Week 1 (05.10 - 11.10) Syrian Immigrants

Today one of the most interesting topics presented and discussed by the media is immigration to Europe. This topic should be relevant to each and every citizen of the European Union, because migration of people from outside of Europe is increasing every year. Currently one of the biggest migration problems is migration from Syria. Below you can see how many people migrating from Syria to Europe were detected on borders of different countries.

As you can see the total number of detections has increased dramatically since 2014 from 7,431 to 56,766 and it will be higher probably in the next year.

Below you can see how immigrants will be distributed in European countries according to Jean-Claude Junker, current European Commission President. Junker’s distribution quotas are based on wealth of destination countries. According to this plan, every country of the European Union will have to take immigrants into its country under the threat of penalty of 0.002% of its own budget. Not every country of EU wants to accept Junker’s plan, which is causing division in EU.

As you can see the quota in May 2015 was a the level of 40 thousand migrants and only after 5 months it was increased to 120 thousands, which is a really big problem for the EU government. We should not be only focused on the big number of people, because more important is how those people will be able to assimilate. Most of the immigrants are young Muslim men (around 80-90%), which may cause a really big problem for local people, because usually those kind of people don't want to assimilate. Every country, which takes immigrants will have to ensure work, food and shelter for every immigrant, which will also be expensive for them. This problem is probably one of the most difficult problems for EU and it will have a big influence on the future of Europe.

If you want to learn something more about this topic, I would recommend watching Mariusz Max Kolonko’s movie .

First of all I truly regret that both your articles are pretty much the same. I know that most people here won’t agree with me (I count on Patrycja in that matter;) ) and actually I’m pretty tired of hearing about the “Muslim problem”. Anyway I will try to split my answer in two.

Secondly I would like to recommend two links, I don’t really trust all the information that is shown in media or in social media, because I feel like people are getting to much into the topic while they can’t be sure if the footage is true or what was the actual situation. A lot of videos are just about fear mongering or shown out of context.

The first link is a really cool animation that I like. It talks about the refuges in a clear, easy way. I think it’s worth watching if somebody is interested to see the other side of the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvOnXh3NN9w

And here is another animation from the same channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQPlREDW-Ro

The second link I would like to show you (I know it’s actually the third ;) ) is a polish article (sorry about that) that I also really like and I think it pretty much shows my approach:
http://jasonhunt.pl/kwestia-uchodzcow-miedzy-sumieniem-a-rozsadkiem/

I don’t really like the Muslim faith and they approach to women but I don’t particularly like any religion and I have the same problems with Christianity as with Islam. I don’t really care if people don’t assimilate as long as the follow the law in a country that they are in. I’ve met a few Muslims (I have Muslim neighbors and I also met some of them in France and Spain) and all of them were normal people living in the western culture. Even if they don’t want to assimilate they subconsciously soak up the culture of the country that they are in. I think that there are a lot of extremists just as there are a lot of Christian fanatics that for example bomb Planned Parenthood clinics, just look at the Westboro Baptist Church.

I’ve watched a lot of videos and read a few articles that show both sides of the problem but I still feel the same. Unfortunately I’m leaving Warsaw tomorrow and I won’t have my computer with me so I won’t be able to get more into the discussion but I don’t think I would change anybody’s mind anyway. I’m just not afraid of a couple of thousands of people, I’m aware that there might be some dangers but I still think we should help the refugees .

As for my "first of all", I hate the topic of immigrants, muslims, syrians, so on. The truth is, it's no use trying to follow the news about them as the media are showing us only the one correct way we should look at the problem. Yeah, we can find some immigrants-are-good videos online, but still, they're most often focused on one-sided analysis, either the "kill'em" or "accept them" side.

But still there is this little almost missed problem about all the recent world event and how the Europe is responding. When we look at Russia-Ukraine situation, the Europe-Immigrants situation and recently Russia-Syria situation, we can see that the most visible response the European Union is showing is how it is weak and divided into smaller groups. As it was created for unification, it's not unified at all right now and the rest of world can see that.

It's frightening to see that there is less and less that people of Europe have in common, cause as with the huge immigrations, the religions, culture and all other kinds of small local connectors are slowly fading and in some years it will be difficult to create any reasonable picture of who european people really are. And there are countries waiting for all kinds of weaknesses which shouldn't be new - especially for us with our kind of history.

