Week 2 [14.10-20.10.19] How will the end of the world look like?

When I was a child I was really afraid of the end of the world. Everyone was talking about the biggest and most famous “the end” 2012 and it was a huge case. To be prepared I started to watch movies about how it will look like and what possibilities in case of survival would be.

The end of the world is very exciting and stirring event. People have always tried to predict future to prepare themselves and worn others but unfortunately it was also used to manipulate other people and make them be obedient.

Of course the end of the world should be differentiated. From one hand the end of the world can be understood as planet destruction but on the other hand it is extinction of all leaving species.
In the same way how, life was born, and planet was shaped it is certain that someday it has to end. So far, a lot of conceptions of the end of the world have been created. I think there are some of them, which are the most probable or absolutely incredible.

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/04/29/asteroid-strike-nasa-conducts-drill-end-world/3615392002/

1.     Crash of a giant asteroid
Scientist claim that it has already happened once so there is always possibility of another
crush like this. Even though it is so small as 1 to 100 million chances like that, it happened 66 million years ago to dinosaurs, what made them extinct.

The asteroid crush causes nuclear winter. First after crush there is huge shockwave and tsunami. Lots of debruise rise and form a thick layer. Sun rays are not able to break through this layer for many years or even decades which causes nuclear winter.
This kind of the end of the world means only the end of life not the plant itself.

https://www.123rf.com/photo_22621495_apocalyptic-dramatic-background-giant-tsunami-waves-crashing-small-coastal-town-asteroid-impact-end-.html

2.     Lack of hydrogen
It is for sure distant but also 100 % certain scenario and it means the end of the planet. The only thing that has the power of destroying planet is the Sun. The amount of hydrogen and process of burning out of the sun is calculated for 10 billion yours. Right now, we are on 4.5 billion, so already half way through.

When the red giant will finally consume its hydrogen, it’s going to expand by absorbing Mercury and Venus. That way the Sun will melt the ice caps, boils oceans and turns Earth into Venus or will be totally burned. In that case the only chance of survival for humanity is to find another Earth-similar planet to live.

3.     Climate change
Global warming is the process of slow but constant change of climatic conditions of the surface of the Earth.
Our actions in last 100 years: industrial and technical development, the rise of our population, wars and many others caused the same or even bigger amount of carbon dioxide in the air, as it was originally up to 19th century. It caused the increase of global temperature on the Earth and gave way to extreme weather conditions, rising sea levels, melting the ice caps, species extinction, etc. The process is seemingly slow but as scientist calculate it is likely that next generations can have problems with survival.

https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/indicators/global-and-european-temperature/global-and-european-temperature-assessment-4

4.     Black hole
The last and most stirring conception of the end of the world is being absorbed by black hole. Chances of such occurrence are really small but still possible.

There are millions of black holes in outer space and hundreds of them pass by all the time. We don’t know when and where swallowing by black hole can happen, but it is possible because black holes are unpredictable, always in motion and still unknown fully to scientists.
Such way of demise would be associated with disorder in the dimension of time: it is even possible that we will see future centuries in several seconds.

Of course, there are many other ways of the end of the world such as: overpopulation, nuclear war or even aliens or robots. The end of the world can happen beyond our control or can be caused by humanity. I think people should do their best to stop destructing themselves and our planet.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?

I am fascinated space and topics associated with it. I feel like it has something to do with interesting discovers for example first image of black hole that was taken recently. I think that space might conceal the truth about other beeings and thinghs that might happend in near future. When it comes to the end of the world I heard about a few more ways for our extinction for example a disease, war, drain out of supplies, alien invasion and a few more. If I would survive the end of the world I guess I would try to rebuild it and live to the fullest.

1- who doesn't. The space is a whole different story, we look like an
atomic particle from the space. yes you, me, that guy who comment here, all of us so small. so space became always an interested topic for me. I have seen a documentary called "Cosmos" if you are interested in space in general, you should definitely seen it.
2- idk. i guess people will fed up using their own way for more money. crisis, showing off power, vandalism, zombies, babies. zombabies.
3- I have already survived from the end of the world in 2012, and I am still continuing to my college :v "h-e-l-p".
or we all died and came this new dimension where no one remembers what happened, and it's fun we still have beer

These topics are really interesting as it’s something that most of people could only visualize in their heads. It’s often so hard to imagine that we are only a small piece of an endless universe. I think this is why many of us are so fascinated about it.
Turning to the end of the world - nowadays our world is so dependent on electricity that if we suddenly lost it, it could lead to slow collapse of our society. Without electricity we are out of water, money, fuel, fresh food, heat and so on. (I truly recommend you the book “Blackout” by Marc Elsberg regarding this topic).
If I survived I would try to find as much food and water as possible and maybe try to create a farm where I could grow everything I need to survive. It’s probably also wise to find some other survivors if there are any.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
No, not really.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
I think the higher chance is that people themselves everyday are moving towards destroying the Earth. Unless there is some radical change in our approach to nature etc. i believe that at some point we will waste all of Earths resources that are available.
I think that might be one of the reasons for plans to colonize Mars.

