Week 12 [25.01 - 31.01] What will be happen if we detonate all nuclear bombs at once?

Do you ever think about how many and how powerful are nuclear bombs? Everyone know what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki but these bombs are a lot of less powerful than modern missiles. In the video below you have description scary things – detonation all nuclear bombs in one time.

Questions:

1.          Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?

2.       What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should    destroy all of them? Why?

3.       Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?

1. Before I watched the movie, I expected at least 4 nuclear bombs in the world to be ready. Maybe not exactly 4 bombs, but 4 countries have nuclear bombs. I thought the bombs were in the US, China, Russia and India.

2. I believe that we should keep them and develop them. Technology can be very useful for generating energy. In my opinion, spacecraft should use this technology because it can turn out to be very good nowadays.

3. Of course I'm afraid of atomic bombs because it cannot be effectively defended against. Instead of defusing bombs, I believe that humanity should come up with an effective protection against them. In this way, we could still continue research on this technology. A war with an atomic bomb can happen at any time, but an attack with this weapon doesn't make much sense. In my opinion, we can only threaten the atomic bomb. If someone shoots us a bomb, we will shoot ours at them, and both countries will be destroyed and uninhabitable for many years.

1. I've knew a ballpark number. I've written and defended thesis about nuclear weapons 3 years ago. It's incredible that even with multiple pacts that restrain production, possesion and use, there are so many atomic bombs around the world, and their number isn't really going down.

2. I believe that best way to stay alive is to get rid of all atomic bombs, or at least most of them (of course it's pretty much impossible, what country would give away it's atomic advantage on it's own?). I believe existance of weapons that are able to anihilate entire globe brings more risk than advantages. Especially dangerous is MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) doctrine. It was founded in 60's in USA. It pretty much means that if any atomic bomb wielding country get's attacked with atomic bomb, it will mean anihilation of both attacker and defender. Let's take USA and Russia for an example. Both of them has atomic arsenals so big, they can anihilate the globe almost on their own. In case one attack another, why would they hesitate, not to use their whole firepower?

3. It's hard to tell if I feel afraid of atomic bomb. I'm rather afraid whould it could do to the whole environment. Right now risk of nuclear warfare is relaitvely low. During Cuban crisis it was at it's peak. To visualize that better, in 60s group of researchers come up with and idea of "Humanity clock". When it reaches 12:00, we go extinct. It of course doesn't measure time, but it indicates how close we are to anihilation. During Cuban crisis it was set to 11:59. Scary stuff.

1. Before watching the video, I had no idea.
2. I believe that nuclear weapons should not exist. It is too dangerous and cannot be used in any useful way. A person with enough power can lead to a huge catastrophe bordering on the destruction of an entire planet with such technology.
3. Yes, I'm afraid of the atomic bomb. There is definitely a possibility of such a conflict. No prohibitions can block the person who will have access to this technology.

1. Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?

Before watching the video I expected 10 times less bombs to be ready to use.

2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?

This weapon should never be used and should be destroyed, because it cause harm for the next people generations, but in my opinion the humanity will never agree on destroying it.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?

There is nothing to be afraid of, as we saw in the video the effect of nuclear bomb will take only a few seconds.

Well, I had just a rough idea of how many countries possess bombs, but I was not sure about the estimate total number.
Certainly, it is a considerable amount.
Countries probably need that much, so that in case they are attacked, they can still retaliate.

It's indeed unfortunate, but in my opinion, nuclear weaponry serves it's purpose.
This purpose is fear.
There is hardly any chance that someone decides to use such a weapon, without fear of repercussions.
Obviously, there are doubtful leaders everywhere, but I am sure that even in North Korea, dictator cannot decide alone, to launch warhead.

The risk of conflict is ever present, but we have to live with it, like with many other risks.
Summarizing, atomic bomb can give the country some protection, especially if it is threatened by conventional army.
One thing to consider, is that the arms race is not over.
There are already implemented protection measures against missiles and we should prepare for more exciting mass destruction weapons created by man. :)

1.
I knew that it was a huge quanity, but I did not not the exact number. Also I know that a lot of them has already been disarmed and both biggest nuclear powers in this world
are trying to minimze the number they keep.

