Why Meat is the Best Worst Thing in the World

The average European consumes nearly 80 kg of meat every year. Meat is a big part of our culture,

but is it really as beneficial as we used to think?

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Comments

I honestly do not like meat. As a child I used to like chicken nuggets or things like that but as I was growing up and getting more and more aware of how meat is being made and from where it comes, I just started feeling a little disgusted by it. I am not a vegetarian or anyone like that, however I think that I am a perfect candidate to be one, as I eat almost no meat. And it is not that I cry because of the animals that are killed (of course I would prefer not to kill them) but I just feel disgusted by meat. In the video they said that some people do not consider something a proper meal if there is no animal involved. When it comes to me, the less meat there is in a meal, the better the meal is. I eat meat maybe once a week if my mom cooks it. I have never touched raw meat and I have never even thought of cooking it or doing any dish with it. Whenever I cook something it is always just vegetables and rice and as long as my boyfriend doesn’t ask me “where is meat?” I don’t even remember that such thing exists. I am at this level of being disgusted by meat that I do not even eat ham on my sandwitches. I think that the video didn’t really change anything in my thinking as I already hate meat. Nevertheless, when it comes to the regulations for livestock production I definitely think it should be as restricted as possible. I used to be this kind of person who didn’t want to think about how it all works and just naively believed that our world is highly developed and sensitive to the suffering of others, that they have some special methods for animals not to suffer. But one time I heard someone talking about humane slaughter of animals and asking question like “How killing can be humanitarian? What is humanitarian about killing an animal? However you do it, you still kill a living being which wants to live and have rights to live.” and it really made me think more and made me feel even more disgusted by meat.
1. I eat meat every day, but I try to reduce the amount of it. For now, I don't eat meat in every dish which is the thing I think I improved. I noticed that a problem for me is that I need to know how to prepare dishes with more vegetables simply because I know how to cook meat, but I don't know how to prepare vegetables and other non-meat things to be delicious. I read some recipes, I try to think about what I eat for example in restaurants and what ingredients they used. I think that I will never stop eating meat, but I will enjoy eating various other products.

2. Although I am a meat lover I can't deny the video changed my feelings about eating meat. The facts and the numbers are surprising - especially the amount of water needed to produce 1KG of meat that we buy in a shop.

3. Not really. The meat is anyway more expensive than other products and if any regulations are created, we will eventually pay more. If the supplies for meat production will get shorter, meat might again start to be a luxury product, so we will cut down on buying it. I am looking forward to seeing a common production of meat in laboratories. This will for sure help us with fighting the consequences of meat production.

Honestly, I am not a fan of meat and eat it just once or twice a week. Usually, it can be chicken or turkey. I can eat vegetarian food along the whole day, but I can not refuse from meat at all.
Once, it was a period when I wasn`t allowed to eat meat. And to be honest, I never got full and always wanted to eat.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after watching this video?
I do not think that my feelings about meat have changed after watching the video. I was already aware of the harm, which causes meat production to the environment. I agree that it is a problem. But at the end of the video, I really wanted to eat a burger.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
I do not think so. In my opinion, the main thing that can help in such a situation is to reduce meat waste. People should be more responsible about food consumption. Just simple planing of the weekly menu will bring a huge effect to the environment.
Moreover, it will be a great alternative to produce and consume lab meat.

