Week 2 [14.10-20.10.19] Corporation vs start up

Corporation vs start up

Have you ever wondered how it is like to run your own company? It turns out that the way of thinking is entirely different when you are no longer a corporate employee but start to run your own thing. If you watch the short movie below, you will also find out what could happen if you apply a start-up mentality into a corporate environment.

I am curious about your answer to following questions:
  1. Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike about the opposite option
  2. Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?

1. From the perspective of a student who is trying to get his first experience i think both options are great as long as you have a opportunity to learn and develop there quickly. I applied for my first bigger job over 1 year ago in a corporation and i really do not regret my choice. I think the advantage of working in a start-up is being able to push/implement anything that is needed very fast. The same in a corporation will require to gather all approvals, assess risks etc. before actually doing it even thought the change itself might be very small and considered as standard procedure.

2. Yes, sure. But i doubt it would be related to IT sector. I'd rather set up my own company based on my passions someday. Nowadays i work full-time but i had the opportunity for a year to work part-time and i think that the ideal solution for me would be to work part-time in a corporation and part-time for my own company. Sometimes when you work all 8 hours per day in the same field in might get overwhelming but working there only for 4 hours and then switching to job that is not related at all to your corporate job just feels less staggering and you do not feel like you are working as much.
Yes, I can only say that I agree with you. There is indeed a lot of bureaucracy in a corporate environment, but it has some advantages like for example promotions, or salary rises. In a corporation they are usually well defined as opposed to startups, in which you have to ask your boss and arrange a strange conversation with someone you know very well, because the company is small.

Are you sure that you would be able to remain productive with only 4 hours of work a day? From my personal experience I can say that such short time does not allow to do anything significant. Hardly did I turned on the computer and I had to leave and go to school. That's annoying for the entire team.

Well I would say for now I would like to work for a smaller company or a start-up just because there is good atmosphere, everyone knows each other and its easier to learn something important from other people. I feel like in small company or start-up employer esteem his employees a little bit more than in a corporation. I would like to start my own company someday but for now I want to work for a few companies to learn everything I can from them and be able to manage my own company someday.

Actually, I've been working in startup for a few months and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is great, small teams makes it easier to focus on developing product without unnecessary bureaucracy and it's easier to stay up-to-date on a project status. In my opinion, smaller the company is, more engaged employees are in projects because people feel that their job impacts the company. Definitely I would like to set up my own company someday, just need more experience as a developer.
Are all aspects of such small team so great? What about "uncomfortable" topics like salary rises, holidays, bonuses .etc? If your boss is your friend, how do you handle problems with late payments or lack of holidays? The atmosphere in such team is great for sure, but isn't it more unstable than a corporation with very well defined procedures of such situations?

Good luck with founding your own company. I wish situation in Poland was entrepreneur-friendly, but unfortunately it isn't. Someone has to pay for all of those stupid social benefits.
Would you like to become a manager instead of pursuing the path of a senior developer? That would mean committing yourself to business instead of coding. A lot of people choose such solution and become successful, so I wish you good luck!

The atmosphere in a start-up could be better than in the corporation, but what about some procedures like for example salary rises, holidays, or sick leaves? It may be difficult to talk about those things with a boss who is in fact your close colleague. It just seem to be more unstable in a long term.

1. I don't have experience in any form of work. Well i'm just going through labs in corporation and i can say that working there teaches me a lot. Right now i want to spend some time in a big company and later when i'm gonna be the best at my job i'm gonna start looking for very small company or start-up just to raise my "own baby".

2. Yes I would like to do it or just join the new one. It must be really cool to be your own boss and see how your own company is growing

For know without that much of experience I prefer a corporation. It's better to start and easier to have someone over your shoulder that can help you like a tutor or mentor. But after gaining some experience and becoming more independent i would love to try work in the startup. As like in the viedeo corporate always has a limit and to really blossom as a person and employee.

2. Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?
I only thought about it in dreams, but maybe some day in a group of people I know very good it would become possible to start a business and something creative and unordinary.

Both, corporations and smaller companies or starts-up have advantages and disadvantages. I believe that depends on person character and personality. In my case I know I would work better in smaller companies than huge corporations. Firstly, I like to be independent and manage me time by myself. In that system I'm the most effective.
Secondly, I love variety of my responsibilities. I'm organized, systematic person, who can handle many different tasks.
Thirdly, I love to be a part of projects, I get really involved and give 100% of myself.

2. Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?

Maybe some day if I think of a perfect idea for my company. I'm sill looking for inspiration and idea for some profitable business. I can't take care of things which I am not completely sure of.
Maciej Sadoś said…
In a smaller company you certainly don't have so much bureaucracy and millions of higher managers above you. You are closer to the metal and sometimes you could be more parent than babysitter. On the other hand, in a corporation your path and everything is rather well defined so it's more organized. All in all, personally I would rather choose a "smaller" company or startup over a big corpo for now.
I definitely would like to set up my own company one day. We will see when, where and with who, but it is surely something that I would like to try and experience in my life.
You don't have experience in ANY form of work? But you wash the dishes sometimes, or take out the rubbish :) ?

That's great that you are learning on those labs and you want to be the best at your job. With such attitude you'll certainly achieve a lot no matter if it would be a corporation, or a start-up.

I wish you good luck as your own boss :) In my humble opinion that's the best you can possibly achieve in terms of professional life.
You are right about easier start in a corporation, but please be careful and always think critically, because very often all you can find in such place is old technology and people who hadn't learned anything new during last ten years. There are exceptions of course and on the other hand you can encounter an opportunity which would speed up your career. I think that it is important not to be afraid to change the employer frequently and just look for the place which is the best for you as long as your experience is low and it doesn't bad in the CV.

I hope you will find a creative and innovative idea someday. With such idea and a lot of hard work you can build an empire.

1. After working few months in a big company I have to admit that in my next job I will try my hand in smaller company. In corporation everything takes so many time. For example if you want to get an access to some resource you have to submit an application and then wait so much time to get the permission which is quite annoying. Moreover you walk past many people who dosen't know. It's not so bad but I would prefer working in surroundings where everyone knows each other.

2. Yes, I'd like to set up my own company someday but first I have to get more knowledge and experience.
According to your description of yourself, you are probably the best employee one can hire :) I assume you could leverage such abilities and being self-organised in a corporation as well, but that of course depends on the individual case of particular company and its culture of work.

I really hope that your attitude to work is, or will be recognised. I don't know if there is something more discouraging than lack of appreciation of exceptionally hard and efficient work.

Finding an idea is probably the hardest thing to overcome before founding a company. As for being not sure - sometimes we have to take a chance before the competition steal the opportunity.
Exactly as you said - there are pros and cons of both types of companies. It is worth trying both :)

The experience with own company is probably priceless. Successful, or not, it is not something you would regret.

1. I think I would like to try both of them to understand the differences in everyday work.
Probably for the people with no or very small experience corporation is better - you don't have to work individually, you always have somebody to advise or even teach you. On the other hand, you can't be independent in your working and can't choose solution or technology.
For futher career, it's also good to work in a start-up, where you can learn to be more independet in your job, but also take more responsibility for it.

2. I wouldn't like to set up my own company. I don't like paperwork, thinking about financial issues and so on. I prefer to concentrate on my work, not other issues, so running a start-up isn't for me.
Yubin said…
1. I like both of them, in corporation you could learn more and have a steady income, in such big company you could also increase your social relationship which may give you a lot of potential help in future when you will change to work in start-up. In a start-up you may notice that most of the people that end up becoming CEO of corporations are usually employees that run their jobs with start-ups, Jack Ma is a typical example.

2. Yes, that would be a real challenge, anyway, before that, we have to have good ideas that can attract the market, and don't forget about financial calculations, otherwise everything is risky, besides, the most important thing is to enrich your knowledge first, because learning to run before you learn to walk is always dangerous.

1. I think I would prefer a smaller startup company. I think there will be more opportunities to develop in it, since it will be possible to easily trace the results of its activities in it. In a large corporation, you are part of a large team and your personal successes are drowning in a large amount of work. Moreover, in a small start-up company, it is possible to see not only those moments with which you are directly dealing, for example, the technical part, but also moments that are clearly visible in terms of doing business. Why is this so important? Read the answer to the next question.

