Have you ever wondered why certain colors or combinations of colors cause or evoke an emotional response, or simply create a nice picture?

Color can affect us psychologically and physically, and often we do not notice it. It can be a powerful tool within history. Cognition in color theory makes it possible to control color to enhance the effect and visual enhancement of the image.

In filming the using of color to create harmony or tension within the scene, or to draw attention to a key visual idea sometimes leads to amazing results.

Studying the work of the best filmmakers we admire so much, we must admit that there is nothing accidental. A saturated red color is used to enhance emotions, to raise blood pressure, while blue color has a calming effect. Some colors are clearly associated with some place or location, others - with time or an epoch.

Let's watch this nice video of CineFix to see the great examples of color use in films.

Do you agree that color is important? Does it influence you in an everyday life? Could you remember some examples of interesting and impressive color use? Or maybe you can tell us about your color preferences and how it changed during your life?

Feel free to share your opinion, thanks:)

I never thought about it but I think that color is important in our life. Everyone has some of their favorite colors. Well-chosen colors improve your wellbeing for example at home. Personally I like warm colors at home.

In my opinion colors are important. They can influence your mood, your behaviour or even heal you - that's why we have color therapy (I have Bioptron device at home and for me it worked when I had problems with sinus).
About my color preferences - when I was 5-12 I loved green, 13-17 black/red, now I am not closed to one color, I like grey, red, black, green, blue etc...

In my opinion color is very important, especially in movies. I really like movies like Drive or Interstellar, where colors, light and perspective plays very important role.
As a developer, colors influence me mostly on websites. I think it is good to create website with good colors that match themselves. Unfortunately, many developers forget about this.

I agree that colour is very important. Feng shui is a real thing.
I would also agree that the font is important as well. Especially small, unreadable, a little greyed out font that hurts your eyes which some people use to write an article. I'm a little blind and my resolution is too high too far away, yes.

I think that it is important - my byfriend is a graphic designer and he comments such aspects very often and when we were watching polish TV series "Belle epoque" he was complaing a lot about colors - that they don't fit in, that they are too bright, too "clean".
I loved all "Grand Budapet Hotel" movie and color definitely was an important aspect.
I watched "Witness of the prosecution" movie, it is black and white one, and I can't imagine how it would look like in color. I'm not sure if it should be colored - maybe color there are just right?

I agree with author of this article that colors are important, for example I hate lurid colors. I suppose that many of us have similar feelings about it. I've heard someday that 90% of information people perceive visually. As Maciej pointed out, colors are playing main role in building websites, apps. So for me, as a programmer, it's very important to cooperate with a good graphic designer to build product attractive visually.
Colors are important for the mood we are in. I was staying in hotels a lot while working and I've noticed that sometimes dark rooms can get you very depressed in the morning. My favorite is white and maybe there is something in it because my favorite football team is Real Madrid :)

I know that young people don't like brown color, it's somehow connected with being immature. When we become older, we could enjoy this color more

Feng shui is only one of the interpretations of color meaning. There are lots of interesting opinions about it

I understand your boyfriend, once you have learned about color theory, you couldn't forget it and you keep on analyzing it in every movie:)

I am not a Real team fan, but I love white color too, especially in loft interiors and white t-shirts are my favs)

I have read that it also depends of the type of the person. Someone perceive information visually, others aurally, someone tactile. And there are combinations. For me, visual and tactile is important. But when I hear the information without the visual example, I just can't get it at all:) maybe that's why for me color does matter

Oh yeah, great examples of colors in film, thank you

Maybe you don't see colors because they are comfortable for you? I don't see it until I meet some irritating neon colors, that are trying to damage your eyes)) few years ago it was trendy, but awful:)

I think we can't disagree that color is important not only in cinema but also in our every day life. Even things as simple as color of walls in our apartment can change everything dramatically. As for cinema, I remember there being a really bad trend of coloring everything blue for some time, same thing goes for video games, a lot of them look really brown and muddy just because other games do to. As for good examples of well used color in something I recently watched - Slow West had a pretty great balance of well thought out color.

I work as a designer so color have a really big matter to me. It's not only about my work, but in everyday also. I'm always trying to chose the best color combination when it comes to clothes, interior design and even app themes or wallpapers.
Recently I've noticed that designers use some highlight colors combined with grey tones. Pink, yellow or blue looks awesome in this kind of combinations.
I'm also familiar with emotion-color pairs. And so blue means some innovative business, pink and orange something fresh and so on.
I never think about colors in that way, but after reading your article I must agree that colors are important in our life. In most cases we don't even realize it, this is something subconscious. Well-chosen colors can make a huge difference, for example in movies or art.

Colors balance our chi, triggers emotions and memories, connect us to nature, inspire us, and can even seem to slow down time. When you look at a sunrise or sunset especially over beautiful blue water it can make your heart sing or bring you to tears. The colors orange, red, blue and purple both separately and in natures unique majestic sequence twice a day inspires joy. Walking in the moonlight is another color experience where the world seems to slow down. Walk through a lush green forest forest and feel the effect of the color green. As you breathe its essence it fills your soul, increases your connection with love, truth ,hope, new life and the opening to wonder. Green is relaxing and balancing. Notice that hospital use shade of green for walls and scrubs to calm and center patients and staff. Blue calms stress. It brings the feeling of peace and connection. Look at all the blue pills marketed these days for sleep and anxiety. It is also a color used for self expression and associated with the throat chakra and speaking your truth.

Colors represent different meanings to different cultures and different individuals. Get in touch with the colors that resonate for you and decorate yourself and your environment with them to better your life. Choose clothing and accessories that make you feel safer, more vibrant and more powerful.
Colors are important for us. Ifwe are surrounded by dark colors our attitude to life becomes bad, we are more depressed and so on. If we look at lots of green it makes us peacefull and relaxed (I'm not talking about the money here, but meybe it works the same :D ). Every color has some influence on us, I don't know how exactly does it work but it is amazing. It is good to have bright colors around you to feel better.

Colors are important for sure, practically everywhere in our everyday lives, for example in the interior, cloth that we choose, nature around us. And of course it's really important in movies, there was a project compressing all movie frames into a single color stripe showing color consistency in movies - for example Matrix looked like a stripe with dark and green pixels.
Yes, I agree that colors are important. Because of our favourite colors, we choose our clothes for example. In my opinion, colors also express our personality and mood.

Yes, I agree that certain shades of colors have an impact on how we feel. Personally, I have noticed that in the working area the colors need to be calming, cool and not too bright in order for me to focus, while colors in my living room are a mix of warm colors. The surroundings which we see on the daily basis should be responding to kind of activities we tend to do there in order for us to fulfill our needs without discrations.
Using of color is really important not only in the movies but in our normal life, color brings some information we see red as to be caution of danger and other colors bring information too. From a movie side color is really important when we are trying to make a good shots, using of color is very important for directors and can give a really impressive effect.

I can't agree with you more Olena, colors are very important but I think that everything what we call non-verbal communication affects more than common signals. Scientints say that more than 50% informations are expressed in non-verbal way, about 35% is variety and only 15% words. Sometimes I'm reflecting if there is possibility to express ourselves without speaking :)
In my opinion colors are very important. Film makers can influence our mood with them, people can express themselves with colors of their clothing etc. There is even a field of learning called "color psychology". My favourite color is red from a very long time. I don't think it ever changed.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