For as long as I can remember I never liked meat. The texture, smell, look, and taste just never been something that attracted me. As a child, I was eating meat as it was something forced on me by my parents. They still do believe that in order to be healthy we should be eating meat. But as soon as I moved out I "naturally" as I may say so, stopped eating it. I was just simply forgetting about it whilst planning my groceries and to be honest, I noticed it only half a year later when one of my roommates pointed that out. As for meat being present in every meal, as you could have already guessed, I don't think it's necessary. Even more, 90% of the time when I cooked something meatless at home, my dad(who is a meat lover and says it's the only thing that satisfies his hunger) wouldn't even notice that the meal was vegetarian and still be perfectly satisfied. But I never claimed to be a vegan/vegetarian as I think these labels are too loud and sometimes bring too much attention. Even so, I get asked a lot about that, especially around new people. Last year I decided to dive deeper into the topic and watched a few documentaries on how meat is produced. To be honest, the first one I watched I couldn't even finish and turned off after 6-7 minutes. I was that much disgusted by the industry and couldn't make my mind up on how people can be this cruel. It took me almost a month to try and watch another one of these documentaries. It was more, let's say so, scientifically based and had more facts not only on how animals are treated but also the industry's impacts on our planet. So the video was no surprise for me.
As for restricting livestock production. I don't, to be honest, what's will be the best. Personally, I believe that educating ourselves about different problems going on in the world is one of the best practices for living mindfully. And as for me, it's easier to make decisions when you know your facts and reasons.
And on this note, I'll stop or this could go on and on and on, which I'm sorry about😅

I really don't remember, when I had meat last time because I eat vegetables in my daily life. I don't get bored of it because I am used to, I modify vegetables with spices and it is yummy for me. But I don't refuse to say I don't eat meat, I eat Chicken or Turkish not any other and, what I personally notice about meat is , it will take more time to cook as compare to vegetables and I am not one who cook meal for a week and frozen it .I cook my food daily and I love it.They said in the video that if no animal is involved, some people might not consider something to be a proper meal. When it comes to me, the less beef a meal has, the healthier it is.

After watching the film, I do not think that my thoughts about meat have changed. I was already mindful of the damage posed to the ecosystem by the processing of beef. I accept that this is a problem.

The production of livestock appears to be more dynamic than the production of crops. Production intervals are less pronounced for cattle, even though seasonally affected. The reproduction periods of some animals are very brief (rabbits, poultry), while those of others (large ruminants) are much longer. Seasonal effects can be compensated in more intensive manufacturing processes by adjusting the atmosphere by enhanced diet and artificially regulated light and temperature.Livestock contributes to food supply, family nutrition, family income, savings on investments, land fertility, livelihoods, transport, farm momentum, diversification of agriculture and sustainable agricultural development.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
I eat meat everyday. I don't need to have it in every meal but still I can't imagine living without it. I like the taste of this and it is also good if you do workout and want to build muscles.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
To be honest I already saw this video a few months ago. I agree with you about presented things. Anyway I don't think that situation can be changed. Even if few people will stop eating meat the rest won't do that. Although recently being vegetarian is more popular than ever.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
I think this could help a lot. I don't think that Poland will do something like that. Maybe if European Union will change regulations it can happen. Honestly I think that could be a great solution for this problem.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
I eat meat a lot, but for some time we have been trying to limit meat meals with my family. Lately, we eat a lot of fish together with the family, I used to dislike fish at all, but now salmon with sweet potatoes is probably my favorite dish.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
No, I've started changing my diet for a while now. I try to avoid meat, eat meat more or less only 2 days a week. There are many vegetables in my diet, hummus, beetroot burgers (really delicious). I know that meat is important as it provides a lot of protein, but it can be replaced.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
Yes, it seems to me that the animal production regulations should be stricter. Our tables should receive meat of the highest quality. Even if the price of meat were to increase, it might change the diet of Poles.

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
I eat meat very often. Maybe not everyday but almost I would say. But lately I decided to make a small change to make my diet healthier so I decided to learn some vegetarian dishes as well. So from now if I keep eating meat everyday at least some of the meals during the day will be vegeterian. It is a first step I decided to do, maybe some day I will decide to step ahead even more and have free meat days.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
Not really because it was nothing new for me except the some facts for example laboratory meat, eco meat production and statistics about environment at the beginning of the video.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
I think they should but I also understand that it is hard to track those kind of things and also it would effect in higher taxes for meat in which we as consumers would have to deal with. But nonetheless I still believe that it would be better. Maybe if meat was more expensive we would eat it more rarely like in the past when it was a luxury product.
Interesting presentation. Answering your questions:

1. I eat meat very often and it is present in almost every meal. My favorite meat is chicken and to be honest I can't imagine a dish without chicken.

