Week 4 [04-10.11.19] Good morning, the Broker of Innovation!

In 2018 PWN published a note saying that the Youth Word of the Year is 'vase'. It was the unquestioned winner. The use of that word was increasing rapidly in social media and television. The photos on Facebook were presenting all different varieties of vase: ceramic, porcelain and many others.
If I wanted to point out one word, that is the winner, not just one year’s but of the last ten years, I would point out a word Innovation. It can be found in many academic’s and scientific areas, but its definition is still being mistaken with other words like progress for example. It shows how attractive the word Innovation is.
Innovation requires some sorts of results. Recently, a new profession, the Broker of Innovation has been created. Within its duties we can find commercialization of scientific studies within the Higher Education, that involves selling the innovation developed on a particular university. The question is how one can become the Broker of Innovation and how to increase the success of the creation process?
In order to do so, we should focus on our own experiences. Steve Jobs once said that the best innovators are the people who focus more on their own experiences than the other. Also, the producers and movie directors, in their work they look into their own personal experiences and the past in order to create characters that we can compare ourselves to.
The overwhelming stress shall be treated as the mean to enable us to accomplish new things. Panic forces us to look for new solutions, and the fear forces us to stay cautious and tuned for the new ideas.
What are the other occasions when creative people come up with new great ideas?

1. Give an example, in which you came up with a great idea? Describe it briefly.
2. Do you think you are a procrastinator and why?
3. What would be the one advise that you would give Adam Grant, in order for him to learn how to procrastinate and delay the writing of the next chapter of his book?

1. Give an example, in which you came up with a great idea? Describe it briefly.
I had an idea of app that allows to find each other at parties or big crowds. Sometimes you loose so much time or you don't find with each other after loosing someone and my idea was to create an app specified to events that allows people to find each other easily

2. Do you think I am a procrastinator and why?
No I don't think so :) As I can see, you are the first person putting article this week.

3. What would be the one advise that you would give Adam Grant, in order for him to learn how to procrastinate and delay the writing of the next chapter of his book?
Go to the party, get exhausted and spend whole next day staying in bed doing absolutely nothing
1. I recently came up with the idea of a mobile application that is strictly related to the topic of my engineering thesis. I thought about it for a very long time, but I finally succeeded. I don't want to reveal too much, but I think it's a very niche idea. The application is used for intuitive remembering and reminding things. It seems to me that the design of this type of application doesn't exist on the market yet, so the functions presented in my app will be innovative.

2. Do you think you are a procrastinator and why?
Yes, I am definitely a procrastinator, because I postpone practically every task or duty that I will be given (of course, taking into account very personal tasks, job is another matter). I don't like doing everything at once, I prefer to laze around a bit and think, maybe in the meantime something will come to my mind. Despite putting off time, I always manage to do everything on time, which is why procrastination doesn't negatively affect my life.

3. I think the best way to postpone something, in this case writing a book, is to completely take care of something else. A good solution here is to delve into some new universe, be it a book, a game or a serial. While exploring new worlds, at the back of your head you can have thoughts of your new chapter all the time, it may happen that through this type of procrastination you will get new ideas and develop your imagination.
1. It's a very good idea for applications, but there is already such an application available in the Google Play store and Apple Store. There is a problem with its popularity on the Polish market, they have very poor marketing, and without this the app is not useful.

2. Hahaha, yes thanks. Certainly, it can mean that I'm not a procastinator. In this question I made a mistake and it was about you :)

3. Hmm, this description reminds me of a student life. According to my presentation, this may suggest that students are most likely to discover something wonderful.
1. I hope that your application will soon be available in a mobile store and will turn out to be a hit.

2. It is good that you are aware of it and it does not negatively affect your results in life.

3. I strongly agree with you that delaying can help us to get new ideas and develop imagination. I wonder if you would recommend books related to this topic or totally inverse.
Interesting presentation. Answering yor questions:

1. I don't recall having a brilliant idea, so I can't answer that question.

2. I think sometimes I'm a procrastinator because I like to delay some things in time. For example, when I have something to do on a given date, and this is not urgent, I usually do it in recent days.

3. I think I'm bad at persuading, but if I had to tell him something, I would simply say that we are impatient to publish the book and are curious about his ideas.

1. The great idea of mine would be how to run a pizza restaurant. It would be all about reducing costs of staff as there would be no kitchen and only delivery.

2. Yes, I am. I tend to delay everything until the very last moment. Why would we do english on monday, when you can do it on saturday on sunday :).

3. The only advise I can think of would be to simply do something else. It is reasy to procrastinate when you can do something different and entertaining.

1. My last brilliant idea was about choosing and worrying about Christmas presents for people whom I have to give something but I don't have the slightest clue what would they want. I just simply ask them "Guess what I bought for you" and often this person gives me a lot ideas about possible present that could please them. Works especially good with kids.

2. Yes, I am a procrastinator when it comes to things that i don't want to do or I don't have the inspiration to do it my best way. Lately I'm trying to manage my time better so I don't have to worry about deadlines but I think people tend to work more efficient under a big pressure.

3. Do something else completely not connected to writing, maybe even try to forget about the chapter.

:) I think, if it's a brilliant idea it's better not to share in any "public" place before publish it real. TMO tho

2. Do you think you are a procrastinator and why?
Yeap, bc I can't manage my time very well.

3. What would be the one advise that you would give Adam Grant, in order for him to learn how to procrastinate and delay the writing of the next chapter of his book?
Don't waste your time helping others. Learn how to say no.
1. Recently, I got the idea of starting a business "IT emergency". Many people can't handle with modern technologies above all with computer programs and thanks to such an "IT emergency" at any time everyone by phone could be able to solve such a problem.

2. I am definitely a procrastinator. This is unfortunately not a good feature. I know that I should get on with some issues right now but, usually I leave them and do at the last minute

3.I think that in this case the best would be to find another hobby, some alternatives to writing a book. Sport can be a very good solution here.
1. Too bad you didn't have any great ideas. Maybe you need to believe more in your strength.

2. Yes, this behavior definitely indicates that you are procrastinating. Don't worry, the article says it's good.

3. Hmm, that's an interesting answer: You have to persuade Adam not to write a book there fast, however, you want to tell him that you can't wait with reading his book? Extremely interesting theory. It seems to me that it may not work :(
1. A great idea. I hope you try to introduce some computer scientist you are studying there.

2. Yes, I have the same. Unfortunately, this often fails to do what it takes on time.

3. It will definitely help. Just what exactly he should do. Maybe some netflix show? or joining a gardener's club?
1. Wow is a great idea. Thanks. She will apply it now. I have the same problem. I don't know what to buy for my younger siblings. May they be gifts for which I have enough money; P

2. I strongly agree with you. People work better under time pressure and are able to achieve more ... unless now it is over time: /

3. It's a good solution. But how do you forget about the chapter? Maybe buying presents? It takes me too much time.
1. I understand, in that case I keep my fingers crossed for your great idea

2. Try to read Adam's book. It can contain a lot of interviews or tips on how to manage your time well.

3. Adam has no problem with speech no. He's just not a procrastiner and would like to start being. Try watching the movie again and answer the question.
1. It's a great idea. Definitely people have a lot of simple problems and need quick help, e.g. they don't know why the printer doesn't work.

2. Procrastination is not bad. Adam strives for her and cannot become one. This has its good side.

3. Sport is a great solution. Especially since he can do it with a friend, which will be an additional motivation.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
