies. For example, in the movie "Gemini Man" there is an unusual camera work at different angles, and the film itself was recorded in 60 FPS. These are amazing viewing experiences. The second example, "Midway 2019" has an interesting story-based story and very realistic war effects.
1. My thoughts about the company have always been rather positive. I enjoyed disney's stories when I was a child and their current productions are still very enjoyable. However, throughout last few years the company seems to be too money focused and I hope it will not make me dislike them.
2. This topic is kind of tricky. I think there is too much money pumped into that and it is too heavily depended on wide audience. To me the industry is getting more and more political, as in every big production the must be somebody who is gay or from various ethnic minorities. I do not have anything against it in general, but sometimes it seems too forced in my opinion.
2. I would say that the current movie industry is pretty healthy and recently a lot of productions with a breath of freshness were released. For example, I have watched 'Parasite', 'Joker' and 'Dolor y gloria' and all of them presented deep new stories. I didn't expect this sort of movies, as an industry was rather accustomed as to predictable sequels of all sorts.
2. It's difficult to say because I'm not interested in it, but I think it's hard to create something new that will appeal to people. Controversial films and also films with superheros/supervilians achieve the greates success. Lately I was in the cinema to watch Joker - best movie 2019 for me, 10/10
Initially this company was made with love for cartoons and kids for whom they were made. Over the years this degraded to money-making conveyor with self-copying, low quality and sticking to same formulas.

Again, money making factory, low quality, zero fresh ideas, selling the same stuff over and over again. Pity.
2.I think there are a lot of producers who show violence in their productions, which negatively affects children.
2. The current film industry is a cluster of plagiarism. But is that so weird? Let's think about three original themes that could appear on the screens? I can't think of one, and you?
In my opinion Walt Disney Company is, was and will be for many years to come one of the most influential Companys in the world. There were not many brands in the history which were able to keep its position for around 80 years. Especially if we are talking about the leading position. When I was younger I saw Walt Disney Company as something which only brings joy and magical atmosphere into childrens hearts. Nowadays I am aware of the fact that they are cold blooded monehmakers, but I am as much impresed by them as I were as a child.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
Current movie industry is not an easy place to be working in. The competition between people who are trying to become the next big name in this business is extraordinary and I don't know if it can be compared to anything else. From the technical perspective it makes it makes it much more advanced, but artisticaly-wise it might be harmful to the industry. When numbers become the most important factor, there is no place to make mistakes. So many great ideas don't have a chance to be used, because there is no place left for experiments, when numbers need to add up.
2. Thanks to developing newer special effects and CGI, movies are getting more and more incredible. Every year we are getting surprised with greater effects. I would even dare to say that the actors' work has been moved to the background and we focus more on CGI than ever before.
2. There are too many refreshed movies and too few new brands. However, the film industry is developing well.
But those little bits of information about Disney that the author of the article managed to collect were interesting and informative.
2. I would formulate my answer like this: From Snow White to Elsa, From the gnome's hut to the ice palace. The biggest change factor I consider is animation, stories, and meaning. Even Disney watches modern Disney animations as a full-fledged movie and And the industry itself is developing very fast.
2. I often think about Polish movie and TV series industry, that it used to be really good, but now is just a big, smelly, pile of garbage. But when I think about it now, writing this comment, it's no better outside of our country. Every new remake or attempt to reanimate old masterpieces is just plain unwatchable. You'd think that maybe it's better when it comes to fully new productions, but it's not. It's probably even worse. I think that one of things responsible for such state of whole industry is overly political correctness of those new productions. Almost every movie or TV series have to include characters representing every possible sexual orientation, every race, take care to not insult any of above, etc. I get it that authors want (or have to because of direction in which our planet is heading) include everyone and everything even if it's totally out of content, to appeal to masses, but you just can't do it with good production. Not to mention choosing diversity over actual faithfulness to sources or even historical accuracy. Nowadays we can't even hope for producers to pick the best available actors, because of same problems. I'd say that it's really sad, that in era where we have big streaming portals like Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney is in progress of making their own platform, which let us watch anything we want, practically whole new content is just bad. In past we could say that it was a problem that something is unavailable to watch in our country and access to watching was limited, now we have access but there's nothing to choose from.
2. Current movie industry is highly developed. From year-to-year we can watch more and more great productions of all kind of movies from romantic comedies to horrors. What’s more long-term development process resulted in new film genres, for example nowadays it’s very popular among film directors to mix reality, real actors with fiction and cartoon characters. I love watching movies so I’m really happy that movie industry is on that high level and it’s still developing.
2. I do not watch movies very often, so I do not have any strong opinion about the industry. I definitely see a trend to release remakes, spinoffs, prequels, sequels etc. but honestly I often enjoy watching such movies, because of the better picture and CGI quality, even if the plot is not that well-thought.
Current movie industry changed only by the realism of actions and quality of computer graphics. If someone say that films very boring and predictable nowadays, they don't know how to choose films.
2. I think that current movie industry is focused too much on quantity and not on quality. I saw Youtube interview with 3D animators and how they are overwhelmed by amount of work that they needed to do in short period of time for a movie. They didn't like the results and were upset that they didn't have time to do it properly. It happens because movies are made more often and with more unnecessary CGI.
2. I think the modern film industry is well developed now. We can enjoy more and more quality films that have been shot using computer graphics and other modern technologies.