2. No, my feelings about meat didn't change after I watched this video. As I wrote above, I really like meat dishes.

3. Honestly, I have no opinion on regulations for livestock production. They are what they are. They make things easier for everyone.

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

Probably daily, not in every meal. It's very convenient for me, that's the main reason. I was already aware cattle meat is the least healthy option planet-wise, so I usually stick with chicken or pork. I eat lamb maybe once per year, on some fancy occasion or when there are no other options in the menu (sometimes happens in the indian restaurants with curry)

2. Did your feelings about meat change after watching this video?

I highly appreciate the part where we are encouraged to "make eating meat special again". I agree with it. As far as I'm aware you still need some nutrients from meat on a weekly basis, so giving up on meat completely might not be the healthiest option for you (but it might be for the planet, though).

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

I think that's the only option to shift society mindset. Vegan enthusiasts groups (constantly growing in size every year as far as I know) are only the initial spark but without authority decision or guidance their efforts are insignificant in larger scale. I would be supporting and restriction on that field and then also change my own behaviour. Currently, I use things as their are.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

I used to eat meat almost every day. However, since I have started reading more articles about the negative impact of the meat, I have tried to reduce this amount. Currently I eat meat around 2-3 times per week. My first step was removing the bad quality meat like chicken or ground meat as much as possibly could. Secondly, I found out that I really did not like ham for breakfast and I was just eating it, because of my habit. Furthermore, I realized how many great dishes can be made from vegetables that are easily available and how greatly they taste. I really do not need to eat meat daily and I believe that I found a perfect balance between eating a lot of vegetables and enjoying a steak or burger 2-3 times per week.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after watching this video?

Not really to be honest, because I have already read and watched a lot of articles and documentaries about this issue. However, I hope it is really shocking for people that have not been interested in this topic. People really eat too much meat. Not only do the animals suffer, because of the humiliating condition, but also our planet and every human being because of the number of droppings the animals produce. Recently I have read the article that the droppings of animals produce more pollution than factories in the USA. I am not saying that suddenly everybody has to stop eating the meat, I am just saying it would be great if we could slowly stop eating it daily.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Of course, they should be, and these animals should not suffer as much as they do right now. Unfortunately, I do not see how it can change as people still want to buy meat at the lowest and this is the only way they can get the meat so cheaply.
I eat meat quite often, although I don't need it in every meal.
However, I know a person who eats just meat.
He is a pretty normal individual, has sports achievements so I don't think such diet affects human too terribly. :)

My feelings aren't changed by a tiny bit, I was aware of the things the video presented.
I support the view that meat production is not the purest thing in the world.
On the other hand, we can see that the best meat producers are those who respect their livestock.
Consumers are constantly made aware of shady practices, thus market regulates itself.

I firmly believe that prohibition will never work.
Instead of closing innocent people businesses, support the science.
The faster we synthesize real meat, the sooner this controversy will be over.
Remember that not everyone follows the same codex.
Just imagine billions pumped into research instead of politicians trying to hunt down helpless farmers.

1. I try to eat meat every day. If I don't have meat in my main meal, I add it to breakfast or supper. I believe that meat is an essential ingredient in our diet and I try to eat it every day.

2. This video did not change my perception of meat. I believe it is the most desirable type of meal for our body. I can't imagine a day without meat.

3. No! I don't know exactly how to answer that question. Perhaps I would ask my own and ask if there should be regulations on banana farming? If someone pays for something, they have it.

Growing up my feelings about meat also changed. I also am not a vegetarian but I try to eat as little meat as possible. Unfortunately, my family is full of meat eaters who refuse to eat a meal without meat in it, but I'm trying to smuggle as much meatless dishes into their diet as possible. You are right about humanitarian slaughter- I don't think that killing an innocent being full of the will to live is human, but at least it is less gruesome.