2.
I think they should be kept for now, so that no nation will be the only nuclear force in the world, meaning they get to dominate various aspects of it. I think however that no nuclear tests should take place, because it destroys precious ecosystems and has no valid reason to be done.

3.
I am not. I would be if North Korea had a successful atomic test, but I think they are far from it.

Very interesting article, answering your questions

I thinks it's a bit tricky question. I'm quite interested in that topic, and I know some approximated numbers about how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world (they were really close to that presented in the video). But I believe that the real data, real numbers about how many bomb are really in some countries possesion, and ready to use will never be revealed to the public.

It's a hard question. Nuclear weapons needs to be managed and operated carefully, I think he humanity in the current stage is not ready for taking responsibility for all of effects if some mistakes would take place. On the other hand that type of weapon can be usefull to protect the earth from some objects coming from the space such as meteorites, for example detonating such a explosive can change the trajectory of thath object. Should we destroy all of them (of course in a safe way :) )? In my opinion it would be hard to force all of the countries which are owning such a weapon to do it.

I'm not afraid, according to the current situation I don't think so.

1. Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?
I knew that there are many nuclear bombs around the world, but I didn't expect the number to be this high! It is truly terrifying how many of them are ready to be used. All it takes to start a nuclear disaster is one madmen with access to the atomic bomb.

2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?
I am against nuclear weapon. Not only is it cruel but also its after effects are devastating to the environment. Humans have always been cruel, but this kind of weapon doesn't justify the means. I wish we could destroy it, but I'm afraid it's not possible. The knowledge that other countries have nuclear weapon holds many potentially dangerous leaderships in check. Also, I don't believe that nuclear energy it is dangerous or evil. It is one of the best alternatives to traditional sources of energy that are harmful to the environment. If used right, nuclear energy is beneficial to humanity.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?
Yes, the possibility of nuclear conflict scares me. If you don't die where you stand, you will have to face consequences of radiation that are horrifying. Everything in sight becomes unusable, water, land... I saw documentaries about Hiroshima and the only word that comes to mind after watching it is "hell". I hope that no conflict will escalate in the near future, and that I will never have to face the possibility of nuclear war.

1. We can certainly distinguish several military leaders: the USA, Russia, China and North Korea. Probably each of these countries has several dozen to several hundred nuclear bombs. I think there may be as many as 1,000 nuclear bombs in the world in the world.

2. I think people shouldn't have access to such a powerful weapon with such a long range. In fact, the fate of humanity depends on a few extremely aggressive and ruthless people at the head of great powers. We have seen in the past how terrible the effects of the use of nuclear bombs can be.

3. I am not for one reason - if I am to die from an atomic bomb, I will die so quickly that I won't even have time to think. Death from such a bomb takes a fraction of a second. Worse, if I was far enough and close enough that I would feel the effects of radiation on myself, which could put me in the radiation syndrome. It's hard for me to answer this question. Many countries do not get along, but I do not believe that we are now in danger of a nuclear conflict. However, it is not known how it will be in the future - let it be as calm as possible.
Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?
No, before watching this video, I had no idea about how many nuclear bombs ready to be used are in the world. I hadn't taken much interest in the subject before, so the data presented in the video above was new to me.
2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?
Due to my lack of knowledge on the subject I would prefer not to comment. However, I believe that using nuclear weapons will not bring good results.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?
I think there is a risk of nuclear conflict. I think it's scary but I've never thought about it before so I don't - I'm not afraid

I honestly had no idea. I guessed that there must be enough of them to destroy all life on Earth, but I didn't expect there to be that many.