3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
It depends if someone else beside me survived it as well. Being left alone at some point would drove you crazy. However if you are able to live among other survivors then i guess it'd be definitely easier to deal with it.
Damian Drozd said…
Absolutely, these are fascinating topics! Probably because there is still more questions than answers. The most famous and reasonable have been described already, other I can think of are nuclear war and global pandemic. After surviving the end of the world I would relocate somehow to Baia do sancho and perhaps comment some articles on blogger.

I love this topic, during high school, lessons about space were my favorite and of course
I watched many sci-fi movies about space and the end of the world.
There are many predictions about the end of the world and I think each of them which is covered with some research and facts is worth analyzing, because we still don't know what will happened in the future. (Un)fortunately I don't heard about
other ways of the end of the world, but I'm sure there are many different ideas in different culture and religions.
If I would survived the end of the world, I would try to find another survivors and with their help try to rebuild it.
1. Yes i'm intrested both in space and sea depths mostly because there is still something we have to find out or learn about those areas.
2.I can imagine ice age which will last forever but it is not a scenario for me which means the end of the world. All of the popular ideas you have covered up :)
3.I would try to be a new Jesus. I would have a knowledge of what happened before and i would used it to rebuild the new world

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
Even though we didin't discovered everything on earth the outer space sounds more fun and can be. Many popular theories or science fiction movies, comics and books truly shapes our imagination and believes about the other planets, possible life there and also the traveling process.
2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
We can be attack by the creatures not from space but from below our feet, the deep and dark bottom of the sea as potraited in few movies and games even.
There is also a scenerio when a nature decides two wipe us out using all kinds of bacteria, viruses, spores, some mutated animals and plants in order to bring balance as we will fight for our survival in small colonies or we may go fully extinct.
3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
It mostly depends on what type of event would destroy our planet but I will always try to save and help as many others as possible.

Thanks for information about the picture, I did not know about it. I agree with that space is full of secrets and shocking discoveries. I hope we will get to know the truth before our extinction :)

I am interested in outer space topics. I don’t know the particular reason for that but I just think that there are still so many things just waiting to discover and this is thrilling perspective. Also I always enjoyed watching and playing science fiction films/games. I think that most probable end of the world are humans. Either there will be another world war and nuclear bombs will destroy most of living organisms on Earth or we will drown in our own garbage and totally destroy Earth just by exploitation. If I would survive end of the world I think I would try to survive even longer, because for sure it would be much harder than now.

Soo, are you ready for zombabies apocalypse :D I saw something like this in game called The Forest and it was really creepy. Thanks for recommendation of the documentary, I will watch it for sure.

1. Yes, I'm interested in outer space topics. They're interesting to me because I really like physics and there's an entire field of astrophysics study. What's more I'm interested in technology development and space research involves tons of new technological tools and solutions. I'm also a big fan of science fiction literature and these topics are related to each other.

2. I' ve heard also heard about problems with overpopulation - lack of food, higher environment pollution. I think that the big problem for our society are tumors. There is a very significant growth in cancers among our generation. Some scientists think that it may be caused by pollution or things that we're eating (they're pretty modified). Generally speaking, I think that causes of our extinction will probably "come" from earth not fly to us with big asteroid or black hole.

3. I have no idea what I would do. If I survived, probably more people will also be alive. I think I will try to find or contact them.
Piotr Bednarek said…
1. No, I am not intrested in it, because this part of science of not rousing for me, but it doesn't mean that I am not keen on watching falling stars and looking for the North Star.

2. I think that you pinpointed most popular ways of the end of the world, but scientists assume that we may die to a plague. Historically, the Spanish fue that spread accross the world killed about 50 million people. Moreover I heard that the end of world may be cause by nuclear war, I consider this reason plausible, because countries that are involved in international conflict posses nuclear weapons and they are always ready to launch nuclear weapons, for instance North Korea.