@Marcin Węgłowski
I think that it is important that you are trying to reduce meat consumption. Our polish cuisine is full of meat, but fortunately times we live in provide us with many meatless alternatives. I also find it hard to prepare delicious vegetarian dishes so I often look for recipes on the internet- it really amazes me how imaginative some people are in creating meatless dishes.
Just like you I find it shocking how badly meat production impacts on the environment. For me this is the main reason for which we should reduce meat consumption and production all over the world. As you mentioned, the meat was already pretty expensive, but on the contrary to your opinion, I think meat production should be more regulated. If prices grow higher, making people to cut down meat consumption may be as a result meat production would decrease- I think that would bring positive change to our environment. Creating artificial meat in laboratories is also a great alternative for traditional meat production.

It's interesting that you couldn't get full on the period of not eating any meat - maybe that's a proof that human body craves meat afterall and it is necessary for our health. Or maybe you didn't find any good alternatives for it? Your opinion about reducing meat waste is very important. People tend to throw away a lot of food, I think it is really wasteful.

It's amazing that people are capable of making meat substitutes that taste so similar to the real meat that even real meat lovers like your dad can't tell a difference! I also agree with your opinion about the labels of Veganism and vegetarianism. Unfortunately, some vegetarians are too emotional and forceful in their beliefs, I think that is the reason why big part of our society is prejudiced towards them.

@Przemysław Witek
I disagree with your opinion- I think that spreading awareness about the effects that meat production has on our planet can change the current situation. Although it is hard to change diet of meat lovers such as yourself, I think it is worth a shot. I believe that everyone must make even a small sacrifice in order to help our planet. If European Union did change the regulations maybe Poland would be forced to also do so.

That’s great that you try to eat less meat! Unfortunately, over-fishing is also one of the biggest problems of the modern world that harm ecosystem. I see that you found delicious substitutes for traditional meat dishes- beetroot burgers sound amazing! I agree that the regulations should be stricter even if it means rice of meat prices. This solution may force people to reconsider their diet and help us save the environment.

Even small changes are important in order to change unhealthy habits, I hope one day you will fulfil your goals and have meet-free days. As you mentioned we didn’t use to eat as much meat in the past as we do now. Meat was a luxury product that was consumed on special occasions, that only proves that people do not need to eat meat every day. There are many amazing meat substitutes that are often cheaper than real meat, so restricting regulations would not bring any harm to our lives.

I must say that I am disappointed that this video didn’t change your view about meat production. I know that meat tastes good, but I can’t imagine having it for every meal. Not only is It's boring, but also unhealthy. I’m sorry that you don’t find harmful effects of meat production important enough to reconsider not eating meat every day. Maybe if you tried some delicious meat-free dishes you could see that there are amazing alternatives to eating meat every day. Regulations are not supposed to just make things easier, but to make things better- right now they do not benefit us and our planet and should be changed in my opinion.

It’s great to see that argument against meat consumption made you reconsider your own behavior. I also used to eat a lot of meat products, mostly because of the habits of my family, but once I reduced meat in my diet I felt an improvement in my health. Vegetable dishes are as tasteful as meat dishes, but are healthier and don’t have such negative impact on the environment. Unfortunately, there is a big group of people who can’t imagine living without eating meat daily, their behavior drives meat industries and escalate the crisis caused by meat production

Of course, there are big differences between meat producers, there are those who care about the wellbeing of their stock and those who exploit it as much as they can. Unfortunately, those who don’t care about comfort of animals and state of the environment don’t face any consequences, that’s why I believe regulations are needed. Moreover, packages the meat is served in often have misleading information printed on them, that makes costumers confused. Furthermore, customers often prefer to buy cheaper product, they think with their wallet and don’t care about consequences the meat production has on our planet.

It looks like you haven’t watched this video at all or just missed every point of it. It’s ok to eat meat every day, but I don’t think it is the most important part of our diet. Our ancestors didn’t eat meat every day so I’m sure it’s not as crucial as you think- you should try surviving a day without any meat, maybe your views would change? The regulations are not about taking away people’s rights, but about saving our planet. Meat production has a huge environmental impact and we should do everything in our power to make it better.

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

I'm not a big fan of meat, so I don't eat it more often than once for a couple of a day. I don't feel like my body need it oftener, so I don't have a necessity to increase an amount of meat in my menu. Of course meat is important in our lives, because of it the human could conduct the process of evolution, but the statictics indicate that eating meat more than a few time per week isn't healthy for us.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after watching this video?