In a perfect utopian world we wouldn't need it and as you can see it carries a huge risk (I'm not such a fan of post-apo) so I think it should be destroyed. But as you know it is practically unrealistic for people to stop fighting wars between each other

That's how I see it as a real threat. Being scared is too big a term but I'm certainly aware of the current threat
1. Before watching the video I thought that the total number doesn't exceed 1000. I was surprised at how many bombs the USA and Russia have.
2. I think that nuclear energy should only be used and further developed in power plants. All bombs should be destroyed but that of course will never happen. It shows who's in the power.
3. I don't think that any of the countries that possess atomic bombs will decide to use them. After the tests in the previous century, people are aware of the consequences of using nuclear bombs. On the other hand, the cold war is more possible. Especially between China and the USA.
@Jędrzej Kowalczyk

In my opinion even when everyone officially destroy all nuclear bombs, we can have 100% sure that counties like China/Iran/North Korea will hide some of them to scare other countries.
The scariest part is that I think that nobody want to use them but one big mistake will provide to nuclear war between to enemy countries.
@Maciej Antonik

Yes, death from atomic bombs will be quick but I think this is the most scary with it. You don't know when it happen and possibility to situation that some of the soldier make wrong mistake is high. When you will know that atomic bomb comes near you, it will be only few minutes to try escape, to say goodbye to your friends, in my opinion this is the worst thing in atomic bombs.
@Kacper N

I agree with you. Nuclear bombs can be used to protect Earth from dangerous from space. I think that we still need to improve our weapons (of course in right way) to protect us from meteorites or maybe enemy aliens.
@olga jaroń

You are right, world after nuclear conflict will be very unfriendly place to people. Even with somebody will survive explosions and radiation, this will be only short extension of life. At this moment nuclear bombs are only the weapon which can destroy all life on Earth.
1. Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?
Before that, I did not know enough about nuclear weapons. I was betting on two, maybe three nuclear bombs. In countries such as the USA, China and Korea.

2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?
This is a very difficult topic. From my point of view, there should be no atomic bombs in the world. Having such a bomb we still feel insecure. Especially in a conflict situation with a nuclear weapon holder. Currently, countries are using atomic bombs to arouse respect and fear. These bombs were never intended to be used. They are owned by these countries only to emphasize their power.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?
I don't think I am worried about a nuclear conflict these days. Now most conflicts are played out in secret. Possibly with the use of new technologies and hacker attacks. Especially in times of a pandemic, I doubt that there will be any nuclear attack because the full attention of all countries is focused on defeating the pandemic with the least economic impact.

1. Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?

I didn't know the exact number of bombs on the whole Earth, but I assumed there were several thousand of them. Interestingly, the film probably didn't take into account the bombs that are already on our Earth after the wars, and which are lying somewhere as duds. Such an explosion could activate these bombs as well.

2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?

I think the number of bombs on Earth is far too high. It is worth having some security that is properly stored in a safe way, perhaps we will use it to protect the Earth, after all, you never know what might happen. One thing is for sure, we cannot use it against ourselves, I am a staunch opponent of war.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?

Yes, I'm afraid of atoms bombs, but I'm in good thoughts that mankind will never use them against themselves again.
1.
I don't know the exact number, but from what I've heard The US, UK, China, Russia, and India are the countries that have nuclear warheads. Other than that I'd guess that Israel, North Korea, South Korea, and possibly Germany have access to nuclear warfare.

2.
I think that it's a weapon that the number of how many warheads each country has shows its position and power in the world. I don't think that it would be used in the event of war, but the countries that have them should also have some sort of defense in case of an atomic attack from other countries. I also think that it's better to have several countries have access to atomic warfare rather than to have countries ban the atomic bombs when one country that does not follow that rule would threaten all other countries with their bombs. I hope that sentence makes any sense, haha.

3.
I don't think about it very much, and when I do, I'm not afraid of it in any way. I also think that the situation in the world is not that tense right now that there would be a threat of a nuclear conflict.

1. Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?

I had no idea humanity have that many nuclear weapons but I knew that most of those are in possession of America and Russia. That number and whole video is a little bit terrifying. I had no idea that it is currently possible to nuke every city in the world and kill half of civilization by instant.

2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?