"War, war never changes" and the degrading global situation connected with europe just ignoring the real threat of losing control of its internal situation are slowly leading us in the direction of the WW III.

I think the immigration itself isn't a real threat, cause it will happen anyway. So many people being passive and countries not trying to gather the immigrants at least at the early stage, which makes it impossible to check if they're not dangerous, they're not sick etc is the real problem for us and that is what the world should focus on now. The long forgotten diseases are counter-attacking, there is an increase and crime and stuff. People are different and just accepting everyone that tells us "I'm gonna be your neighbour" is just plain stupid, especially when their culture is stronger and more organised than our one right now.

To be honest I don't have much to say in this subject. There are so many news in tv, newspapers, internet, everywhere that are not coherent and I am rather confused that sure whether it's good or bad thing? There are many fake articles that are only trying to convince us that "immigrants are bad, and vicious and agressive..." I am not really sure about it but I don't have any own experience to judge it....
I understand very well that this subject is pretty oppressive right now. Nevertheless we will hear not once about it in close future. Obviously news shown in social media and other kinds of media are very biased and politically directed.

I will never say anything bad about any religion, because I am very tolerant and I do respect other's believes. However I can not agree to those who claim that their religion is reason of killing other innocent people.

Nowadays we can see a lot of different nationalities among us, even when we are crossing street and this is fine. But those people have normal life. They are working here or studying and nothing bad happens. If people from Syria where those who need help and their only intention is to find safe place and start new life I would be glad to help them. But many evidences shows that they have other reason, which is to spread the their religion using force.
Syrian case is actual for a long time, but now when it occurred that we will be forced to obey them into our country it became to look different. Suddenly after focusing on only Ukrainian-Russian situation all media accumulation is on Syrian situation. That really shows how media manipulate people.

The decentralisation of European Union was inevitable sooner or later. As we can learn from history all unions ever fell apart because something that is going on right now. The end of EU seems more and more realistic after threat of leaving EU by United Kingdom, Czech Republic and Hungary. And this seems to be just a beginning.
It is only about your feelings, how would you react when suddenly so many people from so different culture start living around you. This would force building new mosques, and we all remember case of the last build one:

http://tvnwarszawa.tvn24.pl/informacje,news,swinska-glowa-w-meczecie-policja-przesluchala-swiadka,173663.html

People from different culture very soon will ask for new rights, because I hardly believe that will assimilate easily to our culture.
Unknown said…
I agree with both of you, media always fan the problems and making of them national disaster but we must consider that their holy book 'requires' behaviors that are commonly considered to be prohibited.

We must also remember that among the refugees there are also a number of terrorists who, instead of crowding shelter introduce chaos in catholic countries.
I think your presentation shows only one side of the problem.

People are often too hasty when it comes to judging immigrants. I think we should look carefully on the both sides of the coin. I'm not saying we should accept everyone who wants to come to Europe, because I can see the dangers of that; however I think we should at least try to understand the refugees.

For example, people often say that refugees from Syria look for easy cash here, in Europe, and tend to 'forget' what Syria looks like in the moment. Do you really believe that all of these people escape from the cities of ruins just to earn money or spread their religion? If Warsaw looked like that, wouldn't you like to take your family somewhere safe?

By the way, I don't know where your data comes from, but I've read that 27% of the refugees are under 18. Doesn't sum up with "80-90%" of adult men you've mentioned, does it?

People who think we should accept every immigrant, no matter what the cost is, are naive, but at least they have a heart and they recognize human beings in Syrian immigrants. I prefer those naive people to the ones calling refugees 'cattle' or worse, and I'm really frightened when I read such comments on facebook and other websites.

I really like the article Paulina posted (http://jasonhunt.pl/kwestia-uchodzcow-miedzy-sumieniem-a-rozsadkiem), because it shows both sides of the same coin. I think it's really worth reading.