How i said in my answer above I don't eat meat often but after this movie I'll try to limit it even more. The process of "making" food is disgusting. I know that XXI century it's a time of capitalism but the basic feelings of mercy shouldn't disappear in us. It's horrible that animals are forced to live in such a terrible conditions!

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Yes, I totally agree. If the meat didn't be so accessible, people would respect the victim of the animals. Additionally, the huge amount of food is thrown away, that solution would restrict this thoughtless process.

I do not eat too much meat. I sometimes eat ham on a sandwich and during family dinner once a week. I definitely prefer to eat cheese instead of meat. Unfortunately I don't like fish, and it would be a good substitute for meat. I also try to eat a lot of legumes and nuts in order to replenish the necessary protein.
My feelings about eating meat have changed much earlier. I am not a total vegetarian, but I am limiting eating meat and buying it from good sources and not from big inhumane animal farms.
I strongly agree that the restrictions on breeding animals should be much stricter. Unfortunately, what happens on the farms goes through all kinds of notions. There should not be such things in the world. I have watched many reports on this subject and I was terrified.

I usually eat it once a day. I do not need it every meal, and sometimes I do prefer to eat fish instead of it for a couple of days.
2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
Definitely. The first thing I did was to check where the nearest organic store is. Before, I didn't even think about the conditions in which these animals live.
3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
Yes I do think so. I also heard that Biedronka refused to sell eggs that do not come from free ranges. And I hope this is only a beginning.

1. It depends on everything: my mood, the weather, the state of my body, the amount of free time. Pretty much everything. Sometimes I can live without it for months and sometimes I want to eat it during every meal.

2. I had known such facts before and I my opinion didn’t change as I really can imagine myself how this system works. My philosophy is based on my needs, which usually don’t seem extreme, they have certain borders.

3. I believe the whole culture of consuming meat should be different. It’s changing now and people have opened eyes and noticed lots of other products in shops. I think it’s a good trend and we can find positive impacts in the future.
Maciej Antonik said…
1. I eat meat practically every day. Maybe I don't need meat in every meal, but meat is one of the few things I can eat and I don't feel bad after it (I have health problems with eating certain things).

2. They have not changed, I have already heard about everything in this video. I am very sad that animals are bred in such terrible conditions, but I cannot do anything about it. I try to buy meat that comes from organic farming, but it is not always possible. It makes me very sad that farm animals stand all their miserable lives in a small cage and their own sh!t. I believe that for meat and animals that have died, so that we have enough food to eat, we must have great respect. An attitude where people eat meat, rave about how delicious it is and completely do not care about animal suffering is at least immoral.

3. Restrictions should be a bit greater, but first of all, human awareness should be increased. Most people don't care what they eat or what they should eat, so until we successfully reach most people, the restrictions may not be effective enough.
Hi Olga! How are you doing?
I liked this video. It shows the problem with understanding and solution. I have aversion to some pro-vegan videos because of how they are made. They show cruel images and aim to cause guilt. This one was made with understanding.
I eat meat quite rarely. Most of the time once a week, sometimes more often maybe three times a week. I’m fussy about the meat… I don’t like the mass-produced ones and I have the luxury to eat high-quality free-range meat. I even had a chance to meet a cow that was my future steak. After I watched this video I was thinking about the pollution and pain I cause to the planet. I completely agree that regulations for livestock production should be more restricted. Even if the price of the meat would be much higher.

Eating meat is pretty interesting case to make. I presonally really like meat, but I'm not some hardocore meat-or-die kind of guy. I guess I usually eat meat once in two/three days. As of today, there are more and more interesting vegetarian meals, which are really tasty. In some cases, I can't even say if there is meat in it or not!

I'm not really a fan of those videos. And my feelings didn't change. I'm pretty confidnent I know enough about meat, to responsibly merge it into my diet. Of course, overeating meat is terrible for your health (and earth!) but only some of it is critical for healthy development.

