Week 8 [13.05 – 19.05.2019] What refugee need

Some time ago, in whole europe one topic was the most important one. Refugees. Most of western countries accepted them but propaganda was strong. Especially in Poland. Everyone thought that what they seek is money for "free", for being refugees. Here is interesting video how does this work for some of these people and also what are some of most important problems to overcome right now.

  1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?
  2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?
  3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

I wanted, and in fact, did move to another country. The reason is simple -- my motherland is at war right now. High risks of being dragged to military (although new government is working on cancelling that, but hardly ever anybody believes them now), basically my home city was bombarded, and there are not that many options left. Although, not all regions are like that, still, basic human rights are being violated and the overall quality of life needs improvements there. I, and many more migrants just want to live peaceful life. Even if it requires speaking different language and adopting other culture.

1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?
We should help those people, who really need help and don't use their escape as opportunity to take advantage of our system and get rich. Helping refugees shouldn't involve worsening the culture or system of any country and people's lives.

2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?
The part, that getting access to the right information can be the difference between life and death. I never thought about that, where and how refugees find right informations and documents to live in other country. It is great that nowadays we have new technologies which help people organize and carry them through all the paperwork.

3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?
Yes, I wanted to go to Copenhagen for studies. I wanted to make my master studies in the field connected to renewable energy and in Scandinavia this is area is very popular and well-paid.

I don't mind refugees as long as they work and behave like normal people. They should assimilate with society. Otherwise, I do not know why they are in Poland.

I am surprised by the lack of respect for people who live in Poland. I think that refugees should try to be good, not only people from Poland.

I like Poland and never thought about permanently moving to another country. But maybe someday I will move. I don't have plans yet.
I thing we should help peope to find safity place to live. If they wont to live in our country Then I don't see any objections. But they must follow our rules. If they dont’ wont to understand how our life look like, they can meet with rejection.

The speaker say „Getting access to the right resources and information, can be the difference between life and death”. It sounds very dramatic But we must realize how the topic of refugess is a serious challenge that will affect us all.

I always wont to visit United Kingdom from Erasmus or to USA. The United Kingdom is very multi cultular especially London city. There are many people from all over the world ho they experienced lots of things and i chciałbym ich poznac ich historie . The seconde place I wount to visit is USA especially silicon Valley where is lots of innovation technologies. But where I would not be, my home is in Poland

1.What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?
I am against the refugees, probably because they behave as if the country owes them something, most get refugee status in another country so that they would be paid money.

2.What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?
Refugees are not from caves, they know what the Internet is, and I know where to get the necessary documents. In addition to this, they begin to behave disgustingly, propagate their faith and culture.

3.Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?
I have been living in another country for 6 years. For the same money that I would pay in Ukraine, I pay in Poland, I will receive a European diploma that will be valid in other countries. This gives great opportunities to move to another country.
Can't really say i can understand all these things as its kinda unimaginable for me. I hope you had no huge problems while doing so. Wish you all best.
I think most people don't really think this way. Instead of getting rich they think imigrants are looking for easy money what will lead into even bigger money loss for them and for country budget. Although i can't put myself in any of these sides.
I think both sides just should respect each other and ultimately obey the law. Me myself haven't seen any incidents on either side and i hope i will never do.

