Week 6 [15.04 – 28.04.2019] HUMAN - a grand documentary about what makes us human

The huge film that collected the stories of 2 thousand people from 60 countries of the world may
not answer the question “What makes us human?”, But is the starting point for a dialogue on this topic.

HUMAN was the first movie to premiere at the UN General Assembly, where more than a thousand people watched it. On the day of the premiere, Google launched the film on six YouTube channels with subtitles in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.

A few years ago, the helicopter of an artist and film producer Yann Arthus-Bertrand
(Yann Arthus-Bertrand) crashed in a rural area of Mali. While the repair was going on, Yann spent a day talking to a local farmer about hopes, doubts and values, studying the main issues that
determine his interlocutor's life. “For the first time, I truly learned the life and experiences of
another person,” recalls Artus-Bertrand.

Thus, the idea of the film HUMAN appeared, the creation of which was carried out by
a team of 16 journalists, which interviewed more than 2 thousand people in 60 countries.
Each interview consists of 40 questions covering a range of topics from religion and family
(“When was the last time you said“ I love you ”to your parents?") To ambitions and failures
("Call the most difficult test in your life and what did you learn from him? ”) At the same time,
there is no personal information about the people in the film. This is done on purpose to
highlight the similarity of the 7 billion people living on our planet today.

The film consists of three interwoven components: people, landscapes and traditional music.
We invite you to enjoy the trailer right now.

Have you heard of this movie?

No, I haven't

You watched this films ?

No, I haven't.

How do you feel about such projects?

I think they are good to watch sometimes just to do sort of "benchmarking" of one's self. Sometimes maybe we think that we are outsiders or we do not understand other people and such projects help us understand more of what we are.

Have you come across something like that?

I have come across Yann Arthus Bertrand's project "Earth from Heaven"

Would you like to watch these films completely?

No, I am not a big fan of such movies personally.

I haven't heard about this movie and I didn't watch it completely. When it comes to this type of projects I think they are a good way to show that we are all humans and we are all similar in some way. I havent heard about something like that previously and to be honest I don't like to watch this types of movies so I don't think I will complete one of them.
1. No, I haven’t

2. No, I did not.

3. Currently we have to deal with immigration crisis and terrorism which leads to the increase of intolerance and xenophobe as we put certain nations in the same mixing pot. It is very important to remember than everyone is an individual and we cannot say that if someone is a Muslim, he is a terrorist, or that all black people are criminals and drug dealers. If such projects can prevent us from the desire of revenge on particular collectivities as a reaction to actions of a couple of people, then it should be widely promoted.

4. No, I haven’t ever seen anything similar.

5. Maybe it would be interesting, but to be honest – I can’t imagine myself looking for something like this. I actually think that no one would seek for those films, but the could be played at schools where children would have to watch them.
Have you heard of this movie?
I have never heard about this movie. I think that it might be a great idea in terms of changing people's mind. We need changes in our life and that must be a punchline, i hope it will be. Those type of projects help us to show that we are all humans and it does not matter what god you are praying for or what is your skin color.
Yes, sure, i would like to watch these films.

1. Have you heard of this movie?
I haven't heard about this movie before.
2. You watched this films ?
And so I haven't watched them.
3. How do you feel about such projects?
They are very ambitious and hard projects that talk about hard topics. Not everyone want to face such a deep content but it certainly has it's niche. I appreciate the work put in that kind of projects.
4. Have you come across something like that?
I have come across some similar movies in my high school when our polish teacher used to take us to the cinema to watch that kind of movies which concerned hard topics.
5. Would you like to watch these films completely?
Basically yes as it could be really interesting but to be honest I will probably never watch it.

Have you heard of this movie?
1. I have not heard about this film. even though I watch a lot of this type of production.
You watched this films ?
2. as above.
How do you feel about such projects?
3. Good that someone has so much self-denial to undertake such a project. I think that they are especially good for children when sensitivity is developing. The older man is the more anesthetized and does not impress him so much or he might think about it for an hour and then he forgets.
Have you come across something like that?
4. It depends. On the one hand, I watched many documents about human experiences and thoughts on various heavy subjects, but I have not met this type of format yet
Would you like to watch these films completely?
5. I think that this is above all an interesting material, and that's why I will play it at a convenient time.
I never heard about this film, but i am not a huge movie fan anyway, and thus i never watched it before, and not really planning to. This project sound cool, but i think that personal experience of communiczting with people around the world asking phylosophical questions is much better than watching some megacroporation funded and supported propaganda film. There are plenty of projects like that, you can find hundreds of youtube channels where people travel over the world and show actual life of people on the globe.
Have you heard of this movie?

No, I have not.

You watched this films ?

Nope.

How do you feel about such projects?

I'm not amazed by it, but if there is a something that makes good impact on some group of people then I'm not hateing it.