Problem with quality of life of lifestock is pretty hard topic. On one hand, killing lifestock just for meat might be considered as immoral. On the other hand, what other way do we have to produce meat in such quantities? I believe thruth lies inbetween. We shouldn't end production of meat, although we should increase lifestock's quality of life.

It did not make a huge impact on my feelings, because I have seen similar videos years ago, but it is useful to watch them regularly to remember and to pay attention on what you eat.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

I believe restriction won't change much, meat will always find its way, as we saw from the 'organic' example in the video. The only thing that need to be changes is a consumer's habits and understanding of the whole process of the steak creation.

2. I didn't hear anything new in this video, so no, it didn't change my attitude to the meat. Actually to be honest I believe that everyone on this blog already watched all the videos on Kurzgesagt channel lol.

3. We should raise taxes on those who produce meat and those who buy meat. In that way there will be more money to spend it on ecology recovery programs plus everyone will be a little bit healthier.

It's amazing that your feelings changed after watching this video! Buying from organic stores is a great start in fight for the improvement of lives of stock animals. Big chains of supermarkets like Biedronka have great impact on the way our food is produced. The more customers show dissatisfaction with the way certain products are produced, the better chances of seeing real changes.

Hi Justyna! It's true that many pro-vegan videos are made with so much hatred towards meat eaters that in the end they change nothing and only confirm people to believe that vegans are freaks. My grandparents used to raise chickens so I also had a "luxury" of meeting my future dinner. I'm glad this video made you think about meat production and how it affects our planet. If more people start thinking like you maybe restrictions will come true and quality of the meat production process will increase.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

I usually eat meat 6-7 times a week.
I do not need to eat meat for every meal. I never pay attention to eating meat once a week, I usually eat what I feel like and what is available nearby.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?

I must admit that the data presented in this video is shocking and surprising, but it has not affected my attitude towards eating meat.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Yes. In my opinion the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

I do not need to have a meat in every meal even though I love its taste. I try to eat meat in lowest amount I can, in effect I would say that I eat meat once or twice in a week. I am aware that this number could be improved but it is some achievement.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?

Not really, I was aware of most of information presented in the video, I did not know about male baby chickens being killed right after birth and that is horrific in my opinion. I have a mind set which is presented in the end of the video – I made meat something special in my diet and I do not think of it as an ordinary product. I cannot wait for lab produced meat to go viral because as I said I love the taste of meat.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Definitely, I think it should be considered luxury product as it was before because I have a feeling that many people had lost their “respect” for meat and forget how their meals are made.

For the past few months I’ve been on a „box diet” and there’s usually at least one meal including meat a day.
I have never been on a meat detox, so I can’t really tell if I can live without it, but I’m totally comfortable with vegetarian substitutes of meat in my diet. From time to time I like to visit/order from some vegan/vegetarian restaurants.
The first time I actually started to feel uncomfortable with eating meat, was when my brother showed me the uncut version of Rise Against’s video clip to „Ready to Fall”. I was 9 at that time and it literally made me dissolve in tears.
The video from your article didn’t really change my feelings - I was already aware of the harm caused to environment. However, to me, the biggest issue is how animals are treated, and yes, regulations for livestock production should definitely be restricted.

1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
I think, i eat meat 4-5 times a week, mainly in main course. It is not like, im carnivorous and i need to have meat in every meal, but i like meat, i like dishes with meat, eating meat smartly is also healthy for our bodies. I try to diversify my diet, so i eat also fishes, and from time to time some greens.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
Nope, i have to agree that some data presented in this video is shocking. Meat is huge part of our daily cuisine and most people can't eliminate meat from their diet. Im sure that people should respect animal intended for meat and limit animals suffering.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
I would say yes, restrictions should be greater , but people should also increse awareness about healthy eating. I hope restrictions will improve quality of the meat production process.

1. I can’t say I really enjoy eating meat, I think that meal also can be good without it. Maybe I eat meat a few times a week, but not every day. Definitely, I don’t need it in every meal, there are some meals which for me are not so good in a vegan version like kebab or hamburger, but I felt in love with vegan burritos and tacos. More than meal taste I like beans and mushrooms. Anyway for me harder to resign from eggs and milk. I’m into baking and unfortunately, it’s very hard to prepare a good cake or muffins without eggs or dairy products. But I always buy free-range eggs.