3. Firstly I would like to check if someone else survive besides me. After that I will bulit a sheler and create clear water that goals I will treat as my priority. Creating a new world for our offspring will be my next target. Moreover I would like to visit places that are crowded now - before the end of world, I think that it may be an extraordinary experience.
I love things about discovering space, looking for life outside of our planet. Recently, Nobel prizes have been awarded, this year a group of scientists was awarded for the discovery of planets from outside our solar system, where life can be found, sad is that the first such a planet was discovered by a Polish scientist Professor Wolszczan. But coming back to the subject of the apocalypse, I can think of things from movies: the apocalypse of zombies, the stopping of the earth's core, a gigantic tsunami. The most probable scenario is related to the evolution of the stars. If I survived I would first look for others, if I was left alone I would lead a life like in the movie "I am legend" but without zombies :p
Olha Romaniuk said…
1. Yes, I am very interested in space, because I am amazed at how small we are in this world, and it motivates me in a way, because we have so little time to live. But I don't really know the cosmic terms, phenomena and their cause-and-effect relations. I just love to see the mystery and majesty of the unexplored world of space.

2. A zombie apocalypse and an incurable infectious disease that we "dig up" or that will come to us from space. There are many films, series and games on this subject. Very interesting. Especially about zombies :)

3. I'd definitely try to keep everything I know and have heard in my life. I would also describe the end of the world in detail and objectively.
1. Of course I am interested in outer space topics. Personally, flying into the space is one of my biggest dream - when I tell my family about it, they keep telling me I'm crazy. I regret that people have stopped the conquest of space. It is worth recalling that this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing - 50 years ago we were closer to the stars than now. The fact is that during the Apollo program, scientists used computers that were weaker than our smartphones - and yet they made amazing discoveries.

2. In my opinion, World heading to next world war. Currently, Earth starting to be overpopulated, more and more people is born, differences between rich and poor countries becoming deeper. This leads to a deepening of cultural differences and the radicalization of religion. Strong personalities expolit the weaker and the naive -
which now leads to terrorism, and in the future will lead to war.
But if world avoid war, will become huge trashcan - world production is rising.
Effeciency of production new things like cars, phones, clothes is amazing.
Everyday, companies "revolutionary" launches new products. But there is a question - what we gonnado with old ones?

3. Tough question, I wouldn't want to be alone. I would probably try to find people and write down all the reflections and suggestions to warn future generations.
1. Recently I grew interested in this topic, precisely in astrophysics. There are times when you become really curious about how the world works on global scale and then you suddenly start learning more and more. I came across a book of the popular American astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, read it, liked it and continued studying that topic with different pop-scientific podcasts and videos.
2. End of the world by some lethal virus, end of humanity by destroying itself in wars, end by the zombie apocalypse, end with the reign of The Great Old Ones, end by the paws of cruel cosmic hamsters… Should I continue?
3. You know, setting zombie apocalypse as an example again, majority for some reason thinks they would be the one to survive and not just your regular zombie. But if I really were to survive the end of the world, I would struggle to survive and keep my sanity as long as I could – it would be too weird otherwise. You do not survive the damned end of the world just to give up afterwards.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
As a science student, I am definitely interested in them. The reason why human beings continue to advance is derived from the curiosity of the human, humans have been full of illusions and wishes for the sky tens of thousands of years ago, for example my country China, one of the four greatest ancient civilizations, was also full of curiosity about the sky, they used the astrology, and for sure I am also full of curiosity about the outer space.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
I never heard about anything about it, in my opinion, I guess the way will be global warming, and humans will die because of overheated weather, however, we should protect the nature and cherish the earth's resources.

3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
If I will be the only one survived, it will be no different from being alone in hell, then I will suicide. Else I will try to meet other survivors, and then start to think about a serious problem--"oh, I just notice I am already around 1000000 years old since 2000s", just kidding, for sure I will start to search for any undamaged time machine that time, and then return to the past to prevent the end of the world.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
For sure, but there are only 24 hours in a day, and the amount of time I able to dedicate to this topic is very limited. It is very nice though to occasionally hear some news on that topic.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
I'm not an expert on world endings, but I heard it in the physics society the thermal death of the universe is pretty well established and hardly even argued against the concept.

3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
I hope there still would be shops with some pierogi left. Otherwise, why would you even want to survive?
Maciej Szczypek said…
1. I am hugely interested in this field of science because of its mysteriousness. We still have a lot to learn about outer space and we will probably never manage to fully understand it. Another factor that makes me a fan of the topic is the enormousness of the space. Whenever I wonder about it, I start to think differently about our existence on earth.