Have you come across something like that?
Again, nope.

Would you like to watch these films completely?
Nah, not my type of movie.
1. Have you heard of this movie?
No, I haven’t because I’m not interested in documentary movies
2. You watched this films?
Same as above.
3. How do you feel about such projects?
It’s good that they make them. Thank to them we can see thinks from different point of view like new cultures, new style of life.
4. Have you come across something like that?
Well I would say look at point one.
5. Would you like to watch these films completely?
I don’t think so, maybe a few shorter one
It reminded me of an old story about a buddhist, who was asked some question about sense of life or something. He answered with a counter-question: "Tell me, who you are?" The journalist replied with his name. "No, that is how everybody calls you, because you tell them so. But, who are you?" Then the journalist replied, that he is, in fact, journalist. "No, that is a mere profession. But what is really you?" Then journalist implied that he is a male, Homo Sapiens, American, and so on. The answers were predictable: "That is a gender, a species and nationality. It does not tell anything about YOU". The answer was that he is simply a human.

I guess, I, as a highly scientific person, would stick to the species. Homo sapiens -- if you belong to this breed, then you are a human. False otherwise.
1. Have you heard of this movie?

No, I haven't because I am not a big phan of documentary movies.

2. You watched this films ?

No, I haven't.

3. How do you feel about such projects?

I think, that's a nice try to show, that all over our planet lives a lot of people, with different thoughts, ways to live and culture.

4. Have you come across something like that?

No.

5. Would you like to watch these films completely?

I am not sure, probably yes, but I should be in an appropriate mood for this film.

I know this photographer. Specifically, this film did not look, but saw him very popular documentary which he directed with Luc Besson, "Home" in 2009. It was banned in 36 countries. I recommend seeing it.

3.How do you feel about such projects?
These are very difficult projects to perceive. Beautiful and complex.

4.Have you come across something like that?
Probably "A Thirsty World"

5.Would you like to watch these films completely?
I'm not sure that I will watch, it is hard for me to realize that everything is so bad and people are to blame for this.

I didn't hear about this movie, but it seems to me that I was watching something similar. The project seems to be interesting. Seeing so many different faces and views, ideas of the world in one movie are very constructive. Above all, beautiful pictures in the film cause that you want to watch it. And the desire to know the point of view of different people is also encouraging. I think I will be happy to see the whole movie.

5.Would you like to watch these films completely?
Right now, i have no time for that, but maybe in the future, will see
I heard about this movie before. And of course I watched it. This is a very strong movie. This film shows that we, the people, have very similar problems. But I will say one thing, looking at the problem from the side will not change anything, you need to go through yourself to understand it. I am very impressed with people! People are amazing creatures. For such projects, I am very positive, because this helps us understand each other. I am sure that this film has helped more than one person to go forward with his head held high. I closely watch such projects and support them in every way. Soit remember that we are all people, and only together we can all.
I don't think movies as such can answer philosophical question which bothers humanity since ancient times. Every person will have different opinion about this. What does it even mean to be human? To be born, get by and die or something else? Does someone else needs to tell me what makes me human? Why we need to 'be human' at all? There are a lot of questions that cannot be simply answered.
I have not heard about this film and I am not a fan of such projects. I do not understand the message of such projects. In my opinion, such films focus on showing the defects of our world and they want to show that something is wrong in it. In order to achieve something, something needs to be sacrificed and I am not sure if the authors of such films understand this.
Yes, I heard about this movie and wanted to watch it. Unfortunately, I totally forgot about that film. I think this is a great project which shows us that all we are different , but we have same values. Such projects show us the philosophy of being, philosophy which is somehow different with countries and nations, but the core is the same. I'm not very philosophical person and don't like to spend a lot of time on thinking about questions I will never get answer on. I am sure that someday I will watch that film.

I may find it interesting and very often I promise myself that someday I will watch but in the end it rarely happens.

1. You watched this films ?
Yes, I have seen this movie when I was traveling on a plane. It is very moving and inspiring. It may seem like a boring film idea to listen to ordinary people, but actually, their unique stories make it amazing.
2. How do you feel about such projects?
It is such a great idea – to listen to each other. Every person has a unique story and a lot of interesting things to say that may surprise us.

3. Have you come across something like that?
Yes, I have seen the movie. I don’t remember why I picked it, but I watched it during a long flight and it was very moving.
4. Would you like to watch these films completely?
I don’t really understand. Is there more than one movie like that? Is it a series?
1. No, I was not interested in this topic.
2. No, I did not watch.
3. They can give us interesting information but I do not know if they are worth the price.
4. I do not remember.
5. No, I'm not interested in this topic enough.
To my regret, I have not heard of this movie before. As usual, I watch a simpler movie, although, sometimes like to add documentary videos to the playlist. The information in this article and the trailer were very inspiring. I feel an urgent need to watch this movie. I watched several similar projects and I think, that such movies should produce more in our time. This film allows us to show the multiculturalism of our planet. Show the differences, but also emphasize that we are all similar.