Firstly, I am not sure if there is a way to get rid of those which are already created and for sure it is more complicated then just destroying them. Second of all in my opinion existence of nukes are keeping world peace, no country wants to start an open war because of fear of nukes.

3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?

Not really, I do not feel threatened at all because using nukes by one country would “allow” other countries to use theirs as well creating chain reaction and destroying world as we know it (probably whole civilization) and no country, no leader wants that.

I had no idea there is so many of them. The number itself says a lot and terrifies me. Now as I'm aware of it i can;t tell I'm feeling good
2. What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?
We don't really need nuclear weapon but when it comes to nuclear energy It's a different story. If we could remake the weapon into power plants which are also very dangerous but at least we would have reliable source of power.
3. Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?
Not that I'm afraid of them. I know the result of nuclear bomb explosions but we can only hope that we would never use them.
To be honest I had no idea how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world. Apart from that, I think there are so many weapons that can be as dangerous as nuclear bombs that we can’t imagine.
I have no opinion about nuclear bombs because, as I mentioned, we already produced so many weapons that nuclear bombs are only a small part of it. If we would destroy all bombs, what should we do with other staff? Also when we would be involved in some conflict and be forced to defend ourselves, what would we do then?
I wouldn’t say that I’m afraid of atomic bombs, because I wouldn't say it’s the most dangerous weapon in the world. In my opinion, we should be aware for sure, and keep get informed about all that stuff.

1. Before watching this video I wasn't aware that there were so many atomic bombs around the world, and I must say, that is quite shocking.

2. I believe that nuclear weapons are completly unnecessary, the only thing you can acomplish with them is to kill a bunch of civilians. I think that nuclear weapons should be disarmed, using them will just bring harm to human race.

3. Of course I am afraid, why wouldn't I be? Although, in my mind possibility of nuclear conflict is very low, and I hope that humans will never use these bombs against each other.
1.Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?
I havent known how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world. Im not a fan of militaria and i do not follow news like that. But it was interesting to get to know that we can end all of the life on our planet once again. BTW the kurzgesagt videos are awsome.

2.What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?
I think that nuclear weapons are something too dangerous to be used as a weapon and we shouldnt use it anymore because the consequences of using it can be felt by everyone on earth.

3.Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?
I would like to think that there is no threat about nuclear war to explode but im not an expert in politics. All i can have is hope that we are ruled by people that have enought intelligence not to use nuclear weapons.

1.Do you know before watch this video – how many nuclear bombs are ready to use around the world?

Before I watched this video I wasn't really sure about the number of nuclear bombs that are ready to use at the moment. It really made my scared knowing how many of them are able to be deployed and whipe-out all life in it's explosion distance.

2.What do you thing about nuclear weapon? Do we need them to keep for human safety or we should destroy all of them? Why?

In my honest opinion, I think that one day somebody will click this big red button and when this time will come, all other people that have the same big red button doing the same thing will also click it. I got a feeling that this day will come very soon.

3.Do you afraid about atomic bombs? Do you think that possibility of nuclear conflict right now is high?

I don't think we should be scared of them, if they will blow up we won't feel anything in this moment, death will be quick. I'm only scared in what condition it will leave this poor planet. As I said earlier, the judgment day is by the corner.

Before watching the movie, I thought there were even a dozen atomic bombs in the world. Honestly, I never thought about it before. Now I know that I have to change my approach to such serious matters.

I believe that atomic bombs pose a serious threat to humanity. They are a kind of weapon, and all weapons are used to mutilate and kill people, which I strongly oppose. there have been too many cases of bomb tragedy in the history of the world. I am afraid of the "effectiveness" and firepower of atomic bombs. Part of the country may disappear in moments! I believe that any way of harming people is wrong and leads to dire consequences. I am in favor of peaceful conflict resolution, and every weapon should become a relic in the museum.

I believe that atomic bombs are a serious threat because their victims are mostly ordinary people - civilians who do not want war. They are innocent and die because of the carelessness of the head of state. Hopefully an atomic bomb will never be used.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