2. I have heard about scenario, that people would die out due to the lethal virus created in labs by engineers that would be used as a biological weapon. After some time the virus would mutate and it could not be controlled or destroyed by antodotes created againts the first generations of the virus.

3. Firstly I would try to find out if there are any other survivors in the nearest area. There would probably be some, as it would not be possible that I was the only survivor there, unless I was in some kind of uninhabited place. If i did not find anyone there, I would travel somehow and try to find someone, as I would not believe in the scenario, that I am the only person left on the planet.
1.I am not interested in outer space topics but this presentation is interesting. I think that people should learn more about global warming and climate change because we can prevent the end of the world if we change our lifestyle.

2. In many religions there are prophecies about the end of the world. For example the coming of the four horsemen of apocalypse.

3.
If I survived the end of the world I would look for other people, something to eat and water. If I found them, I would try to create living conditions. If it turned out that I am alone maybe I would try to commit suicide.
Roman Batyuk said…
1. I am not very interested in space topics. From time to time I watch some videos in Youtube on NASA and SpaceX channels. It is truly amazing that humans are building such things to travel to other planets. So I can understand why people feel crazy about the space.

2. I haven't heard about other scenarios but I think that humanity is the biggest danger for itself. So we need to be very careful about our future steps.

3. I would try to rebuild everything. Step by step. I heard that scientists are preparing vaults with plants and other things for such disasters like the end of world. So humanity will still have some chances to survive.
Anna Koca said…
Colonizing Mars would be awesome. I'm wondering how much longer will it take to make space travels available for normal people. I agree that being left alone on destroyed planet wouldn't be much fun, especially without any Earth resources left behind.
Anna Koca said…
Thanks for your opinion, I agree that even though not everybody are interested in that topics, global warming is real, and we have to stop climate change by changing our behavior and bad habits.
Anna Koca said…
I understand, sometimes we don't want to believe in the worst scenario. Being left all alone on Earth would be traumatic.
Whenever I'm nervous about exams or stressed by work, I think of that, how huge is space. Than my problems looks soo small and insignificant, that I stop being worried about them.
Anna Koca said…
You made me laugh, I know that feeling when dumplings are your life. When I think about the end of the world, I always hope for perfectly preserved shops, full of good food, without any protection. First few hours of being alone I would be probably eating my stress with pizza and of course dumplings.
Anna Koca said…
Time machine? Smart, why no one thought about that before :) Also, so nice of you that you would want to save the planet instead of going back in time ale live long and happy life in other times. I think I wouldn't resist going back in time to see dinosaurs or ancient Egypt if I had time machine.
1. Yes I interested in outer space topics because these are great and future-oriented tasks. It is simply something more than our entire planet Earth. This is looking for other forms of life in space, looking for different ways of colonization.

2. Only those mentioned in the article. And maybe the zombie invasion, but that's unlikely.

3. If I survived the end of the world, I would first search for something that I could survive - weapons, ammunition and food. Then I would look for other survivors and joint efforts to rebuild what was lost to humanity.
Anton Chechel said…
1. I can't say I'm a big fan of space, but sometimes like to watch movies, science videos at this topic. Why? Difficult to say. Maybe because it is place where you really be alone, or there are so many things to research... It's place which we don't know at all and maybe that's why so interesting

2. Actually I don't know many ways of the world ending. For me enough global warming, overpopulation and nuclear war, because I believe if humanity die, it will by only our fault

3.probability of it is really low, but if it happened, it would be, maybe, the funniest moment in my life; just imagine: you are alone, every building is empty, no rules... First of all, I think, stay alone in supermarket :). And when I end my list of apocalypses stupid things, of course start surviving and looking for somebody who stay alive too
Anna Koca said…
So, you say that if you would have survived the end of the world that could not have been an accident. I like that idea and I agree, nothing happens without the reason. Maybe on your shoulders would be restoration of the civilization?
Anna Koca said…
Actually, I was counting on someone to bring up the subject of overpopulation. In my opinion this is also serious problem but it is not publicized enough. Maybe because there is no specific solution to that problem other than space travels which can let us colonization other planets.
I like your way of solving the problem and thinking many steps ahead and left suggestions to next generations.
Anna Koca said…
Actually, I think it would be more interesting with zombie ;) Let zombies be and prepare yourself when you still have time. I hope you won't have to verify your skills in reality.
Anna Koca said…
Unfortunately, you are absolutely right about overpopulation. We can see terrible
effects everyday, but there is nothing we can do. Maybe, we have to learn to live in such conditions, with modified food, medicines for everything, pollutions and diseases everywhere. Sad reality and even more terrifying future.
1. Space is very interesting, contains a lot of information that has not yet been discovered.

