Week 8 [13.05 – 19.05.2019] Game of thrones

This is one of if not the most popular TV series in history. For sure 100% of you heard about it and 80% is watching it regularly.

In short summary for those who aren’t familiar with it (if you exist dear reader). Game of thrones is a TV series based on fantasy saga called “Song of ice and fire”. It’s main plot is divided between many characters around continent of Westeros. After long war between mostly 3 houses, Baratheon, their allies Stark and former dragon riders Targaryens. All signs are leading us to a new war for the only Iron Throne that rules over 7 kingdoms placed over continent. However new threat is coming from far north where ancient evil White Walker has awaken.

Okey, enough.

Why am i actually choosing this topic. Right now last, 8th season is airing. It was supposed to be greatest 8h of series in all times. So far it was great and many people couldn’t wait till this moment happens. Producers chose to make only 6 episode that lasts over 70 mins each to show us what HBO is capable of. Also they postponed premiere for half a year to make it even better… Result is crushing… in a wrong way.

From the best series that was twisting our brains with plot twists and intrigue on every step. It became repetitive, boring, cheap and sometimes ridiculously stupid. Only one episode left and internet is furious. Every channel on YouTube, every web page is criticizing it and pointing every mistake. And who is really surprised after all the hype producers have created. After all this effort we have got plot holes, bad scenario, dumb mistakes on every step. Even starbucks got free ad due to coffee cup that was left on a table during shooting.

There are also many other problems with it but i don’t want to spoil anything as there might be person left that haven’t seen it yet but is willing to do so, so i won’t give you any details but i’m really interested in yours opinion.

  1. Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.
  2. How do you think this show will end?
  3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
  4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?

I haven't watched this series, in fact I never watched any at all. But the downfall from something great and astonishing to self repeating and cliches is a commodity for many books or TV series. I often hear, when somebody is describing some movie trilogy, or books: "Well, first episode/season/book is awesome, stunning and breathtaking. Well, others you may even want to skip at all." It is extremely hard to keep up the pace with your own achievements as audience's expectations of you grow tremendously. Sometimes the other way around can be seen -- when show gets better and better. But the most common scenario is downfall.

Yes, I'm watching GoT. The story is great and whole fictional world are unbelievable addictive. The last episode is coming...

2. How do you think this show will end?
Arya will merry Tyrion and their child will sit on the iron throne. Denerys will come back to Meereen to rule people who love her. John Snow will die, but I can not imagine how. Maybe Denerys will kill him?

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
I love fantasy, and I loved screening until 8th season. I have to say that scenes are still breathtaking and special effects are making great impression, but the problem is in scenario, where almost nothing makes sense right now.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
I haven't read the books yet. I will wait till I forget what was the story about and maybe then give it a try.
I do not watch this series. In the previous year, we began to watch Game of Thrones along with my girlfriend, but some man killed a "cute" wolf and my girlfriend stopped wanting to watch this series. Funny but true.

I have no idea how it will end. Surely for now the show is bringing a lot of money, so nobody wants to end it.

I like fantasy movies. Thanks to them I can move to another world. This is more interesting than films based on our reality for me.

I did not read this book. But thanks to this question, I know where the text "Iron from ice" came from.

Now I don't look Game of thrones, stopped for 3-5 series 6 season. In general all seasons I listened. So that I don't know as a half of actors looks.

2.How do you think this show will end?
Officially announced that season 8 is the last.

3.What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
It is interesting to watch fantasy after reading a book to compare them.

4.If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
No, didn't read. I'm not very interested in the events of the game of thrones, just see who occupies the throne. There is no time for books, it is easier for me to listen to the series than to read a book.
Yes I’m watching GOT and what I want to say the current season is not a level what we saw in the last episods. This episod is very predictable and is far from the previous part of GOT. I think it’s merit of screenwriters and their own idea for the show. Maybe it will be otherwise when novel writer would write a book before the show.