1. In general, the answer is yes. But of course, this is not a simple case. Much has been said, I would just add that I would like refugees to have documents with them and the government should collect data during crossing the border just like in the process of applying for visa to the united states.
2. I am positively surprised by this particular case. It's good that they want to properly resolve their situation in accordance with legal procedures,
3. I always wanted to and still want to live for some time in the USA. I was twice, once in NYC once in LA and I always found myself there perfectly. I like this culture and lifestyle. From an economic point of view, this does not make sense any more than 30 years ago. It's all about culture. By the way, I will add that I need to meet a lot of requirements and get a visa so that I can go as a tourist to the USA. I would expect the same from people coming to Poland from out of EU or US. In my opinion, the borders of the state are something worth respecting.
I kind of agree with Hubert. I do not have any problem with refugees, in fact I try to welcome them best way I can. But, there is always 'but' ... People have to remember that when you go to other country, then you must respect their culture, their language, their religion perhaps. That's main problem with emigrants from arabic countries - they (not all of them ofc) sometimes tend to forget about respecting other culture.
I don't care about refugees here, Poland is a nice country, but nothing more. I'm immigrant and i'm living now in Poland, but i think that Poland is for polacks only. So, as our studying process is finished, i will move to another country for sure. Even i have a lot of friends in Poland, they learned me how to speak polish, but as i mentioned - Poland is for polacks. What surprised me the most about refugees - awful behaviour. Some of them can not understand that they need to be polite to others or to drop the rubbish into the rubbish bin. That's the main problem.
1. I was very sceptical, because we’ve all been fed with pictures of their vandalism in other countries. In my opinion, if there were no social aids for people who doesn’t work, then we should accept any amount of refugees, because they would do no harm. Right now it is impossible to recognise refugees over those who seek free benefits only.

2. I have never thought about this that way – it was quite shocking that the problem is the structure of information. It is strange, because it sounds like an easy to solve impediment, but on the other hand it requires additional engagement of people who could guide refugees and it costs.

3. I was thinking about moving to the UK to learn to speak English fluently. I don’t want to move to another country permanently right now, but if I had to choose another place to live it would probably be the United States. First reason is the language, and the second one is my hatred towards socialism and USA seems to be the last truly capitalist country in the world. Maybe I am naïve about that, but I am sick of hearing about ridiculous decision of our government which is going to ruin Poland for sure. I believe that Americans have totally different attitude to work and earning money than citizens of Europe.
1. I may be biased but i wouldn't like too see refugees in Poland, cuz there will just be less place for people willing and ready to work, especially if they have a huge countries with the same culture and mentality nearby like Saudi Arabia.
2. I was surprised by the sheer propaganda and litterally forcing people and nations to take people they don't need, and that can be (and in some cases are) dangerous to individuals and society. It suchs to have a war in your country but that does not give you right to behave like an animal while you are a guest.
3. I want to move to another country because of all the same reasons: money, corruption and war.
And where do you want to go? I mean what is your final goal? And when you speak about rubbish... eh. I think generaly its huge problem for many people.
And how do you find yourself here? Are you thinking to move again? If yes where? Also i'm kinda shocked about your opinions, i understand that you are talking about specific groups of refugee as i believe there are less then 50% which behave that way. Can't really provide any statistics, just working with my experience.

As non-Pole for me it's hard to judge situation in Poland. But as Ukrainian I think that all regulations should be the same for all foreigners, because to stay here legally I should study or work, and Poland should benefit from me, not only I from living here. So as rules for refugees are the same as for other foreigners, and makes them to work, pay taxes and behave properly, I don't mind.

What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

That they don't want to look for a solution by themself, and rely on someone to tell them what to do. For me it's nonsense.

Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

I already moved :) But for me it rather being an expat not a refugee.

What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?

Well to see what is happening in France I was really reduced negatively on it but I know that everyone just want to find a better life somewhere else.

What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

Well I wouldn't say it surprised me but paper work and organsation with everything is really hard to manage at first.

Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

Yes I wanted to do that to study in different country but as I managed to find a good school in Poland maybe I will move to another country after my degree. Why? Simply because I want to learn about other cultures and see the world.
Answering your questions:

1. Hmm, opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland. I think we should help refugees who really need help.

2. Bureaucracy, I think. We all know that in Poland FOR POLISH PEOPLE to do something, you really need to do a lot bureaucracy. And imagine that for refugees?