2. I think that for us it will be the end when our planet dies or the only source of energy goes out, i.e. the sun.
Nowadays I doubt that it would be an asteroid because scientists are able to predict it and, if necessary, construct something that will change its flight path

3. It's hard to say, I think I would start trying to rebuild the world. Or I would break down
1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?

I love topics about space! Universe is such interesting thing full of questions and mind blowing answers. I already imagine how it is going to look like in upcoming years if it goes about space exploration. I do not really dwell on "the end of the world" events. Most of them are fake and imaginery ideas of lunatics or greedy people. We could be destroyed by some natural causes but they are not certainly invoked by God or some magic. It depends on the outcome what i would have done as a survivor. If i were left alone as last human i would probably just shoot myself after some time. However if there were others left alive, I would probably work with them to keep humanity alive and restore our civilization.
1. I'm not interested in outer space topics. This subject is so mysterious and extensive. I couldn't even imagine being in space and looking at our planet from the spaceship. I'm having goosebumps just by thinking about it

2. Most famous one was in 2012 with the end of the Mayan callendar. After that incident, I wasn't interested in tracking other ways of the end of the world. I remember being so scared by the time of that year.

3. It's a very difficult question and it depends on the situation i would be in. Would I be the only one who survived? How destroyed would be our planet? This is a pretty generic question that it's difficult to find the answer in my opinion
1)Yess! From early childhood I was fond of cosmology, I even had my own telescope. As a child, I usually went out in the evenings and looked at the stars. At that moment, I certainly did not think about the end of the world, but I was hopeful to notice at least some extraterrestrial life.
2) I've seen lots of movies about end of the world but In my opinion it's rather a fairytale. In fact, everything depends on humanity's actions I mean nuclear testings, our disregard for nature and many other ones. So, I believe that space is harmony. And if we don’t disturb cosmic harmony, everything will be fine.
3) So if we assume that the end came, after all, I don't think that personally I or someone else could survive. And even if I survive will be alone in this world. In turn, loneliness will end me someday.

Anyway, we have to live our lives wisely and think more about positive things and Hope that bad end will never come!

1. Yeap, I'm interested in outer space topics. Most of the universe is undiscovered, which makes it significant and inscrutable. And when you look into it, you realize that there are more interesting things that what people do all day.

2. Actually, there are thousands of ways of the end of the world, I believe. But I also believe in humanity, that we will find solution from each situation.

3. I'll try no to die.

1. Yes, I'm interested in outer space topics. I have always wonder how our world was created and one of the possibilites is hidden above us. Especially film called "Interstellar" really excited me about the space.

2. Some Christian denominations consider the second coming of Christ to be the final and infinite judgment by God of the people in every nation.

3. If I survived the end of the world, first thing I would look for other survivors. Then I would start to collect some supplies and set up a camp.
s15487 said…
1. Yes, I am interested in space. This subject is so mysterious, vast and uncharted and I think this makes all the theories about the outer space so interesting to learn about. The thing is, most of them are just theories and standard physics rules which are taken for granted for our world don't apply for the outer space. The theories are also on a very high level of abstraction and that's why I like it, but some people don't for the same reason.
2. It depends on how we understand the 'end of the world'. I mean, if it just extinction of our species or disappearing of the whole planet. I think the human kind always was the biggest danger for the planet and always gonna be. People contributed to the extinction of numerous species of animals and plants and considering the fact of increasing arms race, people eventually bring to self destruction.
3. I think the end of the world means none of the living beings survive, otherwise it's not really 'the-end' because they could reproduce their species... and this case the question doesn't make sense :) But if, theoretically, I would be the last alive person on the world, I am pretty sure I wouldn't survive too long.
1. Yes, I am interested in outer space topics. Nowadays, we live in times that space travel is not so abstract and human race is working hard to make this happen. So this should be in our interest to know more about space.

2. I don't know any other possible scenarios. The most occurring scenario to me is the one with global warming. What's more, I think self-extinction scenario is the most possible, considering the rapid technology development and our self-destructive predispositions.