I thing the Show ends death Daenerys Targaryen with hands John Snow. This scenario is very possible because like legend say that dragon queen can only kill the blade of his beloved.

From as a child I love fantasy books. My first novel was Narnia the story of silver chair. After reading this there was nothing else to do like read all the most popular fantasies. Such as: Lord of the Ring or Eragon.

I didn't’ read any of series GOT book to lack of time caused by work. I regret because my sister read this books and she told me that this series is incredible. Maybe I will read one day.

Yeah, i agree with most of the statements. Fortunately there are some that learn from their mistakes, like "Lucifer" with every season it gets slightly better. With GOT its kinda strange as 6 seasons held really well and then last 2 just dropped quality so hard.
Your theory is kinda ridiculous but imagine it will happen lol. I do recommend reading books as story is really different there after i think equivalent to 4th season. Some characters are still alive and some others are long dead.
I started when i was much younger. I didn't like it at first but i gave it a second try and now i'm addicted i think. Maybe you should too. Just don't tell your girlfriend.
I think i don't agree about being predictable. Most of plot twist are coming from nowhere without any arc to support it, no motivation or any logical explanation. Won't speak about any specific so i won't spoil anything for others. I had exactly same breaking point but for me it was Hobbit. I have never stopped after that.

1. I don't watch a new season. I've seen previous seasons, but for now I don't have time to watch the latest one.
I will probably watch all episodes will come out.
2. I honestly have no idea. Unfortunately, we waited so much for the new season that it is worth remembering the previous ones.
3. I'm not a fan of fantasy but I like the Game of thrones.
4. Unfortunately, I haven't read books in this series.
Yeah I'm watching GoT, also I;ve read all of the books. And maybe it is popular opinion to say "book is better", but GoT was made really good. There were moments that in my opinnion was better in tv show than in book. Main problem with tv series was that when it become being crated by tv producers and not by G R R Martin story it started to becoming a shit. Now, this newest season is so bad, that only thing that can make me excicted about GoT again are new books.
I think that what hurts the most is a fact that fans theories were way better than real show :(
1.Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.
Yes, i'm watching GOT now, i can't say that everything is so bad, but definitely not the way how they can finish those episodes, not so fast at least.
2. How do you think this show will end?
John Snow will be on iron throne and Daineris will die in the last episode.
3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
I'm not the fan of fantasy genre, but GOT changed my mind 2 years ago. Really nice story with a lot of different characters and interesting plot.
4.If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
I didnt read that book.
1. No, I am not watching GOT, because fantasy in overall is not something I really like. In addition to that, actors of GOT became so popular that I don’t want to watch it even more. I’ll give it a try some day, but I don’t plan to do so in the nearest future.

2. No idea.

3. As I said before, I am not keen on fantasy at all with an exception of Star Wars which I really like (the real Star Wars which consist of six episodes and Expanded Universe). Dragons, magic and dark ages don’t attract me, but it is very possible that I simply don’t know enough of it.
I do watch GoT, and my opinion is that last season is incredibly underwelming, it's like they felt that money stops flowing and decided to do halfjob to end it and get final little cash. Only 1 episode is left, and i think it more or less is understandable how the show is supposed to end. I love fantasy genre, even if netflix makes sure to promote shitty ones, i still am a big fan. I did not read a books but my friends who do say that the further show goes from it's original the worse it becomes.
Let's just hope Martin will write them soon. Its ridiculus that HBO made deal with him not to write books until show is finished. Hmmm, when you think about that deal maybe the only thing that Martin wanted was for show to be bad so books will sell better?
I think the biggest pro in GOT specialy in first seasons were all these plot twists and conspiracies, all made with huge mind behind them. I think that made it so popular back then.
Exactly, and that is really strange they (D&D) refused to make 10 episodes with even higher budget that HBO offered them. Also i do agree with your friends. When you read books some stuff in show hurts even more.