2. Based on the answer to the first question that I am interested in the business concept, I would not mind participating in the organization of a startup company. So far I have not had such an experience. But it seems very interesting to me. I’m not quite sure what type of thinking I have, each of them has its own advantages.
Pawel Bluszcz said…
1. Personally, I have already worked in 3 companies of various sizes. I think the worst is working in corporations. The level of bureaucracy, and how much you have to do a simple matter is abnormal. Also in my opinion, working in a startup is a transitional job. We can worry that the financing of the project will end soon, then we lose our day-to-day work. I think the best choice is a small company. There is stable employment, you know almost all employees, as well also employers often go to the employee's hand by allowing him for any form of employment.

2. Looking at how some employees are spoiled, I'm not going to start a business. The selection of bad employees at the beginning of business opening may be equal to its downfall. I do not want to take a risk.
1. I love this question because I've already had the opportunity to work in both of these environments. I currently work in a start-up, and previously I had a three-month internship in a typical corporation. To be honest, I like the atmosphere in the start-up more, because the company's functioning and management style are only imitating the corporate style, but it's actually not the same. All activities look similar: working time, work records, how tasks are performed, career levels, etc... which I personally like. Although, the start-up is much smaller and "looser", i.e. fewer people work there, the atmosphere is not tense, everyone is in constant contact, and barriers between departments simply do not exist. This combination is perfect for me. The alleged corporate style plus a pleasant working atmosphere creates something unique. Unlike corporations, where as an employee you only really interact with people from your team, you don't know how the company really works, you don't know the organizational culture, and sometimes even the company's goals.

2. I don't think I would ever want to start my own business. I've never seen myself in a leadership position, and I don't feel like a leader. Anyway, looking at the current CEO of the start-up in which I work, I can say that such a role is extremely difficult. I prefer to work at my own pace as an ordinary, gray employee. (At least for now :)
1. Having an experience with both a corporation and a smaller company I'd say I prefer corporation, at least for now. Some say that smaller companies are better for a career growth but I’d say it always depends on a person and their ability to position themselves. Aside from that, corporations offer the same as smaller companies but bigger and better. Start-ups are simply not for me.
2. Only if some extraordinary good idea will hit me one day, otherwise I don’t wish for that.
1. Right now I'am working in company that is a hybrid of small corporation and startup mentality and to be honest I like it this way. Corporations always scared me with their bureaucracy and lack of freedom. On the other hand, in the case of startups, sometimes you need to devote more time to them and be more involved in their development. In this case, the choice depends very much on the person and how much he wants to get involved in the work. I would personally choose a hybrid of corporate approach and startup.

2. I have not thought about it so far, it may change when I come up with some interesting idea.
Maciej Szczypek said…
I am now an emploee in a big corporation, but we do not have this typical corporate atmosphere there. There is no "9 to 5" working rule and mentality in my team. Nowadays it really depends on the employer, what working conditions he or she wants to provide to the workers. Of course, the conditions in coprotations can not be just like those in smaller companies and startups, but they can surely be similar. I would not mind working for any type of employer as far as he or she provides me this nice and working friendly atmosphere.

I currently have my own economic activity, but its only for B2B contract reasons as a I am a programmer. In the future I wish I could run my own business, employ some workers and provide services from my field.

1. In my short career I worked in a small company (about 50 employees) and later in corporation. And what can I say - I would prefer to work in a small company. It's hard to find a family atmosphere in a corporation. If you work there, you are a tiny element of a huge machine. You often don't understand the problems that you need to solve.
I have the impression that people working in a corporation do everything to work as little as possible - what I mean that they blame others for mistakes in their projects. Because of this situation it is hard to make friendly relations.
As I mention, it is easier to create a family atmosphere in a small company. Also you can see your influence on the company's development. I have never worked for start-up, but this type of business is closer to small-company than corporation.

2. In my opinion, everyone should open something of their own business. Of course, few will succeed, but all will start to respect private entrepreneurs.
Back to the topic, I would like to start up my own business, but currently, I don't have any ideas what I could produce. However, from time to time, I brainstorm to find new concepts.
1. I think startup can be much less limiting. The path to grow is wider and results can be much more effective as the guy in the video said. Although corporate jobs are much more safer and less stressful so I can see why it can be attractive to some people.
2. My goal is to start my own business but first I need to gather some experience how the market works and maybe finish some postgraduate studies on how to run a company or on economy. Just to increase the chances for success.
Interesting discussion. Answering the questions:

1. I don't work yet, but I think I would choose a corporation. Why? Because the corporation has a documented workflow. Next month I will have to do internships, so I will probably go to a corporation because there will be mentors who can advise me on my job.