3. If I were the only one who survived I would try to stay alive as long as possible and hope for anyone to turn out. If not, then It wouldn't be that bad and I think we would figure something out.
Marta Matysik said…
1. Some topics, of course. For me it's just interesting. I'm not talking about aliens or looking another planet for humanity, but about black holes or other phenomena occurring in space. The topic of the next asteroid that is about to hit the Earth is also a topic not worth much attention.
2. I don't know any other theories.
3. I don't know. I hope that before this happens, our generation will be gone.
Mateusz Szych said…
1. Space-related topics are very interesting. Space is a very interesting and complicated topic. I like to read about new space discoveries. But I'm more interested in topics related to times less distant than the end of the world.

2. The only other end of the world I heard about that was not mentioned in the article is the biblical one.

3. I really don't know. This is a very abstract topic. The end of the world will take place after my death, so I don't pay attention to such topics. I would probably start looking for shelter, food and drinking water.
1. Topics related to the cosmos are always very interesting to me, although I never look for any information by myself. Often these are just different posts or articles that are displayed on the main Facebook board or other social networks, only then I drill down the topic and search for the details that interest me. The cosmos remains unexplored, we know very little about it, which is why every new information about black holes, other galaxies, or about life forms on other planets makes my shivers go down my back.

2. I really like the genre of post-apocalyptic fantasy, and to this topic I like the vision of the end of the world, presented in the universe of series of post-apocalyptic role-playing computer games called "Fallout". According to the plot of this series, the energy crisis caused by the depletion of oil stocks led to the period called the Wars of Raw Materials - a series of conflicts that began in the 2052, resulting in war between West and East. All these events eventually led to the great war of 2077 - a two-hour shelling of nuclear missiles on an apocalyptic scale. As a result, post-apocalyptic wastelands were created around the world, being the site of the game series. I think that such a scenario would also be possible in our case, and nuclear war, leading to the destruction of our planet and mankind should also concern us.

3. This is a very difficult and vague question, I think I would need more context to answer correctly. I suspect, however, that my survival would be possible by hiding in some shelter, strictly adapted to the event of the end of the world. If the end of the world were to happen, I think it would be impossible to come out of such a shelter to the surface. I think that, along with the rest of the people, who also hid underground in other similar shelters, together we would create a new civilization that would live underground.

1. To be honest, I'm not intrested in outer space topics. For me it's very abstract subject which doesn't fascinate me, but I'm impressed by people who dedicated their lives to discover the secrets of unnknown.

2. We survived more "world ends" than we think. For some people even trivial, minor inconvinience can be "The end of the world". We tend to forget that world can end personally - a break up or getting fired. It depends on the definition, but the Bible version of world end is pretty common.

3. If i survived the end of the world - was it really the end of the world..?

1. I am really fascinated with the topic because it is very mysterious and full of secrets, we are trying to find the answers for.

2. I met with the opinion that artificial intelligence will take over the world.
Specialists predict that by 2040 AI will be able to match human intelligence, and perform most tasks as well as human or even better.
I think that AI itself doesn't pose a big threat, but if we imagine it as a weapon in the hands of wrong person, the opinion about the end of the world by AI becomes very likely.

3. It's hard to say, I would probably look for survivors, and together We would try to rebuild the world step by step, and if I could not find anyone, I would probably write a book describing the world I met, maybe someone will ever find it.

1. More space topics, It's great and interesting for me. Space consist of secrets, it would be great to know something new.
2. Who knows, maybe we are already dead and it's only a hell where we are. Or we are in "matrix" :) . Disease, climate change, asteroids, aliens: such things are less possible than, nuclear war for example. I think that end of the world is more "implementable" by human stupidity and sins but not by the far asteroid or alien. And what is actually "end of the world", because every alive has its own one.
3. When I'd be old, I'd show my descendants the "2012" movie and say them that I'd survived. :D
1. Of course I'am, the cosmos is one big unknown, hiding a lot from us. Compared to it, we are like little children who have just learned to crawl and began to discover the world. I'am very excited for future discoveries.

2. In my opinion the most possible scenario of the end of the world is nuclear war or the emergence of a super bacteria resistant to any antibiotics and other medicines. Even now we have a problem with the production of newer and newer antibiotics that allow to fight some strains of bacteria which are adapting to new drugs.

3. To be honest its hard to say, in my opinion something like the end of the world is a very subjective concept. Yes it's true humanity might die but animals or other types of organisms could survive. Can we really call it end of the world if something else is still living on it?