"Currently one of the biggest migration problems is migration from Syria". Did you heard about syria war? War that brings one hundred thousand casualties? Yep, in majority ppl from syria are trying to run from their death.
This gets funny when ppl gets interested in syria war that begun in 2011 just because it comes to their minds that the this situation will start affecting also them (though migration problem). For the last 4 years no one was doing nothing to try to stop or prevent violence. But i mention this not to talk about syria war but this big migraton wave. The fact is that big part of this ppl trying to save their lives are ppl who cannot stay longer at their home places and needto resettle. Those are real emigrants who need direct help as soon as possible. and after them there is a huge bounch of ppl how thought that going with them to germany is not a bad idea... The only one thing that scarse me is that the islam religon nowadays is full of radical content. Mixing that with avarage middle east state of mide which can be easly conviced, specially using todays technology and media as internet, movies and TV can get a very dengerous result. Fundamentalists might want to use that.
My data does not come from medias but from my family in Turkey. They said that day by day there are thousands people crossing their country and head towards the Europe. They also said who are these people, because they live in a house at the beach. Every day these people on rafts are trying to get out of Turkey. This caused a threat of sharks because immigrants are food for them. For me it is proof that for any price they want to escape from there.

Also what my family told me, and as we can see in the news, the vast minority are not women and children. As I mentioned, these are mainly young men, certainly over 16 years.
In my opinion there is too much help from Europe to run away, and too little to solve the problem itself. There is nothing said about helping with the war. In Ukraine they also could just run away and give up, but they don't. Young men tried to fight for their country even it the price was their life. And for me European Union did not offered everyone from Ukraine to escape but tried to politically influence Russia. I am not saying that it was the best solution or that it help very well, but at least the idea was much more better that with Syrian.

I don't have a clear opinion about this subject. I'm afraid of this whole situation. So many people with different culture and religion, rather it can't be anything good. I know one thing, we aren't prepared for it to take such amounts of refugees. We have a problem to provide a decent standard of living to the citizens of our country, so what with imigratnts? Two thousand people that's not a big deal but twelve thousand and it could be more. There is a big difference between for example imigrants from Ukraine and from Syria. Ukrainians are very similar mentally to us so they have fewer problems to assimilate. I think that if we take these people from Syria, It can't be such large quantities.

I'm really fed up with this subject, don't get me wrong - being conquered by band of hostile religious fanatics is probably the worst thing, that could happen to a country. Islamic religion 'of peace' is fundamentally based on hatred toward all the non-believers and all women (what most of people tend to ignore because - who cares, everyone oppress women, it's absolutely normal).
But why make a religious war out of it? Why it is always Christians vs. Muslims. Why not common sense vs. Muslims.

here, I wrote something \o/

Hey I love Kurzgesagt animations (especially the space related ones, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNhhvQGsMEc maybe not too science-y, but good enough to halt the thoughts about beating someone with a cross to death. at least for a second)
And by the way they're good source of random topics for this blog.
I understand that war is a horrible thing, people lose their homes, wealth, family and friends. Polish people also flee to seek refuge in other countries, let us mention the great emigration in XIX century, when our countrymen emigrated, mostly to France. They needed help and received asylum, so in a way we know what it's like and should feel somewhat obligated to help others.

The problem with Syrians is that if they really sought for shelter from war they would settle in neighbouring countries or poorer regions of EU, but no, they want to get to Germany, Sweden or Great Britain. Why? For money.

I remeber reading somewhere on the Internet about refugees in Hungary (sorry, no source 'cause it was long ago and I don't remember where exactly I read that). Hungarians prepared food and some necessities for them, they really wanted to help people in need, but instead of being grateful the refugees would throw everything out leaving additional mess.

So yeah, there's no way I'm going to believe these are poor victims of war who need to be helped.

Another thing is that even if the EU makes Poland take in X thousand of refugees they won't stay for long 'cause we're not a country wealthy enough to give them the amount of money they expect for just hanging around. And to be honest I get a feeling that only those seriously in need would stay in Poland.

While I agree that Syrian refugees should receive help, I'm not happy they have to come to EU in such numbers. I'm very much displeased that these people are forced to move to us rather than seek help among the wealthy Arabian Gulf countires which not only are closer geographically to Syria, but also culturally. Those countries are very reluctant to the refugees because they believe there could be terrorists hiding among civilians. If Gulf countries do that, then why are we supposed to accept such a threat? I don't think that a potential terrorist will get magically cured of their ill intensions the moment they cross European borders.

To be honest, I believe it's simply not our task to take care of them. Europe has been struggling with it's own problems for a while and this will only bring us more trouble. These great number of people needs shelter, food etc. which our governments have to provide at our expense. Swedes and Germans are evicted from homes to make room for refugees and small rural town communities in Germany (like Sumte) become minorities in their own country. As for Poland, it's ridiculous that we are going to accept refugees from some far away country while we have problems with helping our own fellow men evacuate from war-ridden Ukraine.

