Week 11 [05.06-11.06.2017] House of Cards

House of Cards

Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors in Hollywood. His role in American Beauty was unbelievable. He gained for this role Oscar's Award. He has 9/10 rating on Filmweb.

I think that everyone has watched Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club :) David Fincher, who has been the director of this movie is on top 4 best directors ever.

Joel Schumacher, who has been the director of Falling Down (starring Michael Douglas), Jodie Foster (the main role in Silence of the Lambs) and Agnieszka Holland.

All of them are the creators of one of the best series ever - House of Cards.

House of Cards is first original TV series made by Netflix. Thanks to the success of this series many others Netflix’s productions have been created like Narcos or The Crown. Netflix released all of its episodes of a new season at once, which was something fresh. The main character - Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is a congressman, who wants only power. Like he said: “Money is the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after ten years, power is the old stone building that stands for centuries. I cannot respect someone who does not see the difference.”

He will do everything to become the president of the United States of America. Hand in hand with his wife Claire Underwood (Robin Wright, she played in Forest Gump) eliminate all enemies who will try to stop them.

On May 30 Netflix released a new season of the House of Cards. “The American people don't know what's best for them.... I do” - these are the first words Frank Underwood speaks in the official trailer of Season 5. We will see fight for power at a much higher level than in Poland :)

I would highly recommend watching it. House of Cards keeps you in suspense. It is unpredictable. Amazing acting. You must watch it before the session :D

1.         Have you seen House of Cards? If not, do you like movies with Kevin Spacey?
2.         Are you interested in politics? Why? Why not?
3.         What is your favorite series?

Actually I have never watched that series in spite of Filmweb keeps recommending me it.
I'm not a fan of politics. Actually I hate that topic of conversation. When someone starts talking about it I just go away, because I have nothing to say about it. I think that politics is the most boring topic and I don't understand why people are interested in it.
My favourite series is for sure Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch. But I also enjoyed watching Narcos, Orange is the new Black and Black Mirror. I recommend all of those series.

Yes of course I have seen "House of Card" but only first season and half of second. I have to finish watching it especially that I have all seasons on DVD. I have always liked Kevin Spacey. Of course I'm interested in politics like everyone after alcohol. People who work in Amercian politics are good topic for TV series. I think that in this whole story there is a little truth.
My favorite series are Breking Bed, Fargo , Vikings, GOT, Tabu and more

I'm not a fan of TV series and have never watched any. For me it's a waste of time (even though I know some of them may be really interesting). For that reason I don't have my favourite series.
I'm also not a fan of politics. I know something about it, the current situation in Poland, but I don't like discussing it.
I have seen "Hous of Cards", but it took me sometime before I started watching it. I thought you could not do a good show about politics, I was wrong. I am looking forward to the new season!
My favorite series are Vikings, Tabu and Supernatural (it has 12 seasons, but still I can't stop watching it :P)

I have never seen any of the episodes, but I have heard that this series is a good one. Once, when I was in a train and there was a great poster of this series boy said to his girl "You see honey, this is series we will be watching at nights" what I believe is the best recommendation

I just finished the first season of House of Cards and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I have to say, there were so many times I smiled, laughed. It really is a quality drama. The only thing I would say is that if you don't understand or aren't interested in politics, this isn't the right TV series for you.
1. Have you seen House of Cards? If not, do you like movies with Kevin Spacey?
Yes I have seen two or three episodes. Liked Kevin Spacey and his serial wife they make a great sociopaths duo - they are not normal, that is for sure:) But sorry politics - tricks, back stabbing of the opponents is really not for me - it is everyday day fight and usually not a fair and clean one. Recently watched Nine Lives with him and liked it very much - good connection of his character and proper movie to watch with a child.

2. Are you interested in politics? Why? Why not?
I am on the daily basis with it to know what is going on - but hate to watch people fighting all the time, showing off, instead of doing something good together - but that is life thuh.
3. What is your favorite series?
Mentalist is a good criminal type one for me with a nice plot. Breaking Bad shows what you can do when you are on the edge and Narcos how Pablo Escobar ruled the world with his confidency.

I like Kevin Spacey, althought I can hardly remember those today, "Pay it forward" and K-PAX (luv it) are great movies which I know him from. No, I have not seen House of cards even despite Kevin playing there. No plan on doing so either, I hate politics and have it enought on a daily basis. Unfortunately.

I have watched all fo the seasons of House of Cards, including the newest one - took me a weekend to do so :-).
I think the roles that Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright play are spectacular. To me this series is interesting especially in terms of the politics and what is behind the politics, so all of the tough decisions and choices the politicians have to make. Obviously, it may be exaggerated, but still it reveals how tough player one must be and thick skin must have in order to be able to achieve something regardless of the circumstances.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, since I didn't expect to really get into a show about the intricacies of politics, but I really did love the show. I also liked Breaking Bad a lot, so if you enjoyed the interpersonal drama of BB, give HoC a chance.
I was initially put off by the way Kevin Spacey occasionally talks directly to the camera, but by the end of the first season, I found that I actually appreciated the way these scenes were done. I'd suggest checking it out. Worst case scenario, you sit through a few episodes and decide you don't like it.