2. I don't have my own company, but I have my own business plan for the future that I would love to implement my ideas. Of course, start a business later.
Piotr Bednarek said…
1. Personally, I don't pay attention to company size, becuase all of them can offer something intresting. For instance, big corporation may offer better benefis package and workshops for employees. When it comes to smaller company they offer benefis that are tailor-made.
In my opinion the most important is to have opportunity to put knowlenge into practise and learn new things everyday. Moreover I pay a lot of attention to a relationship between members in team. I think that it is crucial to build good relation and communicate freely together because because we can have more fun at work.

2. Currently I am not going to run my own business, because I think that it entails understanding and dealing with many issues, for example finance, accounting and marketing. I think that it is better to work in a company at the moment because I can broaden my knowlenge and I don't need to worry about things that I mentioned above. Perhaps in the future I will set up my business, as the proverb goes never say never.

1. It all really depends on what kind of enviroment you get into as well as who would you work with. If I were involved with some start-up and there wouldn't be a chemistry between co-workers then I definitely wouldn't like to be there. In corporation I think it is less significant, as you work there to get paid, right? However, if I were to choose between a fine start-up or a fine-corporation I would pick start-up. In this kind of enviroment you are a something, when in case of corporation you are just another unit.

2. In the future, yes. Someday once i have a good idea for a company I would like to set up something myself. However, before doing that there is so much to learn for me, from nearly every aspect I can think of.
1. I'm currently working in a small company, at the moment it is enough for me. I have little time right now because of work and study. The advantage of working in this type od company is a very good atmosphere and no competition. The only downside is that the earnings are too low.

2. It would be great to set up own company in the future. The knowledge, experience and luck are needed to make this dream come true. I know that it isn't easy but for someone who realy wants something there is no difficulty.

1. Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike about the opposite option.

I've never worked in start up. However, I had the opportunity to undergo several internships in large corporations. The beginnings have always been interesting in a positive sense. There were many things to learn, but over time it began to get monotonous. At start up, I think the situation is constantly developing.

2. Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?

I set up a company twice, a sole proprietorship and currently a company(sp z oo). The company I own is a branch of a family business, was created for tax and legal purposes and with expected results operates on the market.

1. I prefer smaller companies, smaller companies give more freedom and are more empathic per employee. The only disadvantage of smaller companies is earnings.
What I don't like about corporations. 1. Treating an employee, 2. Promotion to a higher position, often requires a lot of dedication,
3.Development - sometimes difficult

2. I would like to start my own business, this is one of my dreams.
As a student, It is much more easier to get experience in bigger companies than smaller ones. If it comes to quality of knowledge you gain there, it is difficult to judge. Personally i pick corporations for a start as intern but in the future I would like to work in smaller company. I do not like the idea of leading company and having workers under me. I do not think i will ever establish my own firm.

To the following moderators: could you please pick up a video with a more comfortable speech speed? I almost fell asleep for this video, I had to watch it in X2...

1. As a first job, I would like to have a corporate job: bonuses, fixed hours of work, paid leave, paid sick leave, and a good opportunity to learn how a large machine should work. But in the future, I'm thinking about creating something of my own. In turn, a startup is a great place for rapid development. Here you can see how to create this great mechanism, errors and their solutions.

2. I would like to. But it's more like having a business, not a corporation.
1.Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike about the opposite option
I am of the opinion that if we start with the harder work earlier, the more and faster we are able to achieve. As the first job I would prefer to get in a large corporation. Thanks to them you can usually develop and get certificates. Smaller companies are unlikely to guarantee this.

2.Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?
No, I prefer to focus on myself and my dreams, my loved ones. Establishing a company involves a lot of responsibilities. It also absorbs most of our time. I prefer to devote this time to things other than work, we have only one life and nobody will live for us, we spend enough time at work without it.
1. Large corporations already have their success in the market. These are already recognizable firms with a good reputation and large earnings. On the other hand, the requirements for employees are much higher than in startups. It is about your knowledge and the time you are willing to devote to the work, you must be as professional as possible and know your job well. Therefore, it will be much more difficult to get such a job, especially for students or people who have recently graduated. As the beginning of my career, I would choose a small firm where you can gain experience.