I don't want to let my feelings take over, but if you ask me, Europe is a vicitim of it's own tolerance. We won't say "no" because it's not politically correct. It's rude and omg people are overreacting, everything will be fine etc. Well, I'm not convinced at all. ;)

Okay, so the second thing about muslims. So lets be honest - Poland should not be in worry with that situation, the vast majority of immigrants is aiming at Germany and other western Europe states, Eastern Europe is out of their interest and any way, what the hell they will do here? Learn Polish language and stay here for their entire life? Polish language is definitely more difficult than Western European languages and here you have to work hard, 'cause no one wants to see you getting salary just because you are Muslim or refugee. I am not big specialist in Polish social care question, but I have this feeling that being refuge gives you almost zero social benefits and to get citizenship they have to work really hard, much harder as if they found themselves in Germany with sweet refugee-status and minimum wage just because they exist.
And also, one remark - the British Council declared that only 40% of all refugees are really from Syria, others are just people who thought that it is a good idea to change place of living, especially when for the vast majority of European people all Muslim people are the same (if you can define whether it is some guy from Syria, Iraq or Egypt it is great as probably you know enough about their culture, language and other stuff).
Political discussions are not really my thing, so I won't be long.
In my opinion people should help each other to make the world a better place - however it is possible. This is so typical for Polish people - "my ancestors fought really hard for my well-being so I'm not sharing". My grandpa told me some time ago that Polish people are like that (accompanied by "I must hate anyone who is wealthier than me" and taking pride in working around the system) because of the hard times and there is no way they will change - Polish mentality might change after a couple of generations pass away. Anyway, maybe I have a very Disney approach to this subject, but I think that it is our moral responsibility to take care of the ones who suffer. On the other hand I think that the immigrants should not abuse the help they are offered and try to stay in their country unless it puts their life in danger.
Thanks for the link, the animations are really pretty (and informative)!
Natalia, my feelings exactly:)
Thanks for your comment, it is an interesting approach - you don't discuss much about whether it is ok to accept the immigrants in Europe or not, you try to think where else to place them.

Just before this course started I discussed with a friend that for sure we'll see a topic about refugees and Muslims. We only wasn't sure how fast it will hit us and how stereotypical it will be. You're the best. You not only gave us two such articles on day one but also very tendentious ones. After reading your articles I'd like to ask how many Muslims do you know personally, how many immigrants do you know, how many of them are refugees and how many of them are trouble to the local community?
Unknown said…
In my opinion the combination of two such different cultures in the same area will have negative effects. Every culture has different rules. The same thing fore some people can be good and bad for others. Everything in our life is dependent on some order that varies depending on the country.
Moreover I think that Poland has its own big problems that are not solved. We should not do the next problems - Refugees. Of course we should help them but in their country not in ours.
Unknown said…
In a current immigration crisis Syrian Immigrants are in minority. Some time ago I read that up to 80% of all migrants are from Libya, Eritrea, Sierra Leone and so on. Most of them are strong, young men ready to fight for social benefits. They are not refugees, they are parasites who want to get free accommodation and money. It makes me angry when I see videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hCjNVp88HA when they throw away food given by Hungarians. We should not accept distribution quotas and support actions of the rest Visegrad group’s countries.