I always loved Disney cartoons and I still haven't changed my opinion about them. That will probably say every generation but I think we were born in the best time to watch great cartoons.

I think the movie industry is hardly pushing towards new technology and trying to forget how to create interesting movies. I will always say a good move is the one with a good story behind it.
Before animated cartoons there where only written tales. They had moral. It was very powerful instrument, to build objective understanding of good and evil and what is beyond it. They told, how important is friendship, and how weak you are, if you are alone.
And the “big marketing brain” mentioned, that when you see something, it is more attractive, then when you hear. Just because the shape of character is the same in each head (against individual imagination, when you read). And that gives wide economical possibilities (such type of market wasn’t in use). Now we can see a lot of products (shirts, figures, sticks and many other stuff). And little children just want to have that useless piece of plastic.
So, from the one side, animated cartoons were just a next form of explanation of morality and problems of society. And from another, it’s just a big manipulation of weak and not protected thing – child`s mind.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
Now everything is turning around money and its accumulation. “If we are creating the movie, we should get our money back” – the main thought, that moves the industry. And the real artist never thinks in such way, he works for Art, and for the name of Art. He wants to send his message for next generations and make them continue his ideas.
When the main goal become to make money, the sense loses. You become great cause of money you`ve received for your project, and not cause of your mental and spiritual growth.
P.S. It`s just my opinion, that I can to voice according to the freedom speech right. I affirm nothing and nothing can be used to define it like defamation.
2. I my opinion the industry is still trying to do it's best. It's just that the Hollywood is getting more and more political in a way.
I have been always positively thinking about The Walt Disney Company because I have grown on cartoons, produced by them. For me, it is always one of the most positive companies, which produced a lot of great cartoons. Nowadays, it transformed into a gigantic corporation with a lot of different movies, but I always ready to watch new Disney's cartoon.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
I think now the movie industry has some lack of ideas. Because of this, we see a lot of reboots, but all in all every year we see a lot of great films, with new genres and histories. It is a great entertainment industry.
Currently I pretty much like the way of investing money in new productions and I appreciate the way Disney company shows some of controversial topics like different sexualities, nationalities and some social problems. On the other hand i'm quite frustrated with the way Disney company is trying to gain more prestige by deleting all their productions from easily accessible platforms (just to make one platform only for their own movies which of course will need to be paid for).
2. I don not have any appropriate source of information about the movie industry nowadays, and to be honest I rarely participate in going to the cinema. As a new trend for a few years there is a platform called Netflix, where we have plenty to watch. In this case I would like to say that new productions, are not for my taste. Too many homosexual content is forced into these productions. Maybe they are aiming into different audience.
1. Once, when I saw the Disney badge or the Pixar lamp, I thought they were completely different companies, then it turned out to be one studio. We cannot say which company or whose movie is better and can better entertain both children and adults.
2. I have the impression that the children's stories come out much more often than when even we were small. The cartoons were good. They entertained children and parents, `And watching them after years is fun because we discover other jokes and understand them differently. Now many fairy tales are one-dimensional, they are boring. Now there are remakes (like the "Lion King "or" Tarzan "), or they are extended by force (like "Star Wars"). And to this broadcast high-pitched dabbing for all feature films. There is a lot of great movies and those that should not see the light of day.
My childhood was spent with their cartoons. I've seen all the cartoons he makes. He's one of Disney's most successful companies in the world, and I think he's an expert in creating entertainment.