2. I heard about all those horrible things we do for animals, that’s why I was a vegetarian before. But unfortunately, I couldn’t resign from meat completely. So now I try to eat as less meat as I can.

3. Definitely yes. I believe that in the near future normal meat will be replaced by synthesized. But now we should think, how to minimalize animal suffering. I think that farms standards should be more restricted, so meat, eggs and dairy products will be more expensive. Because of the costs, people will be more respectful of those products. They won’t throw meat or eggs and will try to add less of them in their meals.

1. I eat meat a few times a week. I like it but it has never been a necessary thing that I can’t imagine my life without. I am not really proud of this, I know that the issue is very serious and that’s why I do my best to limit it.
2. To be honest, not really. I am aware of that, I have heard it many times and of course when I first find out about it I was shocked. Of course, it bothers me and I try to be conscious about meat consumption.
3. Yes, I think that restrictions could potentially change at least a part of a problem. It became a business that we have literally no control of. But before any actions, we should bring up a social discussion about this problem. We should raise awareness, talk to the experts and to those whose financial situation depends on meat production.

1. I like eating meat very much because it is very tasty and makes me feel full after a meal that contains meat. It is rare that I don’t eat meat for no reason in a week. The reason I don't eat meat on Fridays is because of fasting. On a daily basis, however, I miss meat if I don’t eat it at least in one meal a day.

2. The knowledge in the film isn't unknown to me. I have seen many films showing how nuggets and sausages are made. However, the very biology and hierarchy in the structure of animals is based on the fact that the weaker species are eaten by the stronger animals. However, the fact is that a large part of animal species where we like their meat very much or is very popular are kept in a cage in conditions where they are treated as a commodity. Therefore, I believe it is important to limit meat consumption at least once a week.

3.Yes, I believe we should respect nature and animals. It is known that we need a meat meal from time to time and this is a natural need. However, mass production, especially in the era of fast food development, leads to immoral treatment of animals as a commodity. Therefore, tightening the rules could help introduce better husbandry conditions for animals. If such rules were created, we could eat a limited amount of meat that is healthier for us and doesn’t cause suffering to animals that would be bred in appropriate conditions. The amount of meat consumed would also automatically decrease, as the appropriate conditions for animals slow down their growth.

1. I eat meat every day it's like a common thing for me. I was trying to reduce the consumption of meat but it didn't work for me because I was hungry after two hours. But if there is some type of diet that doesn't need meat and I wouldn't be hungry all the time I can try it.
2. I have watched a lot videos like this and I still eat meat so I think that this video won't change it either. Also the topic is familiar to me so it does not scare me how the nuggets or sausages are produced.
3. I think that the regulations could be more restricted and there should be a big fees if someone does not follow them. We should focus more on improving the animals living conditions and that should be restricted.

I would say that I eat meat very often. I don't have to have meat in every meal though.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?
Not much, I've always respected meat, it was a living being after all. Although, I didn't knew that restrictions for organic food in europe could be exploited so easily, and I will probably do more research before going shopping.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
I do, I believe that animals should be treated with respect. I don't mind if because of that meat prices would go up, maybe it would even lessen the consumption of meat, which would be a good thing.

Eating meat twice a week is a low number compared to the majority of the population. I also cannot wait to see lab produced meat in polish stores- I've red an article claiming that artificial meat will be soon available in the USA.

, Box Diet" is a great option- many people don't know how to prepare delicious meal without meat, box diet gives you the opportunity to try many vegan options without lifting a finger. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance of trying it myself, but I would love to give it a try one day.

I think that vegan hamburgers are as good if not better than traditional ones! Cauliflower hamburgers are delicious, they taste good and are less greasy than beef. Unfortunately, I can't see lab produced meat taking over regular meat production in the near future.

