week 12: Love is all around

It seems to me that everyone has a tradition of doing some special things with friends just before Christmas, like meeting to have a herring, looking for presents, going skating or cooking Christmas’ specialties. In my case, we are baking gingerbread, drinking mulled wine and watching „Love Actually”.

„Love Actually” is a typical British romantic comedy about the time before Christmas. It consists of ten stories about love. The main characters experience the power of love: the joy of being in mutual love or the despair of hopeless love, or the feeling of loneliness. The story proves that love leads our life. The movie is on the list of movies, I believe, that must be seen before Christmas. It makes me laugh to tears, especially dancing Hugh Grant. It evokes deep emotions. The movie’s soundtrack is also amazing. The song „Christmas all around” is really cool! But remember, you need to see the movie to fully enjoy it.

An interesting fact is that the airport footage was made at Heathrow. A team of cameramen spent a week there. They filmed some real reuniting of families, friends and lovers. “Love Actually” was the most often rented DVD in the UK in 2004. And do you know how many times they said: “actually” in the movie? Well… twenty-two times! If you like to read about more surprising facts, you can find them here:

I also recommend doing the test „Which Love Actually character are you?” I did the test and to my big surprise it turned out that I was Natalie. Each character in the movie is positive, so don’t worry about a score J

I have found a funny trailer of “Love Actually 2”. The trailer was made as a joke, since there is no sequel, unfortunately.

“Love Actually” is a wonderful and cheerful movie. It teaches us that both failures and successes are needed to fully understand life. Everyone has his or her own path in which there are happy and sad moments, but it is our life and that what really matters.
The movie helps to forget about problems and makes people happy, so it is perfect for the time before Christmas. In today’s world, full of indifference to feelings, the movie is like a beautiful pearl waiting to be found…

What special things do you usually do before Christmas?

Have you ever watched the movie “Love Actually”? If so, what do you think about it? Which Love Actually character were you in the test?

Do you think they should make a sequel?

Since last few years I use a Christmas season to do projects for test’s in academy (especially nowadays on the fourth year of study on Interior Design). Of course I helping in preparing to Xmas too.
I’m not a person who likes boisterous parties and I rather prefer in that time walk through snowy alleys and takes photos. Unfortunately the weather is variable and we don’t have any snowfall this time.
Yes, I’ve watched this movie last year (I remember, it was broadcasted on Christmas). The first thing which I saw was showed (like on tray) many of personalities before Xmas of different people from different social backgrounds. Movie present us behaviors and perplexities and also amuse us (e.g. scene when Rowan Atkinson plays vendor who is packing a gift for one of main character). If they should make next episode? I think it would be too much similar to first movie and predictable.

Usually before Christmas I buy gifts. This the only thing which I do always each year. Other things like cooking, decorating a Christmas tree depend of availability of me, my family and friends. I haven’t watched the movie but you convinced me and I plan to do that :) Difficult to say something about sequel without watching first release so please tell me what do you think? What can I say about Love Actually 2 – Trailer Parody. I see scenes from The Walking Dead, one of my favorites television series but if they plan to include such scenes in the sequel I am not sure whether it would be good to watch before Christmas :)
Special things before Christmas? That's a funny question. I don't think I do anything special before Christmas. I mean, I buy presents for people, I help preparing for Christmas eve, but that's all normal, right? Maybe one thing is that during Christmas my Italian family comes to visit and I usually have about 20 people going around the house for a few days. I'm sure some people might find this "special" :P.
Unfortunately I haven't seen the movie, haven't even heard about it so not much I can say there. But I might just watch it this Christmas!

Nothing realy special... Of course I buy presents and I help making these christmas meals, but that is all. I haven't, I don't like love stories movies and christmas movies so this one especially not for me. Maybe this one is "special" and different from others so probably I will give it chance :) About a sequel, sometimes it is better to live story and not make any other movies just to make more money. Movies should be someting "finished" it is not serial. In my opinin many produces forgets about this.
I don’t do nothing special for Christmas. Nothing out of the ordinary. Buying presents, cleaning the house more precisely that usual, and spending hours in the kitchen helping my partner in preparing of those delicious meals that I’m a big fan of. But I like Christmas (thank god that in Poland we don’t have to be politically correct ad say Holidays). I have more time to spend with my family and my little son just love decorating the Christmas tree. Something special I try to do in the New Years Eve. Every year we use to go somewhere outside Warsaw and spend this special night in some interesting place.

As for the move I can’t tell anything because I haven’t seen it , so naturally I don’t have an opinion about them making a sequel.

As suprising as it may seem, I haven’t watched the movie. Dozens of such comedies appear on television during Christmas. It’d like to think this one is different but some of the actors are the same. I watched the trailer and it looks just like every other trailer. It has a narrator with a warming voice, catchy music and a few funny moments put in.
My family doesn’t usually do anything special. We all just travel home and talk about our lives a bit, eat and watch comedies on television :)

Actually despite buying presents, I don't have any special thigs that I do before Christmas. I didn't watch this moovie, I rather watch other type of moovies, than romantic comedy. In the test my result is "Spider-Man". According to the test, I'm a unique gem of a human and I should never change. I didn't watch the moovie, so I can;t say if they should make a sequel, but as I said, I'm not a fan of romantic comedies.

Time before christmas is perfect for cleannig and shoping madness. Presents for family and friends, only good one, re the thing that makes me happy. I love to make people, who are important for me, happy. On the other hand there is cleanning time. I hate cleaning. Useless work, because I will make a mess soon. As for the movie, i haven't seen it. I haven't even heard about it. But ther eis always a chance

You will now hate me, because I don't really long for Christmas. To me Xmas changed into cleaning, shopping and cooking and all that madness, which ends with 1-2h dinner. To me Christmas lost its magic. The only magical thing for me is another screening of Home Alone (Kevin!).
I never saw the movie and I don't really want to. I don't like romantic comedies, cause they are stupid and make you cry... which I don't do.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