1. Yes, I am very interested in these kinds of topics. It seems to me that progress in understanding such things is an indicator of how much humanity has advanced, it is a kind of indicator of the technical and mental progress of mankind. If you understand how such things are arranged, you can predict similar things that are indicated in your article.

2. If we take the scale of our planet, then I heard about another outcome. This is the depletion of resources on our planet, a kind of crisis in all areas that are possible with improper use of natural resources or with overpopulation of the planet. But to get to this, a lot of time must pass. Although scientists say that this process has certainly begun, since in most cases now people are only interested in a business idea, and they unlimitedly use all the resources of our planet.

3. It’s not so easy to do. In the best case scenario, people who survive can defer civilization anew. But there must be an incredible coincidence that the best minds must survive in order to apply all knowledge to a new life.
1. Not really. It's not my topic, I don't like it
2. Zombie apocalipse! But to be more serious I heard about overpopulation where there will be too many people in the world, not enough food, water etc. I don't know anymore, maybe because I'm not interested in that
3. Well, depends if I would be the only one who survived. If not I would find other people and then try to cooperate with them. If yes there would be nothing to do to be honest
1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
I am not an expert in these topics but I always enjoy reading about them. I think it is because there is always something mysterious about outer space. We know very little about it and there is so much more we could learn with technology advancement.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
Probably those caused by humans themselves. Nuclear war comes to my mind. Although I am not sure if we are capable of destroying Earth I am sure that we could wipe whole life from it.
3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
I would look for other survivors most likely. Being the only one that survived would be a nightmare.

1. No, personally I am not interested in space topics. I try to live with what I have and I don't wonder how my life will end
2. Predictably, the world will end with a nuclear war. Probably the firing from both fighting sides can be so huge that the cloud of dust will rise for a few years, completely killing life on earth. (I saw a short film about it on Kurzgesagt)
3. It may sound funny and laconic, but I would go to the fridge to grab and drink a cold beer while watching how the world collapse. Looking at the scale of this enourmous damages, I probably wouldn't be able to survive alone.

1. Hello, outer space is an interesting subject of considering. It seems to be so distant from our lives, but in fact, we are the part of this "outer" space, living under its rules that we constantly explore and participating in its events. Somewhat those space events and processes, they seem to be a representation of our mundane lives, but in an unbelievably different scale. There are endlessly complicated processes of chaos, destruction, supernovas, but there can be also incredible harmony and balance between forces of the universe we live in.

2. When it comes to the end of the world, from the beginning of our civilization people are trying to predict it. I dont know of anything that could happen certainly. There would be end for the world that we know someday, but i believe people are capable of adapting strongly to new situations and we will figure something out so it would not be the end but just a change, probably huge.

3. If i would survive the end of the world i would be totally amazed and if above that it went good for me, ill be blissfull. But it would be a horryfing disaster if id survive alone. If that would be the case ill probably went insane.
1. I am very interested in the topic of outer space but now much more in aesthetic point of view then I was before. At first I was fascinated with science research and learning all the names and facts but had a long break and now check it mostly because it's a huge inspiration for my works in whole its beauty.

2. I mostly heard about the climate changes and nuclear war.

3. If I survived for example the nuclear war I would probably have to befriend with cockroaches I guess. Or become their leader!
1.Yes, I am but I’ve never gone in this topic seriously. It’s fascinating that in the other galactic there might be a whole different life.

2.The most Hollywood way, of course, a zombie apocalypse.

3. If I survived, I would try to rebuild the world step by step, maybe even in a better way than it is today.

1. Outer space topics are always very interesting. We already know a lot about world but it's still only small grain in whole big universe. Hence I don't agree with Fraser Cain from video, even if he's much more knowledgeable in this topic, that there is almost nothing that could completely destroy the Earth. I think there are tons of such things. We just don't know them yet

2. Considering that we mean wiping off human population and not destroying planet itself:
virus plague,
reverse of magnetic field, I think it had its own name, but don't remember what exactly,
mutation, zombies included :p (although it's virus plague too I guess?),
super volcano eruption,
another ice age (and no, we're not responsible for it, there were glacials and interglacials in past),
running out of resources,
normal war, why limit yourself to nuclear ones ;),
and probably many, many other.
If someone is creative enough, he can probably come up with a whole list of scenarios for end of the world.

3. It all depends on how the end of the world happened, what would be chances of meeting other survivors, what would be 'left' for use etc. It's hard to answer this question if there are many possibilities.
1. Yes, I am interested in the topic of space. From an early age, I loved watching BBC science films about the Solar system, the Sun and other space objects. I'm still trying to learn something new about space.

