Week 12 [12-18.06.2017] UBER

What is Uber?

Uber is American company which produced car application. It is application which connects people who look for a car with people who offer transport. In different countries firm operates in different ways. In some countries company is legal in other countries it is half legal and in others it is illegal.

When you want to be Uber driver you :
-can't be convicted
-must have car
-must get document from police with information about your offenses
-sometimes you must go to an interview

How much you earn depends on how much you drive. In Poland Uber develops the fastest. Uber driver in Poland earns about 2000-4000zl. Drivers who work for Uber are happy because they don't have to pay for ZUS or taxi comapny. Taxi drivers must pay it.

Of course Uber operates only in the biggest cities. But this application and it's range develop very fast so in the future we will be able to use it in most Polish cities. I think this is good information.

Car isn't the most important thing. It is mobile phone. You must have smartphone with Android or iOS.when you are a client after you install application you start getting information about people who look for clients. Uber drivers can accept or reject your order.

You don't have to have money with you. Uber is conected with your bank account. Uber is a bit controversial. In fact it is not registered so it is not totally legal. Uber drivers don't have to know streets in the cities where they drive. They don't have any licence.

You can see that Uber is good solution but not everybody thinks so. Taxi drivers and taxi companies complain because they lose clients.

Personaly I use Uber and I can't imagine using a normal taxi. I live in Łomianki which is far from everywhere. When I go from Mokotów to Łomianki at night I pay 40 zl for it. It is 30 km and second
zone so for normal taxi I would pay 3 times more.

Question:
Do you use Uber?
Do you think that Uber should be illegal? If yes why?
Are you like me and you can't imagine using normal taxi?

I have really mixed feelings when it comes to using Uber. Drivers who work for Uber are happy because they don't have to pay for ZUS or taxi company - it is not a good thing because everyone should have the same fixed costs. I also don't like the classic taxi's because I never know how much will I pay for my ride. Currently I'm using MyTaxi because it in the middle of what Uber and classic Taxi offers. They also have much promotions like -50% many weeks of the years so it's a good one. You can also make a complain if some driver had bad attitude or made a wrong and too long trip instead of normal one. Their APP is very similar to Uber - check it out.

Yes, I use uber. First time I used it when I was going back home from Warsaw (abou 40km) and I had got a code with 50% discount for two rides - and I loved it. And I still like it
1) Much cheaper - I live far away from Warsaw and going home by night may be expensive. With taxi I paid over 200zł, and with uber (after night fare) 80, 80some zł, so there is great difference
2) uber is cashless, so am I. There is no chance that driver will deceive me, that some money will fall or that there will be a problem with paying (when I got home with taxi I hadn't got enough money, so I had to go home and get back, and my ride rocketed for about 5zł!)
3) clean cars
4) you know who you'll be riding with
5) you can easily check your route
6) you're getting all of the information on e-mail
7) you can give a feedback, which matters (too much low grades and driver can't drive for uber)
8) you see when and where is "your" car

I'm using taxis only in Swinoujscie, where they are SO cheap, that there is nothing to think about - just get it. Here, in Warsaw and nearby - I don't think so
I've never used Uber, so it is hard to say something about it. All my friends who are using Uber are very satified. So I think Uber works fine for clients, but for sure it needs some law regulations because of all of these controversies - something is not right, if in one country Uber is legal and in the other it is not.

There are two sides to Uber, a bright one and dark one of course.
A bright one is that Uber is a new quality, technologically advanced and the whole idea of simplicity connected with the ease of use is why it is so successful. Compared to an average taxi service an average customer will always choose Uber. The comfort (not only with Uber premium), friendly drivers, cashless transaction, hop in, hop out, all operated from within a smartphone? Please giv.
A dark one is that Uber is operating as an unfair competition. No need to have a licence, not paying ZUS or other taxes at all? (I'd like to remind we all depend on taxes being paid). Spying on it's drivers and users? That's a really shady side people most often overlook. The case of not paying taxes I blame on our medieval tax-law which falls behind developing technology more and more.
So yeah, Uber is a great as an idea but has many things on its conscience.
Can't say it should be illegal because is it? officially? What about those cases when Uber drivers were stopped by GITD and asked for a permission for "przewóz ludzi" or something like that, and charged with fines for lacking it. I've overheard about it on the radio. Uber is illegal in many countries around the world, european for example Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary and most recently Italy.

I've never used Uber and I probably never will. I would rather trust a taxi driver who is working on contract, and if something happens the car has it's own number (not the license plate). And using Uber - entering some random car would be equally safe.
If people want to use Uber I'm okay with it, why would I want to stop people from using it just because I don't want to? It just need some basic regulations to be fair competition for taxi drivers. And to be safer for people using it.

Yes I use Uber and I like this idea. It's great that you can follow the driver who has to come to you with the application and this makes it harder for the driver to deceive you if you see the route on the map on the phone. The app is well designed and easy to use. Uber is cheaper than normal taxi and faster. I think it should be legal, because it's our choice whether we will use it or not. I sometimes use normal taxis, but I usually don't feel safer than moving by uber.

I use Uber and I am happy that it exists. Sometimes you just have to reach the place really quick, or you have tons of luggage, or you are too tired to use the bus. Whom you gonna call? Uber. One of it's advantage is application - you don't have to announce to everyone that you have to go out and call a taxi, you just pick your address and wait, watching your car is getting closer. The price is cheaper, sometimes you could chat with interesting people, no need to have cash - definitely, I choose Uber. Now they also invented Uber Eats, but I didn't try it, because I love to cook. But for busy people it is very useful, I guess.

Personally I have never been using Uber. I don't live in Warsaw and in my city, there is nothing like Uber. I'm doomed to use regular Taxi, which is very expensive.
I don't think that Uber should be illegal. I think it's a great alternative way to travel without spending a fortune for Taxi.