2. No. To create your own company you need a lot of knowledge, patience, effort and time.
1. I would like to work for a smaller company simply because people inside such ocmpanies feel so united, simmilar to second family. That mentality alone may encourage you to come to the office and work with a smile on your face because you don't feel as much stress as in a big corporations.

2. I would never like to set up my own company. I feel like i don't have manager skills to do it. I would rather focus on my work as an employee, with much less paperwork than as a manager of company.

Start-ups are too unstable, they can go bankrupt at any time. I will feel safer in an ordinary, stable company.

2. I'm not planning to start my own business. Running your own business requires a lot of responsibility. I prefer to do my job, not manage the entire company.

1. I would probably choose a smaller company, but I don't refuse to work in a corporation. I have already had the opportunity to work in small businesses, so I know that this is something for me. Corporations cannot be rejected because it is also a form of development and an employer on the labor market. To start your own business, I think you need a good idea and experience from other companies to know how not to finish at the beginning. So it’s too early now.

2. No plans. But I don’t know what will happen in the future.
1. I would rather work for a smaller company then a huge corporations. Mostly because I would like to work as an artist and no matter if it's an animation studio or graphic designing or concept arts or any other I personally think it's important to cooperate as a team properly. To have a constant contact with any other member of team project.
I don't believe that something really extraordinary can be created intentionally when there is no cooperation in working team and it can be problematic when there is simply too many people working on their own parts of creation. Uniformity of work and agreement can be a real problem in large corporations.

2. I would like to work the most as a freelancer. So taking some orders and commissions from both privet people and companies or studios.
For now i've been only able to sale individual works on special artistic events or in internet so I guess I can't call it decent work (earnings are very irregular and uncertain) however, this is the perfect start to develop working as freelancer in the nearest future i hope.
1. I think the most suitable choice for me for now is a smaller company. The thing about corporations is that everything is very strict, there are procedures that you have to follow and most of the times you are just a piece, often not too meaningful, of a huge company. On the other hand, there are startups, when your work matters way more than in a corporation, but startups tend to be disorganised. What I find the best for me is organised workflow, but without those strict procedures. Also, I like to work on a product that is already past its' initial development. It is easier to work on that kind of a project.

2. Yes, when I get enough experience I'd like to start a small company. Maybe things would turn out fine, and It would be a big success, but even if it doesn't, I think it would be a great experience.

1. I don't know which one is better, but I think that both are good. I think that in a start-up you have to be more independent and you have to be responsible for your own work. In a corporation you can learn more and have a steady income, in such big company you can also increase your social relationship which may give you a lot of potential help in future when you will change to work in start-up.

2. I would like to set up my own company someday. I have a lot of ideas and I want to create something unique and different. I don't know if I would be able to do it, but I would like to try.
1) I would enjoy working for some corporation. I believe that the working environment in such companies is much better. Because of organizational aspects, huge perks, and It will be a benefit on your CV. Usually, in corporations members of the team have a strong sense of camaraderie and a good work ethic. I would like to work with openminded, responsible, competent, people with a good sense of humor who like to get things done. It’s important for me to feel that I can trust my team members and always do my best.
Well, regarding the disadvantages, I would expect a lot of work and tight deadlines.
2) After some period of time when I will get a good experience from working in other companies, I plan to realize my own startup. Of course, it's necessary to have high skills in order to set up a company. That's why it will be useful to make new friends and have some contacts from "the previous companies" that I worked in. As we know a good company is where teamwork in a high priority.

1. As for me most suitable choice is start-up or smaller company as I worked for some time ago. Mostly corporate style is very hierarchical and strict, it benefits only by paying "mercenaries", on the other hand smaller or start-up companies inspire their members. For me it's better to be inspired to work and have a great time, but not spending just some hours doing what i don't want for money
2. Sure, it would be great, if I start my own company I'll get more benefits and income (better tax situation). I would be able to work for myself but not for someone and increase the value of my company and myself in future.

1. As a potential employee I’d prefer start-up company. Why? The answer is very simple, if you start working for the company from the beginning of development process you became very important part of the project, you are a part of blue-ribbon team and your work, effort and merits are appreciated. It's an entirely different situation if it’s a about to start a new job in a company which has already been up and running for a few years or maybe even is a key player, in such companies very often you are underestimated by your boss.