I don't think that food chain rule applies to meat production. Nature doesn't produce millions of animals just to be consummated after living in inhumane conditions. Humans raise so many stock animals that it makes environmental changes- that's not something that would happen in nature.

There are many amazing meatless receipts online. Also, there are special diets that you can order to your door and not think about making a nutritious meal.
Not so long ago, I ate meat a lot, almost every day I had a meal with meat. Now, I still eat meat, but much less. As is mentioned in the video, I do respect it, I know that good products cost more, and the cheaper ones involve some factories to produce it, making animals suffer. I love all animals, but also love meat. It’s hard to choose, if I should stop eating meat. But, If I do, and other people don’t, then meat still will be produced, and nothing will change.
Actually this video did not change my feelings about meat, because I have read about it quite a lot, and it wasn't a surprise for me. I think it’s terrible how we treat animals, and how we make them be products. As is mentioned in the video I think that lab produced meat will be the future, but it’s not easy and it’s not tested enough. But who knows, maybe in just a few years we could start producing meat on a global scale? I’m just curious about the cost of that.
I think that the regulations for livestock production could be more restricted. I’m not an expert and I don’t know the full regulation list, but I believe that there are a lot of inaccuracies that could be fixed to make animals live much better. But in my opinion, before we start producing lab meat, it won’t change that much.

Honestly, meat isn’t my favorite type of food. I don't really like its taste, even if it's good quality and best prepared. I don't define myself as a vegetarian, but I have definitely cut back on meat.

After watching the video, my feelings about eating meat remain the same. We have so many different products to choose from that, after excluding meat, all we need to do is make sure that our meals still provide us with all the necessary nutrients.

The last question is very difficult. As an animal lover, I would be in favor of tighter breeding restrictions. For the sake of our planet, it would also have a positive effect. However, from an economic point of view, this can prove very difficult for people working in that field. Such decisions should be well organized and changes should be implemented gradually.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?
Well, I really enjoy the taste of meat, but with my family, we try to reduce the amount of meat in our lives. Eating large amounts of meat can be really unhealthy. I think I eat meat maybe 4-5 days a week. I do not need to have meat in every meal, but I like eating meat for dinners. However, I know many recipes for vegetarian dinners that are also delicious.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after watching this video?
My feelings have not changed after watching this video. I have decided to reduce the amount of meat some time ago. Moreover, I have seen much more touching videos. I think this video is very good, but when you see nice animations, you approach the topic completely differently. I have seen videos that show animal torment - these videos made me reduce the amount of meat.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?
To be honest, I do not know the regulations for livestock production now, so I have no idea if the regulations should be more restricted. I think if restrictions were introduced, companies would go around it anyway.
1. How often do you eat meat? Do you need to have meat in every meal?

I think I eat meat like 4 days a week but multiple times, it is not equal to eating 4 meals containing meat. I don't need to have meat in every meal. Both of my parents are vegan which is great cause mostly my mother cooks vegan meals so my diet is varied. I think that is good for my organism.

2. Did your feelings about meat change after after watching this video?

No i they didn't. To be honest I knew most of the facts. I have even watched few movies about meat production which showed me some shocking facts. I always try to get meat that is good quality, definately not the cheapest ham or sausages cause those can be really bad for your health. Nowadays if you want to eat meat or fish it is really hard, and expensive, to get high quality meat.

3. Do you think that the regulations for livestock production should be more restricted?

Yes I think so. It is restricted in some way but still, from time to time you can read about some meat farm being closed by the police because of the conditions the animals are living in, therefore the meat being bad quality.
I often eat meat like 7 days per week. I need to have meat in every meal, they are exceptions like salads but everyday at list at once I eat something with meat. Reason for that is I like meat and I don't like vegetables so it's very hard to make food without meat and vegetables.
My feelings about meat don't change after watching this video because I know all of the facts but I don't know any solution for that. We can think about life of chicken but there is no sense. We can try to eat less meat or product synthetic type of meat but at this moment we don't have good substitutes and a lot of people don't want to try it because there are distasteful.
I don't think, first of all we need to make synthetic meat which will be good as real food and have all nutrients and after that we could try to stop kill animals for food.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