No I haven’t.

I had never heard of this movie before.

It is quite ambitious project. I think those kinds of movies should be show in classrooms. Sometimes we forgot that we are not really different, but everyone have different aspirations. It's good to remind of this.

Unfortunately i don't.

They seems to be very interesting, but it’s not my type of a movie.

No, not a big deal

You watched this films ?
Trailer was quite inviting, so I tried to watch it. And I stopped after 5 min. Very annoying.

How do you feel about such projects?
Feel that I have nothing in common with some people.

Have you come across something like that?
In my primary schoold when teachers were trying to fill us with stuff that we didnt like.

Would you like to watch these films completely?
Not at all
Have you heard of this movie?
No, i haven't heard aboute this movie.

You watched this films ?
No, i haven't seen it before, until now.

How do you feel about such projects?
I like the idea of this film, to show in short time so many deferent life aspect, it's nice to see that around the globe people have the same feels. Everyone feel love, sad, scerd etc. I think this is the anwser for the question what make us human.

Have you come across something like that?
I've seen several photographic series once. The most memorable in my mind were those that showed houses of people around the world, and a series in which children from different regions of the world boasted about their toys.
It is very touching how different the requirements for life are in different places in the world, and what we call happiness.

Would you like to watch these films completely?
Definitly yes, these films are very emotional and opening people to the needs of others. They give much to thinking, maybe the world would become more empathetic under the influence of such films.
1. Nope.

2. Nah, not my movies type.

3. I think idea of movies like this is very good. We are humans. We have efeelings, our being, emotions... This makes us human and it is worth making others aware.

4. Nope, I haven't come across something like that.

5. As I said above, I do not like these movies and I do not think I would watch one.
1. I haven't.

2. I haven't.

3. They seems to be really innovative and fresh. These interviews segregated and placed in easily searchable website could provide a valuable source about population all over the world. Also, it may prove to be a strong weapon against racism and xenophobia. It shows the real nature of ordinary people from all foreign nations and points out that are similar to us.

4. I haven't

5. 2 thousand interviews is an overwhelming stream of content. I would like to watch some of them, especially those from the best developed countries and from those totally poor, just to see if there are so many differences or not.
Nope, your presentation is my first time hearing about this movie I also didn't watch this films but trailer seems interesting so I think that this might be my next movie to watch. In my opinion projects that encourage us to get to know other nations and their ways of thinking are one of the most importing things in developing proper moral behaviors but they should be promoted in better way maybe even explain for public by appropriate individuals who are bone up to tolerance. I think I watch similar movies in the Kopernik muzeum but they tend to focus bad behaviors that appears all over the world and strike ethnic minority.
1. I have but I’m very glad to be reminded.
2. Unfortunately not, but I would love to.
3. They deserve recognition. They may not bring about global understanding but they certainly take the right steps. If we want peace we need understanding and if we want anything we should saturate our popular culture with it, because right now it’s rising our children. Well not my per say, I don’t have any, but you get the idea.
4. It’s not uncommon for films to be non-fiction. The scale is what sets this one apart.
5. I will probably skim through them.
Have you heard of this movie?
1. I have not heard about this movie but I read about this topic on newspapers or articles on internet, this is very curious.
You watched this films ?
2. as above.
How do you feel about such projects?
3. I think that this is very good idea and I think that the best group of receivers are childrens
Have you come across something like that?
4. Like I said I read about it in newspapers or articles but it was only something like that, nothink more.
Would you like to watch these films completely?
5. I think that this is very interesting and valuable to watch but I prefere now other topics , I don't have too much time now for me so I prefere to sucrifice it for other things.
1. Have you heard of this movie?
I have heard about this movie but unfortunately I haven’t watched it.

2. You watched this films ?
As I stated above I haven’t watched this movie.

3. How do you feel about such projects?
I think that’s very difficult topic, and I like that someone is trying to show some broader perspective about it to mass media.

4. Have you come across something like that?
I haven’t come across anything like that.

5. Would you like to watch these films completely?
Yeah, I’ll probably watch it, because I like documentaries.

I have not heard about this film.

I have seen several films of this type on the Discovery Channel. This is one of the problems of humanity.

Such films are on the one hand coolly made, but it is about human suffering. I do not like that kind of movies.

I did not come across something like that.

It seems to me that I am not interested in this subject enough to watch such films in their entirety. fragments are already too much.

I am sorry that I am writing this answer so late
1. No.
2. No.
3. A lot of movies portray what's bad about the humankind, such projects show the good side and that's equally important.
4. Never anything exactly like this, I've seen many social projects, but this one seems to be on a bigger scale and focused more on who we are.
5. I wouldn't mind watching it.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