2. You have listed the main ways that are possible. But I think that at the end of the world humanity itself will be to blame.

3. I would look for people who also managed to survive, and we would try to live together, helping each other.
I love the idea of the end of the world. If I would survived the end of the world, I would try to find another survivors and with their help try to rebuild it. The end of the world is the only way to know the answer to all questions.

No, I really don’t. I’m totally okay on the Earth and I definitely don’t want to know if aliens exists. While people on Earth still cannot get along, while there are racist, homophobic and other issues are present, how can we get along with the aliens? I mean what if they’re really green or purple or whatever, will you blame them for that? What if they’re multiplying by fragmentation? We’re not ready for that.
(Yes, I’m joking, don’t look at me like that)
People will kill themselves anyway. Climate changes or maybe we’ll drown in our own garbage, who knows? Anyway if the end of the world happens, it’ll be because of us.
According to horror movies, the first person to die is usually the blond girl so I have no chances to survive. But if I do, I'd finally get some rest I guess. Some good post-apocalypse sleep, you know.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
I'm not interested in outher space topics, I prefer to stay on earth.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
I only know about them from movies so maybe zombie apocalypse but i don't believe in any of them.

3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
First I would try to survive, adapt to "new" world and then look for people to live with

In my life there was a time when I followed curiosities from space. There was and still is one problem in all this. How do I know if what is being described is true or myth? I don't know anything about it, so how do I know if the new AWESOME news is real?

I think that the end of the world is simply death. Then for the person who died the end of the world.

I don't know if I would like to remain the last person in the world. It will be weak. If I survived the end of the world, I'd look for other people who could survive. I would like to rebuild the world.
I am very interested in topics related to space. I think that many people are curious because there are many issues that we do not know the answer to.
2. You've described all the major theories about the end of the world.
3. Hmm ... if I survive the end of the world, I will sit on the ground and look at the
sunset and thank God for this opportunity

1. Of course I'm interested. It's another beautiful world with its own rules and secrets.

2. I think that in a few decades people will exterminate some resources or/and creatures. This step will blow up the whole ecosystem and cause major changes to everything.

3. I would try to find other survivors and create the first colony in a new world together.

1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
Of course, I am interested in topics about space, after all there is a lot of interesting information about what can astound.
2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
Maybe you here about Gray goo.
3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
It is difficult to imagine the conditions in which one will have to survive, since there may be different ends of the world, but I prefer not to think about it at all, now everything is fine, and I hope that nothing bad will happen in the meantime.
1. I watch a whole youtube channel on topic.
2. There is one more, the scariest one: nuclear war.
3. I would kill myself, because this life would make no sense anymore.
1. I used to be interested in this topic in my childhood, but now I have interests that I can impact to for example economy.

2. I heard about epidemic apocalypse. In theory there can be some virus or bacteria which humankind cannot win. We have in history some of these events for example Black Death (the Great Plague) which was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history about 200 millions people in Europe in XIV age.

3. It is difficult question, I think it depends on what it would look like. But it's still hard to imagine. It's this type of question when we don't know what we will do if we are not in this situation.

1. Yes, I am interested in the subject of Space. Space gave us good understanding about how our world works. Yet, there are still unsolved problems, answers to which will probably be found by studying Space.

2. One of the most interesting “ends of the world” in my opinion was the first one. It is called “the Great Oxygenation Event”, it occurred because simple life forms started to produce so much oxygen by photosynthesis that it almost killed all life on Earth.
Now, however, the last “end of the world” will be called “the Great Carbon-Dioxidation Event”.

3. I don’t know, I guess there won’t be much to do on a planet that was a subject to “end of the world” event.
1. Are you interested in outer space topics? Why?
This topic interest me on average. I have no influence on this. This subject seems distant to me. I prefer to deal with planet development than to think about the end of the world.

2. What other ways of the end of the world do you know, or you have heard about?
Nuclear war. Just because it hasn't exploded so far doesn't mean it can't start at any time. We have around 19,000 nuclear heads around the world. Of which over 4,000 of them are those in combat readiness.

The second scenario is a huge explosion in the sun. An enormous explosion in the Sun does not necessarily end life on Earth. Explosions on the wall are tormenting almost every day, and so far nothing has happened to us. At the moment, we are not able to say exactly when the explosion will occur large enough to end life on our planet.

3. What would you do if you survived the end of the world?
If I survived the end of the world, I would look for other people who survived the disaster. we would start looking for food and shelter for the next few weeks.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
