Week 12 [18.06-24.06.2018] E-Sport - the future of entertainment?

Have you ever heard about E-Sport? I’m sure you have if you are interested in video games.
People found a way to compete in various computer games, and as you can see - it became very
popular. E-Sport is a kind of a rivalry - just like a normal sport, but most of the time you don’t use the
strength of your muscles, but of your mind. You need to stay focused all the time, think about every move you are going to make and try to “read” the mind of your opponent.
There are many games, in which you can compete - FPS, MOBA, MMORPG, Sport games like FIFA, NBA and many others. Right now you can find pro players in almost every multiplayer game.

E-Sport in Poland is also big. We have a lot of good teams and players that compete in a various
international tournaments. For example, in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is a FPS game, we
have a team called Virtus.Pro. The team won a major tournament in 2014, which is the most valuable
trophy in their career. Beside Virtus.Pro, we have another team called AGO Esports, which may not
have a lot achievements, but they’re working hard to achieve something similar.

What made E-Sports so popular? I think that people actually do like to watch other people play games.
For example, the streaming platform Twitch went so big in a short period of time. It’s a good way to obtain
knowledge of the game by watching a good player playing it. Znalezione obrazy dla zapytania esl one katowice
According to PC Gamer, E-Sport market was worth about ~1.5 billion dollars in 2017. And it grows every
day!

How can you become a pro player? It’s not that easy as it was some time ago. Right now you have to
almost treat it as a full time job. The life of a pro player consists of a lot of personal training, team practic
(in team based games) or even watching how your opponent is playing. Without a proper salary it is hard
to do it and to put it together with a real life.

Nowadays, there are a lot of organisations that are willing to pay people for playing under their brand.
They receive a normal monthly salary, which can be even up to 25k dollars. There are even transfers from
a team to a team like in football or other sports.

1. What do you think about E-Sport?
2. Do you think that it is going to become more popular than normal sport?
3. Have you ever tried to compete in computer games?

E-sport is something a little bit weird for me and I don't like calling it 'sport' at all. I think that someone should find a new name for it. But about gaming I can't say too much, I used to play a little but now I don't so I'm not interested in it. It's impossible that it will become more popular than normal sport, I hope.
just because you are not a part of it and you are calling it "not a sport".
I'm a fan of e-sport and i strongly believe that it would improve every year and more and more people would love it. I don't think that it wold be more popular than a football, but more popular than tennis it can be. Yes, i have an experience in competing in a game called Counter-strike and i would say that we were about to climb high. But this sport needs so much time, so you need to choice if you want to continue and become a professional in e-sport.

1. I think that this is an actual sport in our time.
2. Perhaps a new generation this sport will be more interesting and closer, which is normal. But in this case, it's bad, because sitting at the computer about a beautiful body and a healthy lifestyle can be forgotten.
3. No, games are not my hobby.

I find e-sport interesting and often I watch matches online when I have time. The main game I am interested is CS:GO. I have always liked to play this game since earlier versions and I consider it to be the best competitive multiplayer game, at least in its genre. E-sport will definitely grow when computer technologies and games will become more popular in society. But I don't think it will become bigger than traditional sport in the near future. I play in competitive games, but nothing close to even semi-pro level.

I don't really understand the idea of e-sport, I don't know how watching some other people playing games could be interesting for anyone. I don't really play games, maybe except from FIFA, but I guess that playing them is actually more fun than to watch how others play. I found it funny how e-sport tries to pretend that it actually has something in common with normal sport when I see that for example these CS:GO players even have coach like in football or volleyball. I hope that it won't get more popular than normal sports, because it's a parody of a normal sport.
I love e-sports, even much more than common sports, because it is the competition of mind opposed to "real" sport's competition of body. In e-sport there is no such things as dopings(using cheats can be tracked easily) it is not too developed to have negotiated match results and what happens on the monitor is much more interesting and complicated than your average 22 men kicking a ball. I thnik that e-sport is already more popular than sport among the younger generation. I tried to compete but found it unsatisfying, i play games to feel fun and not to feel some obligations and stress because i lost something that i should've won.

1. What do you think about E-Sport?
I don't know much about it, because I'm not playing at all for a while.

2. Do you think that it is going to become more popular than normal sport?
I think no, because regular sports are more accessible to people then e-sport, and ability to participate in games is also important for fans.

3. Have you ever tried to compete in computer games?
No, I don't.

1. What do you think about E-Sport?
How it can be called sport? Is it connected somehow with sport or any activity? No.
I don't mind it but I'm not a fan and I have never seen any "e-sport competition".
2. Do you think that it is going to become more popular than normal sport?
I hope it won't.
3. Have you ever tried to compete in computer games?
No because of lack of time.

Wow, I've never heard about it before, so maybe because I don't like video games. So, it's sounds interesting but I don't think that it's gonna be more popular. There are many people who like to do normal sport and use their muscles.