I'm watching it right now. And think that series are complete disaster. But I watched whole series inly 2 years ago, soI had a chance to compare seasons over the time. And I think starting from season 5, show runners always preferred twists and epic moments to plot. So season 8 just became a culmination of few seasons plat wholes and screenplay writers laziness.

How do you think this show will end?

I don't know, but I bet on trivial and boring ending where John Snow will take a dragon, make him kill Daenerys and will become a king.

What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?

I think that Game of Thrones raised level of how fantasy should be filmed mixing reality with magic, politics and dragons, and so on and so forth. But for know I think everyone is tired from such genre, at least so dark style. Everyone is more headed up on new Harry Potter universe films.

If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?

I didn't read books, so I cannot judge. But my friend always love to say that book is better, even if it had a lot of plot holes.

Im watching current season of game of throes and I must say it surprised me. I didn't think they will kill the night king that fast and the whole season will go so quickly. I don't think I like it to be honest.

I'm not thinking about the end. I'm just enjoing what is presented to me in that perticular moment.

When it comes to fantasy and its sceneering I really like watching this. New effects in movies are that good that you dont see that something is rendered that easly.

I didn't read a book but Its in my to do list
Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.
How do you think this show will end?
I'm watching GOT right now, I've been watching it from the beggining. It's incredibly dark, amazing and I love it, but the last season is somewhat dissapointing. The firt episode was nostalgic, but next ones were worse and worse and worse. I think that Danny will become the Mad Queen, but secretly I want that Jon Snow will kill her.
What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
I'm a big fan of the LOTR and I think it's a good example of the succesfull fantasy screening. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fantasy movies which have been poorly made.
If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
I tried to read the book, but I stopped before even reaching half of it. I don't know why, but it was dull for me.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS!
Sorry, I won't read your presentation, but I will try answer your questions.

1. I am big fan of GoT. Today is the premiere of the final episode, so I will watch all episodes of 8 season in next week.

2. Probably the North will make a truce with The Others.

3. I will say it in one word - masterpiece. This is the best Tv-Show I ever watched.

4. I haven't read books, so I can't answer that question.
This comment has been removed by the author.
I'm watching GOT and for me current season is just terrible. Dumb writing, illogical moves, idiotic deaths etc., etc. If it were first season I wouldn't watch next ones. My bet on the ending is Jon will kill Dragon Queen and it will be just as terrible as the rest of the season. I love fantasy books and movies and I'm big fan of many of them. It is just sad to see great show have bad ending. I haven't read the Martin's books but maybe ill try when (or if) he finishes them.
1. Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.

Unfortunately, I watch this season. I do not like it. With waiting for another development of events. But, so far everything is talking about the failure of my expectations, alas. Well, I also damn sorry dragons.

2. How do you think this show will end?

Definitely, yes. They already promise a new show in this universe. But it’s not even possible to call it a spin-off. Since the characters are not duplicated at all and events that happened a thousand years ago will be shown.

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?

I really like fantasy. Thanks to G. Martin for these books. He created a wonderful world.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?

I read the first three books. I liked them more than the show, but they are completely different. And the events are different. Therefore, it is difficult to answer unequivocally.
I just started watching this beautiful film. This film is very deep in thought. The idea that people kill is one another and does not see a global, big problem for all mankind. I have not watched the last season of this series, because I just started watching this series. As far as I know, this series does not fit like the book. Me will need to read the book separately.
1. Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.
No, unfortunately I do not watch GoT, because I think this series is extremely boring. What can I say, I watched the half of the first season and how few of the series caused that I just wanted to sleep after starting the episode.

2. How do you think this show will end?
Unseen because I do not watch this season and have not watched earlier seasons, I can not help how the show will end.