I think the film industry is getting worse. Apart from the major films, there is no side to watch
First of all huge companies being is for money, and only money rules them. Walt Disney Company has chosen a way of making money in a most simple and safe way. They create simple movies that hit most mentally vulnerable people, and then they create and license merchandise of such movies. Such films do not bring anything new, creative or unusual, they just use our nostalgia or child being. This company becomes more and more monopolistic and nothing can resist to its huge lawyers machine. They buy every company that makes money in this industry.

In my opinion, The Walt Disney Company is a really great organization, with movies and cartoons of which I grew up. But right now, they are making, to be honest, not very high quality content. I just hope they will find a good leader who will continue Mr. Disnay business

Let's put it this way: people started to rely too much on computer graphics. All that realism that the viewer could have been immersed in watching the movie disappeared. Nowadays movie have become a means of earning money, not art
I've always loved Disney movies, although i've always have had problem with singing in cartoons - but then there was a treasure planet and "i'm still here" song which changed my view on these kind of productions.
2. What do you think about the current movie industry?
I have nothing to think about it, i'm there only to go to the cinema (btw my all time best is multikino at galeria mlociny, trust me just give it a shot- thank me later :-))
I used to watch cartoons with my brother, it's really lovely memory from my childhood
I think that that compony had huge impact in my life when i was really young.
Through the years i think i can find more hidden message in their movies. It's really iteresting that their movies are enyoable for older people too.
2. The Walt Disney company has more money nowadays so their movies are much more diffrent. The technology is better, the company develop and evolve over the years.
The company is doing great marketing job, for example they are planning to open their streaming platform Diseny+, what is natural move for trends today
2. I don’t have an opinion on that, unfortunately. I don’t remember watching cartoons for children in recent years.
My opinion is that Disney Company has lack of the experience of making TV shows and can not scale production, so the cost is relatively high, and the differences between the operation of Internet companies and traditional companies is very big which makes Disney Company become not very optimistic. Anyway I always like to watch Disney cartoons and movies, I grow up with them.

Nowadays, most people like movies with special effects, the movie industry is in line with this aspect, however VFX is really expensive, for example, I know that it cost a year for a Polish CG team of thirty people to do only 4 minutes VFX on a movie footage and the movie company had to pay a huge amount of money, not all the movie companies can afford this.
1. I think I owe who am I to The Walt Disney company. I am reared on disney cartoons. I knew a lot of things due to ther animations. That was truly an unforgettable experience of a life time, not to be missed. I spent plenty of times with amazing characters created by this company. I think that it is good that The Walt Disney company grown. They earned a lot of money so they could develop their ideas. Unfortunately, it's not that easy, beacuse due to thier position without there's not a lot of competition from the other firms.

2. These days movie industry is quite complex. I think that they tried to impose thier political view on others what is terrifying in my opinion. Movies should source of entertainment not a measures to someone world view. In the current movies their is a lot of technical side which improves visual experience, but the message of movies is worse.
2. I think that the film industry is currently focusing too much on quantity rather than quality. I have the impression that I've recently watched some alterations of older classics. The 10th part of the film, which should have ended two parts long ago, is made. The film industry is developing alarmingly in the wrong direction. Adds animations to a movie that doesn't need it or retouches the scene too much.