2. Yes, It’s my dream to run my own business in the future. I know that owning a company, which was established and developed by myself, would make me feel really fulfilled.

I think that all these kinds of companies have both pros and cons. In a corporation, you might have more specific things to do and your responsibilities are more clear. On the other hand work in a small company might be less unified and you might have bigger flexibility. I think the ideal solution for me would be sth in the middle ... I mean a middle-size company with a mixed culture :) I think start-up culture is strictly related to a very long (even longer than working overtime in a corporation) worktime and tight deadlines because the budget is usually tight as well and you need to deliver a product as soon as possible.
I would say that working in a nine-to-five job would be way much comfortable, but on the other hand, if you contribute to a startup at a very early stage, it might be really profitable in a longer perspective (like some shares in a company).
When I was in secondary school, I asked my dad to register a company for me and I try to manage a small tech vortal, selling advertisements, cooperating with hardware companies and offering SEO services. It was a great challenge at the beginning, but I quickly realized I didn't adapt to the very changeable environment and after some time it stopped bringing profit. I blamed Google and there new Search Engine algorithms for these, but it’s too offtopic I think :)
Would I set up my own company in the future? I definitely would like to. Working on a regular post might be well-paid but after some time you realize, you can't raise your salary over and over. To be financially independent you need to start your own business or start to invest your savings in a thoughtful way.

Well, this video had really weird allegory, but it really has some good points comparing being both in corporation and start-up to parenting.

1. If I had to choose which place I'd rather work in, it would be most likely a start-up. I think a good atmosphere and small, familiar team, really pushes work forward and makes it enjoyable at the same time. Also I think that getting help in such place is much easier and overall everything process more smoothly. We can compare corporation to big machine, in which its employees act as small cogs. Of course those cogs are important, but I think they usually are distant to each other and can be replaced in any moment, unless it's really big and important cog ;). Start-up on other hand feels more friendly, people know each other much better, sometimes they started it all together and treat it like their real baby. Overall I think that it's much easier to give your best in such environment and we can grow up more easily.

2. Of course I'd like to start my own company. First I'll have to gain more experience and gather some funds through. Everyone feels happy if they are part of some success, but I think it's much better to be a father of it.
Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike about the opposite option
I think that as a beginner corporation might a better choice. There is more employees which gives you more people to learn from. I imagine that start-ups don't have as t much resources and time as big corporation. That is why it might be harder to teach young employees. However, If I had a lot of experience in my brach I would like to try working for a start-up. I don't like strict rules that are present in most of big companies.

Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?
I'd love to start my own company but first I would have to come up with a good idea for it. I think that starting your own business is attractive for many people. However, I don't want to start a company just for saking of owning it but to actually push into world some of my own ideas or innovations.

1. I would like to test both possibilities myself. Both options has its pros and cons.
Now i work in big corporation and im enjoying it - I have never done overtime, i don't have to wear a suit, everyone are nice and there is no such thing like 'rat race'.
2. Yes, of course. I'd like to combine my hobby and making money. I want build my own products from my own ideas. However, starting company and developing 'things' is hard while working 8h a day in my current job :(
1. I would definitely go into a smaller company or a start-up. In every option we can find as well positive and negative things. In a small company people contact more directly, there is less bureaucracy and atmosphere is more friendly. At the other hand in big corporation there are more possibilities to develop oneself or to get promoted. They offer lots of benefits such as gym cards, private health care or insurance and many others. Unfortunately, people are more competitive and they tend to fight to get higher position. I think it’s all about what kind of person you are.
2. Yes, but only when I’m sure I’ve gathered enough experience to do it. Also, I need to know that my idea is one of a kind.
Generally, each choice has its pros and cons. You can earn a lot on a startup, but it's risky. A small company offers cool working conditions in a good atmosphere, but the salary may be too low. In addition, it's possible that the company will fail. I think it's okay in a corporation. It certainly depends on the situation and conditions.
In my opinion, a corporation gives the best start, and your own startup can be a nice project when you earn yours.