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
I really like the fiction in book versions. When it comes to screening versions, I am always afraid of skipping many delicate stories that give history an extra dimension.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
No, I have not read this series, but maybe at some point I will start to read it, to see what it is.
Yes, every monday me and my friends group up togheter to watch the show. To be honest I am really disappointed with current level of story. It is not a Game of Thrones as it used to be, there are a lot of simplification, which I don't like they decided to solve major plot in convienent , simply way.
I think that Jon would be a king of the seven kingdoms and Daenerys will be killed by her own dragon ( That would be awesome !).
I have read books and I have to say that first 4 seasons was better as books were really detailed sometimes to much for me, politics etc.
1. Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.
Yes, I'm watching GOT every Monday. This season is quiet different from previous ones, but interesting. The main characters have changed a lot though seasons and now most of them become much more stronger and depressed. I like GOT for its unique characters that aren't ideal, they made a lot of mistakes, and their decisions were made because of their points of view, values etc.

2. How do you think this show will end?
In my opinion, Jon Snow will be on the Iron Throne, Daenerys will be killed by Aria.

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
I like fantasy so much! GOT had raised the fantasy to a new level with its visual effects, costumes and scenario. Now fantasy is not only a war war of good with evil.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
Unfortunately, I didn't read books.
1. Are you watching GOT right now? If yes, what is your opinion about the current season. If no, why not? Maybe you should give it a try, even if this season is a disaster.

Yes, I am watching GOT. I think the last season is not so bad, as it is shown on the internet. Yes, there are some mistakes or plot holes, but in general, I like it. I hope the last episode will be great...

2. How do you think this show will end?

I am not sure, I have some interesting ideas, but I don't want to write them, because it can spoil the last season of GOT to someone.

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?

In general, I am a huge fan of fantasy in all its appearances. So, I like books and TV series and films and games. I hope, that with time there will be a lot of great TV series and films in this genre.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?

I liked them very much because there was a very detailed description of politics, relationships between characters and the overall writing I think is great.

I don't watch it yet. But I saw a couple of episodes from the first season, and the quality of this series is really impressive. I have plans to continue watching. I really do not know when it will be. But I think the show that creates so much noise around is worthy of attention.

How do you think this show will end?
Of course. Any story, even a good one, has an end. But the author of this story is alive, maybe he will come up with something else. Who knows.

What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?
Well, as I said earlier, I watched only a few episodes from the first season. And did not reach the plot lines where there is a fantasy. But I see the reaction of people in my environment. It seems really impressive. I can give an answer about this a little later, after watching.

If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?
Sorry, I can not yet say. Since I can not compare. I think at the beginning I will get acquainted with the on-screen version. Maybe if it is impressed then I will continue in the book version.
Honestly I wasn't watching a single episode. I think this is a boring show and I would rather devote my time to reading books on history than to the Game of Thrones. I did not like the trend, and I am not following it. As to the way the show was postponed, I did read a lot of news about it and of course I have already seen those articles on social media about the famous - already - Starbucks cups. I am convinced that these are just additional proof as to why I did not watch the show. There is nothing to take from it. No really great idea, no historic background... I would rather read a book.
Of course I'm watching the Game of Thrones and I think this season is the worst. It is clear that the series is no longer based on a book. The lack of extensive dialogues and intrigues makes this series hopeless. Directors without cooperation with George R.R. Martin made this series a failure, only blood and fire. To be honest, I don't care how it ends anymore. I have read all the books and hope that the author will come up with a different ending. I like fantasy movies very much, I love magical creatures and legendary heroes.

I haven’t watched the last season as I am watching 4th right now. I heard that this season is a big pile of turd but I will probably give it a try once I get through all of the previous ones.

2. How do you think this show will end?
Absolutely no idea.

3. What is your general opinion about fantasy and its screening?

I am not a huge fan of fantasy but I have to tell that I really enjoy watching this tv series.

4. If you read books (song of ice and fire), what was better?

I haven’t read the series but from what I heard, those seasons are really good screening of the story, at least some of them.

Yes, I’m currently watching GOT and I’m pretty disappointed. I just felt that it ended too soon, it was like mostly a "recap" episode. I really enjoyed watching GOT so far, so it make me sad that those recent episodes was so rushed.