3. Yes - USA, Florida state. This is my dream country and state. Sun, warm, palms, ocean. And you can work and rest for example in Miami.
As I think mixing cultures that don't want to change is generally bad idea, I cannot imagine how does it feel when one's home is bombarded and entire country is at war so one needs to flee to save the life. I don't have idea how refugees should be handled and what to do with those people who needs asylum. If someone wants to work and adapts to his destined country it shouldn't be any problem but when you see those news titles about what refugees did in Germany or Sweden, it can be concerning. I'm thinking about migrating but only from economic reasons. And it's different story from fleeing from war.
I will be honest. I am a refugee from Ukraine. But I was not registered as a refugee in Poland. I do not want to cause any damage to the country. I came to Poland to enjoy life without problems. Unfortunately, the leadership of this state brings me problems. For example, I applied for a temporary residence card in Poland. And I did not get a failure. I got nothing. No answer. I do not know what to do next. More than two years have already passed, and I am waiting for a response from the leadership of the country. Of course, I am not stupid and I know that I can call or write a letter to urząd. I wrote letters several times and received the same answers. In these answers there was no useful information about my case. When I came to their building. The workers of this organization shrug their shoulders and say that waiting is too long and something needs to be done about it. In this case, my business lies on the shelf. I encountered the following problem in the hospital. I pay the taxes I have to pay. These taxes are normal for every Polish man. And in accordance with my right, I have the right to free medicine, the so-called "NFZ". But when I came to the doctor of the first contact. The doctor replied: “Do not lie, nothing hurts you, and if it hurts, then you should go to Ukraine for treatment.” Then I learned that people are subject to propaganda about refugees and migrants. I do not know how to deal with this. I do not wish anyone evil, I just want to live.
1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?
Honestly? This is a very difficult topic and I would prefer to keep my opinion only for myself because because of my position I try not to speak out on political issues and such as this one.
However, I think that this is a big problem not only for Poland, but for all of Europe

2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?
I do not think I was surprised by anything, because I have been following this subject for a long time, but propaganda, often false, information issues and bureaucracy are always the most common features.

3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?
As I look at other comments, I think I will be the only person with a different opinion. No, I never thought about it, I like our country, I can not imagine living somewhere abroad.

I think that refugees should be accepted in Poland but there should be an environmental interview, to avoid radical religous people that could harm our society. We can't judge whole community after couple accidents but of course we can't take it with a pinch of salt as refugees would be part of our community they should adapt to our culture not the opposite.
Yes i thought about moving to france once as I have family there but I abandoned the plans due to current state of society and I like Poland to much I have friends, family here so I can't imagine just moving to the other country ( of course earning money in Euro will be a plus ;) ).
1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?

I think it is a quite complicated topic and here is not the easy or correct answer. I am 100% sure, that we have to help other people. People, who have some problems or because of matters of things had left their places and moved to another country. So I think, we need to help those, who need this help

2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

I was surprised, that such a big amount of people need help and shelter and such a big and massive propaganda against them. For me, it was strange, that there was such a big wave of disinformation and anti-refugee propaganda.

3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

Currently, I moved to another country because I am from Ukraine. I moved because I decided to study here (which I am doing right now).

What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?

I honestly did not study the issue of refugees in Poland. But I think if a country has such an opportunity, then this is great. But it is worth considering, of course, that every country should do this without harm to its own population and the country's economy. Most European countries can afford it, which is probably why this issue is very relevant here.

What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

The fact that of course this is not a very easy process. Indeed, for many refugees, there is the question of life and death, as the speaker said in your video. It is very good that the world community pays attention to such problems. I am surprised that there is such a program (Atar) to help in this situation. For the first time I hear about it.

Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

Honestly, no. It is possible only for getting education well or getting life experience in another country. But I have not yet made such global decisions for the move.
I think there is nothing wrong in moving to another country. Noone ever stated that we belong to the places that we are born in. We can always move on, move to other places, and nothing should restrict us to. Of course, language and culture are critical, that is why I believe that all refugees need to adapt to the culture of the country they move to and they need to learn the language to be able to become locals. What I have seen in the video is that not all refugees really seek for social care. Many of them really move to start over in other location. And this would be nice if Poland developed certain rules and guidelines for these people to help them intergate into Polish community.