I do use Uber quite often and I have never had any bad experience. All drivers I met were super nice; the drive was safe and the cars clean. Unfortunately this is not always the case with taxi companies. They tend to overcharge tourists by taking longer routes, the drivers are boorish and the cars are not always in the best condition. Obviously we can find good and bad drivers here and there but in my opinion Uber outperforms traditional taxis.

I use uber from time to time. In Warsaw it's easiest, fastest and cheapest way to travel. Main advantage is app - you don't have to call driver and cars are always nice and clean.
Uber should be legal, I won't use taxi again.

So i use uber. It is much cheaper than taxis and above all modern. You do not have to have cash. Of course the uber should be legal.

I used UBER only in USA and I really loved it. Firstly, because it was cheaper than a taxi, I was amused at a low price, even comparing prices to the ones in Poland. Secondly, it took really short time to have it hailed. Moreover, it was widely available even in a small town in USA so I shouldn't have worried that there won't be any uber driver at the specific time and location I wanted him/her to be.
I use Uber from time to time.I liked that you don't need have to cash and that you know who you'll be riding with. But will be honest, the most advantage for me is that it is cheaper than taxis:)

I used Uber and my friends too. As many people here, the most attractive in using Uber is price. I heard about doubts if Uber's drivers pay taxes to polish government, but it's capitalism, everyone seek the cheapest and most comfortable things. Someone told me as additional argument against taxis that taxi's driver are often rude. I agree that Uber should be legal, because here we have free economy.
I use uber sometimes. It's much cheaper than taxi, you know what you are paying for, because in taxi you pay after the whole drive and you don't know which way the taxi driver will go so prices are different each time, in uber you know how much you need to pay to get where you want. I don't think that uber should be illegal, government should make changes in law to make uber legal or make uber change something, not just say it's illegal. I think that paying in advance is better than that driver should have cash register. Of course uber drivers should have some test or permissions to transport people but it should be easier to get.

I use uber and think it's perfect solution. As Lukasz said - it is much cheaper than taxi and in my opinion it's the most important thing in such type of service (of course, apart from safe, but uber is as safe as taxi).
What's more, the last taxi driver's protest made me sure, I won't use taxi if it isn't necessary. I agree with most of my colleagues - by doing this, taxi drivers made a free advertisement for uber and the same time lost people's trust. :)
As a customer - I love uber as it provides really cheap taxi, you can't really ask for much more. As a person, I can totally see why uber is "bad" for economy, since all taxi drivers should have fixed taxes and not being allowed to skip them through one way and not the other way.

However, I'm not taxi company, so personally I love the possibility to use uber.
Yes I use Uber. For me it is a better alternative to Taxi. I order a driver via application to my location, I get in the car, drive and leave and whole payment happens automatically. It is a very comfortable solution for me. To be honest, I'm not intrested in legitimacy of Uber. As a passenger it is a way better solution than classic taxi.
I used Uber only once with my friends, when we were returning home from a party. It cost us almost nothing, comparing to regular taxi. I don't see any reason why Uber should be illegal. It would be great, if we could rate the regular taxi drivers. I avoid using this kind of transport, because it is still to
expensive for me.

No I have not use Uber yet. for my this idea is great. It is very similar to airbnb or blablacar what I like I hope that it will be more apps like this. The only objections is that it is not polish company and money are not staying in Poland. But besides that I would prefer Uber more than normal taxi. Because of the price and mobility.
I use Uber quite often, but I also use taxis sometimes. Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know this sentence “Drivers who work for Uber are happy because they don't have to pay for ZUS or taxi company” is not true. Uber drivers have to register a business and pay taxes and ZUS. I’ve read about it some time ago and I’ve talked with many uber drivers and they confirmed this information. In my opinion it’s ridiculous that some people want to make uber illegal. It’s your personal choice who do you want to drive with, for many people it is not a problem that the driver doesn’t have a licence or periodic examinations. Uber drivers have also less privileges than regular taxi drivers, e.g. they are not allowed to use bus lanes. Both uber and taxis has their pros and cons and you should be free to decide for yourself. What is more, companies like uber enhance competition.
Yes , a couple of times when were coming home late from friends , or when returning from the station.

I think you should as it is a great alternative to conventional taxis , as Uber is much cheaper and sometimes the quality of service and machines much better.

Yes, I think that Uber is so convenient , useful and cheap service that once you try you will be very difficult to abandon it.

I'm in the same boat, I was sceptical about Uber and didn't quite understand how it works - I though that it's just an app for existing taxi business. I used it once and now I use it all the time, you just press 1 button instead of calling, telling your mobile number, waiting for the car details and expected time etc. Also rating system keeps only decent cars and polite drivers.

I think that P2P economy is a part of the public service evolution and it should not be forbidden, moreover it's impossible to fully forbid these services.

I'm using Uber and I love it. This is a pure free market. I don't need a driver with license. I don't need a driver who sleeps 12 hours in a day, etc. I need a cheap driver. And with Uber I can have a cheap driver.

1) Do you use Uber? Yes, I've been using Uber a few times but it's not necessary for me.

2) Do you think that Uber should be illegal? If yes why? I have no opinion about it. I have no enough knowledge how does it work, what about taxes, etc.

3) Are you like me and you can't imagine using normal taxi? No, I can imagine that I'm using normal taxi but I'm sure that User is much cheaper than usual taxi.
I use Uber almost every week. Is is very cheap and comfortable. Of course it shouldn't be illegal. I will never use regular taxi again. Not because this war that taxi drivers have with Uber, but regular taxi drivers are dishonest, expensive and rude.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