I like eSport. I found it fascinating and definitely more interesting than any other sport discipline. I don't understand why so many people consider eSport or computer games waste of time and that it doesn't let you develop yourself. I noticed that when I started playing computer games my way of thinking had become a little bit different. The way I look at everyday situations or the way I treat people a little bit changed. On the other hand I've become more nervous because I expected a lot more from my teammates and became very angry when they didn't met my expectations(almost every single game)

Yes, I would say so. Nowadays most kid play more computer games than football or any other "normal" game. That's why they will be most probably more interested in watching computer games finals than football.

Yes, I tried once. There was a DOTA tournament in my city and everyone who had a team could join. I with my friends gathered a team and did manage to win some battles. But afterall we lost and our super professional team was disbaned :(
I mean E-Sports are the only way to bring real competition to gaming whether we like it or not. I think its growth in past couple years is a great thing and i expect it to grow even bigger in upcoming 2 years.
When it comes to popularity of it, we have to remember that there is still a huge percentage of people who did not grow up with a computer, who are non familiar with tech nor games, when they die out and the current "generation of grandparents" shows up i think it has a potential (in few cases) to become equally popular as normal sports are(maybe besides football).
Myself i have never felt a drive nor time to try and compete seriously in any game.

I like to watch E-Sport games and I know that is very stressful job. I don't consider it as "normal" sport like football but it's competition too. Nowadays, it's a business - advertisements, sponsors etc.
I think that E-Sport will be very popular but not us much as normal sport. I know that a lot of people are playing computer games but I'm certain that normal sport position will be strong.
Hmm, maybe few years ago I was playing on some tournaments but it's not for me. It's very time-consuming and stressful. I like to play computer games but only for fun.
Starting from last question, nope. I have never tried to compete in any kind of e-sport as i dont like playing any of most popular game that are there right now. The only one that im actually watching is CS-go even tho im not playing it at all. I tried for 3-5h and didnt enjoy it but somehow i like to watch majors. When it comes to second question hmmm, i don't really think so. It is already super popular but popularity of football isn't going down either. I think it will be just like any other sport. When it comes to to a single sports hmmm i think esport can be in top 3 with football and basketball really soon if it isnt there yet.

E sports is becoming more and more popular. Personally, I don't play games. It is very possible that in the future it will be just as popular as normal sport, but is it more? I used to play in the clans at Wolevenstain Enemy Teretory. Playing games together with people is much better than playing alone. You create a group that becomes your friends even though you have never met them. But I prefer normal life and real friends.

1) Well, it's not worse or better than any other sport. Just I dont like watching somebody having fun or playing something while I cant)
2)Not really) Nothing can overthrow football from the top 1 show and event in the whole world
3)Not really, only competitive matches or something like that

Thanks for your opinion, Lukasz. I think that other name for it is "e-sport", so it matches the definition.

Thanks for your opinion, Andrii. I also think, that right now you can't live a normal life and be a pro gamer. The industry needs a lot of time from people to go on and to climb even higher.

Thanks for your opinion, Pavlo. I think that there are many examples, when you can find a pro gamer who is in a good shape - for example pashaBiceps.

Thanks for your opinon, Maciej. I agree with you, and I also think that it will grow, but in the distatns future who knows if it can surpass traditional sports.

Thanks for your opinion, Marcin. I think that watching some guys playing football is the same as watching someone, who plays computer games. Also, there are a lot of tactical approaches to the game and I think you should consider deepening your knowledge about esports. It's not only about moving the computer mouse
Thank you for the interesting article. I'm very interested in e-sport and computer games. In my opinion, e-sport can be equated to the sport. After all, chess is the sport, too. The main thing is that there are some achievements in e-sport, an element of competition and excitement. To achieve high results, you need to try hard and train hard. There are games in e-sport where your result depends on your physical abilities. In our time, computer games have firmly entered our lives, so it is normal that they make changes in the existing order of things.

Thanks for your opinion, Denys. I also think that younger generation is much more interested in esports than traditional sports. We will see what future will bring

1. What do you think about E-Sport?
Nowadays E-sport is almost as popular as normal sport, people make huge amount of money on it so... As long as people enjoy it, e-sport will be a good attraction.

2. Do you think that it is going to become more popular than normal sport?
No, I dont think so, people like watching athleets not only because of the competiotion itself. They like when athlets cross their limits, in e-sport there is almost no limits, no barriers.

Nowadays E-sport is really popular. Even in Poland we can look for big events such as Intel Extreme Masters. I have been to Katowice to watch finals of my favourite team in CS:GO. I was waiting in queue for about 5 hours, so as you see this event is really common in the circle of Polish gamers. I think E-sport is as exciting as football and for some people can be even more. In future where more people will play video games E-sport will be really popular and in my opinion, there will be a possibility to watch tournaments in most known games in TV. I would like to watch such competitions because I used to play games like Battlefield 3, League of legend or CS:GO. I could spend about 5 hours per day sometimes even much more playing with other players or my friends and for sure I did not waste my time. Maybe if I were good enough I would also earn money for playing video games and I would be awesome

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form.