1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?

I don’t mind having refugees in our country as long as it doesn’t harm our economy. On the other hand I don’t think that there are many people that would agree with me on this as we all know Poland is a xenophobic and racist country and I am not sure that those refugees would have a peaceful life in here.

2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

I guess that the whole process itself. I also didn’t know about the Atar program that helps these people, that is quite interesting.

3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

Yes, I have. I guess it has to do with life standard to some extent but I also would like to try something new, look at things from different perspective and also the awareness that you are totally alone at the beginning sets you in a new position and you know that everything is dependent on you and only you.

1. What was your opinion about plans to accept refugees in Poland?
I don’t like these plans to accept refugees in Poland because there are too many of them at once even our neighbouring countries are no longer coping with them.
2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?
Maybe that you need a lawyer as fast as possible.
3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?
No, I haven’t. I have no reasons to leave my country and I hope that there will never be a reason to do this.
I think we, as a people, should help each other in any circumtances. If someone has no place to live, we should provide it. Poland should accept refugees from diffrent countries. I am not surprised of today’s refugees problem. I think everybody should have access provided by goverment to fullfil basic needs, all possible information included. I have never wanted to move to another country, just beacuse im bonded to my city/country in many ways. Here is my family, my house, my friends and everyhing i have worked for. I could only imagine how destructive it may be, to be forced to leave your home.

(Due to technical difficulties of PJATK mail, i am forced to post comment using diffrent account)

In my opinion refugees in PL will made more crimes and we are going to feel less comfortable, and i don't think that refugees would give us any profit...

2. What surprised you most out of refugees today's problems?

I am supprised of their problems with work, what making them that lazy, i always thought that "if i get some help from someone, i need to refund him all help".

3. Have you ever wanted to move to another country, why?

In previous year i wanted to move to US but too many of papier work to do it and many problems which cannot be solved inmidiately ;/

Nowadays, when almost all borders are open where the problem of refugees goes as relevant as ever. Although there is a difference between refugees and emigrants. After all, for an emigrant relocation is a conscious and independent decision, so for a refugee, this is most likely a compulsory action. Of course, Poland should and accepts refugees like any other EU country. Since such people do not run away from a good life, and they really need help.
I myself am an immigrant, but in no case a refugee, and I plan to continue to consider other countries to improve the level and comfort of my life.
I do not have a problem with it if they are normal people who are able to adapt to the society.
But looking at what problem other countries have, I'm negative. I understand that you have to help people, but not at the expense
your own safety and your family. The most surprising thing about refugees is that they can not live in a community
and destroy everything they encounter (this is how published movies and articles show). Would I want to go to another country?
I think, yes, the reason for more money (probably one of the main reasons for going abroad). In general, the subject of admitting refugees is
very controversial, I will not say more on this subject

1. I was really skeptical about this idea because of what we were hearing from other countries that accepted those people. I'm totally for helping people in needs but their should somehow being checked first if they are not just some dodger who only try to live for free. They should work and behave like every other citizen, assimilate and respect our culture, law and other aspects of lives.
2. Honestly I’ve never wondered about how those people gain information so when I watched the video it surprised me that this is not that obvious and easy and some people might have problem with it.
3. Sometime I think about moving somewhere just for couple of month to personally experience how it is to live in other country. I consider for example Canada or some countries with a warmer climate than ours.
1. I don’t mind refugees as long as they’re integrated and by that I mean a refugee or immigrant who is, generally speaking fluent with the language, is familiar with the culture, and can interact with natives as well as natives can interact with other natives. Or at least to a degree acceptable by the natives.
2. It didn’t surprise me, but all the paperwork sounds like hell to someone who just entered a foreign country.
3. I’m actually moving to London for my masters degree in September but honestly I’m not too worried about the language barrier or the cultural adaptation.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