I'm not interested in politics, it's not that I'm total ignorant in this field but Polish politics now is something I don't like to read. I know that House of cards is a very popular series, but unfortunately lately I didn't have much time to watch TV series, anyway definitely I will see it because my friends told me a lot of good about this and because all the movies I saw with Kevin Spacey were really nice :) My favorite series are Game of Throne and Suits.

I am not interested in politics at all, and I was sceptical about this series. But just recently I have started watching House of Cards, and man, it is really good! I liked it from the very first episode. It is all about politics but it's showed in some really interesting way. Almost like in Game of Thrones...almost. :) I really like the play of Kevin Spacey. He is good, no doubt. I can't wait until I see the next episode!

I didn't watch House of Card, because I am not interested in politics topic. I don't have enough time to be up to date with all the things, which are happening everyday.
The best series I have watched so far was Narcos, because I like old style movies and factual ones.

Some time ago I tried watching the first episode and fell asleep. Then I made the second attempt and ended up watching 4 seasons in 4 days:) These series are just awesome. I'm sure that it's creators studied the topic well, talked to many politics and it should be pretty similar to how politics works from the inside, I don't mean events you see on the news. That's why I'm not interested in politics, if you read the news you see the results or some small details allowed to be revealed to the public, you never know how it really worked out and it's not really interesting.

Yesterday I finished Series 5 and I love it! In my opinion it's one of the best tv series ever made. Kevin Spacey as a Frank Underwood is absolutely amazing and obviously he won Golden Globe Award in 2015.
Yeah I heard about it but also unfortunately not looked , I saw couple of movies with him playing one of the main characters , I liked the movie Twenty one.

No, not interested in politics , because I think that this show (like many similar series about politics) shows that politics is a dirty game of politicians for any your benefits.

I recently watched the excellent TV series "Westworld" and "American gods" , "son". Ate we talking about the TV series with a political context not long ago ended a season of "Last candidate", he is also quite not bad.

I never seen "House of Cards", but many of my friends recommended it to me. I love movies with Kevin Spacey, he is a great actor, one of my favorite is "Seven", where he plays. I'm not interested in politics, because it is based to humiliate the opposition, not make citizens life better. I don't have my favorite series, but recently I watched "The True Detective", and the first season was magnificent.
I haven't seen House of Cards, but I respect Kevin Spacey for his other roles. I'm not interested in politics, because it gives me a headeche when I have an occasion to watch our polish politics. My favourite series is Star Trek.

Oh I love Kevin Spacey after The American Beauty. I also watched some other movies with him, I think he is one of the best actors! I will definitely watch House of Cards. I'm not a big fan of politics, but Kevin and all those intrigues around him and his family, I think it should be an unbelievable tv show!
I heard about that series, and I also heard a lot of positive opinions about that, I even wanted to watch it at some point but I have so huge movies backlog that it won't probably happen anytime soon, since I watch movies rarily and if I do, I prefer fixed 1.30h movies rather than long series.

But thank you for giving me a few more reasons to take a closer look :).

I'm not especially interested in politics, I rather try to avoid this tricky topic, which may led to certain disagreements.
Unfortunately, I haven't had time yet to see House of carts series, however it's number 1 on my "to watch" list just after session.
I love "House of Cards". This is one of my favourite show. I'm so glad that lately they have released a new season. I just couldn't wait any longer. I think Kevin Spacey is amazing in it. Really. Good job. Personally, I'm not so interested in politics. I really enjoy the plot of this TV series but I don't think this is so fascinating in real life. So I just stick with fiction. I don't think I have my favourite series, they are all great.

I have heard so much about that series, so one day I decided to give up and try watching it. But, to tell the truth, it didn't excite me at all, maybe because I expected to much, I don't know. When I watch series for me it is important to find the favorite hero, but even if I like the great Kevin Spacey, his character made me feel.. nothing. So I lost my interest and forgot about it. My favorite series are Breaking Bad. It is still my number one. It fell in love with it since the first minutes of the pilot episode. Also I love GoT, The Bridge and Fargo.
About politics - I am not into it, maybe that is why I didn't fell for House of Cards. But I try to get the last news, just to orient in the situation around me.

"Of course I'm interested in politics like everyone after alcohol." Hahaha yeah we are! But look, even Wyspiański noted this in Wesele. And he wrote Wesele more than 100 years ago. I think our problem is that we are interested in politics after alcohol, but we don't go to elections... Thanks for your comment!

Yeah, I finished series 5 after three days after the premiere. This is one of the best series I've been watched. Thanks for your comment! Underwood 2016! :D

No, I haven’t watch “House of Cards” but I would like to watch it after session. I was curious because I heard many good opinions about this TV series and also recently was released a new season. That’s why I can’t wait for it. I have good experience with Netflix so far. I have watched three productions of them and I can say that there was my best TV series which I saw ever.
At the beginning I was not interested in “House of Cards” because for me the plot seemed to be boring.

House of Cards is one of my favorite series. I love the actors playing the leading roles - Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. I think they're great. The series is really well made, manages to hold my attention and keep the tension high. I think Breaking Bad is still my number one series but House of Cards is right behind it. I already started watching the latest, fifth season . Unfortunately I only had time to watch two first episodes. I recommend this series to everyone, even people who are not interested in politics.

I have heard about Hous of Cards but i haven't watched it. I simply am not interested in politics because i believe it to be one big swamp. It's foggy, stinky and once you are in you may never come back. Though i heard that it's one of best series i prefer series like Vikings or Spartacus.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