In my opinion Jon will kill Daenerys and reluctantly ends up ruling. Or everyone dies.

I didn’t read any fantasy book with screen adaptation besides Hobbit. Hobbit was good movie and I enjoyed it.

I didn't read that book
1. I watched around 5 first episode then stopped I was planning to watch more later but there wasn’t any good time/occasion and maybe because I don’t like betrayal, politics and killing every character that you start to like maybe I’ll read the book one day.
2. Well this blond girl with dragons Daenerys Targaryen or something will kill all her enemies then she will sit on this iron throne and slice her finger on one of these sword embedded there and die because of tetanus or maybe this will be haemorrhoids well she will die and then dragoon will eat her and acquire intelligence after that he will enslave humans and start to rule them. THE END
3. I like them and they should make more of them
Unfortunately I watched only first season of Game of Thrones, also this is a first time I heard pejorative opinion but i found productions that after first parts become rather crap even if at the beginning they were absolutely stunning. I can't really answer your question becouse that are all related to the sorry that I don't know but I believe this series become an amazing experience for a lot of people and it's my guess but I think that some of the people will find last season enjoyable becouse of sympathy for the characters and environment that was presented to them. I would love to see John Snow and Daenerys becoming rulers but from what I heard it's possible anymore.
1. Yes, I am watching game of throne. I think the current season is very surprising and not predictable. I read many reviews and most
it is negative which I do not understand. It seems to me that people really dislike this season because they did not predict how they would go
threads.
2. It's hard to say, after all, this is Game of Throne :) there is nothing predictable.
3. I think that good screening will not hurt. An example may be the Lord of the ring where history really has been very good filmed.
4. Unfortunately I have not read books :( I have plans to read only I need to find some time and desire
Yes, i am watching GOT right now. In my opinion, current season is not that great. It was hyped, postponed as you mentioned, and the result is not satisfying. It doesn’t mean that it is bad. I feel like it could be better but it is good for me. I think the show will end darkly like whole idea behind GOT. As everyone will be dead or something like this. I have started to read books, but i couldn’t get throught it. I mean it was okay, but i have watched tv series first and it was kind of boring reading the same thing. As speaking of fantasy, i think its wonderful idea. Fantasy gives many oportunities to depicture amazing things on screen.

I didn’t see the last season as I decided to reconsider a couple of penultimate ones, because if it’s not the last season, I have nowhere to hurry. But it is difficult to bypass spoilers on the Internet and in life as well as the truth - almost every second watch it. But for now, like a matrix, I'm swerve the key spoilers, but the fact that last season is a huge disappointment is hard to miss. I even heard that there is a petition to re-enact the season and it was signed by 1 million people. It is clear that no one will be reconsidered, but this impressive figure shows how bad everything is.

1. I don't watch Got, I’m simply not so interested in that kind of fantasy content when it comes to movies or books (but not games). I’ve always preferred science fiction and futuristic vision of the world. But recently I tried to convince myself and I started reading our The Witcher and I really liked it. So maybe some day I will thy GoT, who knows.
2. As I know nothing about it I have no idea.
3. As I said in the first answer, except for games, I strongly prefer science fiction and future-like content.
4. I haven’t read the saga but my girlfriend had and her opinion is that the books are better than series. She told me that it’s mainly because of focusing on the valuable content and not on some eye-catching, unnecessary publicity stunts.
1. I tried watching it, got to season 3 because my friends kept telling me it "gets good." It doesn't. Season 1 is okay and it just got worse from there. By season 3 it was nearly unwatchable, especially those unbearable scenes with the dragon lady and the Snow guy in the winter landscape.
2. Like I said, I only got to season 3 so I have no idea who is still alive, but I really do hope the dragon girl won’t take the iron throne because personally speaking, that would be a major disappointment.
3. Most fantasy books are too long and most long fantasy series are too long and should be trilogies at the longest or stand alone novels. I prefer stand alone novels in general.
4. No, I haven’t read the books

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