I'm not sure yet, but I wouldn't want to have my own business. The cost of doing business in Poland scares me.
1. I think for first job it would be better to start in smaller company or startup. These companies should give you opportunity to learn and develop much faster. Atmosphere is really important and it will definitely be there. The advantage of woking in a big corporation is that you work until 17 and after that you are free, your job for today is done, you can go home and spend time as you like
2. I don't feel very confident for now, but one day if I get cool idea for company - who knows, I will have to take a chance then

1.Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike about the opposite option
I'm currently working in small company and i think it's a great start for students that want to see how it is to be the employee. Small comapnies don't rush as corporations and you have more time to learn staff. On the other hand you won't achive as much as you could in company, but that's why i think you need to start slowly in small comapy and then move to bigger corporation to start your carrier.

2.Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?
I think it's a good idea but you need to learn from coworkers some basics first.

I love my place of work so much, because it’s more of a small company, but with this nice start-up spirit, where everyone just trying so hard, support each other and do so well :)
I don’t think I’d like working in a corporation. Not for a long time at least, maybe to gain some needed experience, but I wouldn’t love it as much as I love my current place of work.
I don’t think I would ever set up MY OWN company. Not in the IT market at least. I’m not afraid of the responsibility, but usually when you have your own company you don’t really do things you used to do earlier, you know ? I like my position and I don’t want to change it.
Maybe someday I’ll be tired of my job and I’ll open some bakery or something. You never know.

1. In my opinion we should'nt restict ourselves when it comes to job experience. Allow yourself to try working in big company to gain some essential work experience and then you can change for smaller ones or start-ups. I was lucky enough to get an internship in reputable company as my first job and you know - the name looks good in CV. Big company is better than some no name start-up dor first choice. Now, I prefer small company. The atmosphere is way friendlier, deadline's pressure not that painful and it's easier to get a promotion. Working in the big company can be stressful, there are more rules to stick to, and often you can't do things on your on way
2. yes i would love to start my own little business someday
1. I prefer corporation. I think that you can learn a lot in high-density, especially stress resistance.
2. Of course I would like to start my own company, but I think that to run my own business you need experience in a selected field to be able to support and control employees.

From the student side, I prefer the start-up option. It seems to me that in such companies it is easier to get a job. But, at the same time, I had experience working in a huge international Corporation. I am very happy about it and the atmosphere inside the company was incredible. Everything was done for the workers. I had the opportunity to study, learn new things and gain valuable experience. The company size doesn't matter, the main thing is to enjoy your work and do it with pleasure.
I didn't think about starting my own company. But I think it will be a start-up.
1. I don't like corporations and I avoid them. The sturt-up form suits me best, there is a relaxed atmosphere.
2. I am in the process of starting a business, I hope it will work, but it's hard to predict.

1. As a student, any option will suit me as long as I can gain experience and learn something new. It is important for me to constantly improve my knowledge and skills, so even if it is a startup, the main thing is that there is such an opportunity and people who can teach me new things by sharing their experience.

2. Creating your own company requires responsibility. You are responsible for the success of the company, for the people who work for you. You have to be confident in your abilities and have a lot of patience. Setting up my firm would be a good idea, but I'm not sure I have all the right qualities.
Already I'm working in startup, which is fastly growing. Along this time I'm working there (about year) I see huge difference there is 20 people more, strategy and managing change. Some time ago I was working in big corporation, it wasn't long time but enough to experience and understand this perspective. I would say working in small startup is much more attractive to me, but if it's now growing so fast.

Yes of course, I'm positive I will find some niche where I can develop my own business. The only one issue which disturbs me is Polish tax law.
1. Corporations do some good, but they also do some bad to the modern world. I would like to get some experience in each of these places.
2. I want to think that once I will build a startup that will grow into a huge corporation .
1. Which kind of a company do you prefer as a potential employee – a corporation, or a smaller company or start-up? What do you like about your choice and dislike the opposite option?
It doesn't matter to me. Rather, I try to select the company by development opportunities and the atmosphere that prevails there than the size of the company. All solutions have advantages. Startup gives you the opportunity to work with young people, you can be promoted quickly and you work in the latest technologies.
Corporations, on the other hand, allow access to specialists and work in teams. These companies are usually known by competitors and you have no problem changing jobs.

2. Would you like to set up your own company someday? Maybe you already did so – was it successful?
I am definitely striving to start my own business. I would not like to work my whole life in a corporation or startup. However, this is a large undertaking. Requires considerable financial outlays. I don't know yet what my company will be associated with. I will try to connect with many industries and create something unique. I do not exclude a company with friends.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit.