The situation in Syria and the emigrants influx to Europe can be viewed from two perspectives - our own personal feelings and larger politycal decisions, which will affect all european union countries.
The basic problem in assesment of this situation is lack of clear, objective informations. Every piece of information that reaches us is filtered through diffrent media and presented in such a way that makes us feel specific things on the matter.
We can show pictures of a dead boy laying on the beach or images of a group of agressive young males. We can compare syrian emigration to polish emigration or we can think about information coming to us from Greece. It's all a matter of angle.
The longer this situation goes on the more difficult it is for me to form an opinion about it. I think we lack perspective and knowledge needed to forsee long term consequences of some decisions.
I wish we were prepared to accomodate new emigrants so they could addapt to living in Poland and I believe we are capable to live together in peace, according to law and with respect for each other's religion. However I can understand people who look negatively on the subject. Fear is understandable because we don't know how our government will handle the complex problem of assimilation and if it will be able to give us safety in case of emergency. Of course I'm not talking about xenophobia, I assume each one of us understands we can find decent people in every culture as well as people who can be problematic and break the law.
I only hope that the politicians will make decisions according to experts opinions and what's good for whole Europe - not according to their own personal gains.
I totally understand you It's also made me mad when I watched this video and I saw those immigrants behavior. I don't understand how people would behave like that when someone want to help.
It's true that most of the immigrants aims to countries like Germany, France, England but those countries want to distribute immigrants into all EU countries (Junker Plan). According to this plan every country of European Union will have to take immigrants into their countries under threat of penalty of 0.002% of own budget. Current quotas for Poland is 12k people.
Unknown said…
For those who really run from the war it is a solution, however, lets approach it from other side - those who are really interested in social benefits will find numerous reasons on how to avoid going to other states besides those of the Western Europe and the EU really has no means to force them (and kicking them out of the EU, well, it probably will work but only for a short period of time until those people will try again). The funniest part, that that plan was created by the EU, but refugees can think and act other way.
Unknown said…
Some groups says: "Let them assimilate. Join our community" Yee sure why not but:
- why there are 80% of young male?
- why there is so much damaged society?
- why there is soooo much anger in them?

It's easy. Like Max Kolonko said: "They are emigrants. They have no rights to be here in Europe. Police should take them by force and moved over border." or something similar. And i can't agree more. There is a law for every one. We have to hold it tight or it will bring anarchy. You all probably saw news where police cars are being damaged by rocks thrown by young strong muslum men. Who will pay for that? Of course tax-payer. Sooo bring them all here. Our taxes are soo high that we can take whole nation. Greeting Polish Government.
Unknown said…
I totally agree with you. We can talk about acceptance and tolerance but I'm not sure that tolerance exist. We can show our good heart but why we don't help people who need our help in our country? Why we don't help there where someone won't see that? Do people must do everything for the show? Maybe I don't understand this whole circus, yes I'm totally without it. But I know that we should more help there where I totally agree with you. We can talk about acceptance and tolerance but I'm not sure that tolerance exist. We can show our good heart but why we don't help people who need our help in our country? Why we don't help there where someone won't see that? Do people must do everything for the show? Maybe I don't understand this whole circus, yes I'm totally left out it. But I know that we should more help there where go our hand and eyes, not there where media tell us.
In the other hand we're talking about other faith, not only culture. When we talk about Islam the story just become much harder.
Unknown said…

At first a would like to point that this two articles are very similar and touching same subject. Until my opinion submitted in a previous comment won't change, about potential reasons and solutions of Muslims immigration to Europe, I would like to comment potential consequences of accepting large number of Muslims imitations. This problem could be divided into two main topics, economical and social. It's obvious that accepting immigrants is expensive and could be difficult to fund especially for the poorer European countries. On the other hand rich countries encourage immigrants to settle down by offering social policy. The second problem is about associate of immigrants in local society. The process is usual very long and it can took ten year or even more. Variety of reasons could be border difficult to cross for those people like language and culture differences. This causes the growth in unemployment and committed crimes.
Julia Osiak said…
This article is very similar to your previous one... My opinion here is pretty much the same: help those who really do need our help, those who are leaving thier homes behind to find safety from war. Economical migrations should be controlled and settling procedures should be carefully planned and executed.

At the outset, I want to say that every person, regardless of nationality has the right to feel safe. As you know the situation in Syria is not interesting, so nobody should be surprised that the Syrians may be concerned about their future. I think there are three main reasons that make this subject is so controversial. firstly: how to judge who really needs help and who uses the situation to a better life? Second, why should we help immigrants while in Poland people do not have money for food? and thirdly, the simplest reason: fear. We are afraid of the others, so different cultures. But I think that whatever concerns you have to find a way to help people whose life is in danger.
Unknown said…
I really feel sorry for people who are living in Syria. It's hard for me to even imagine what it's like to lose a house, family , everything ...
I understand them , that they seek help and a place where they will live safely...but...the massive migration of Syrians to EU countries is worrying for several reasons:
Why do more than most of the refugees are young men ? What about women and children?
Young, healthy men should be in the country and fight for their homeland , not to flee to Europe, where they think they will live like in a fairy tale . In Germany the refugees complained that they had to eat rice ... i have the impression that they are from another planet.
How do you ensure that among these men are no people with ISIS ? They hate Christians and eager to kill us for their religion.
We have our differences in religion and culture. Weather in Europe, it is capricious , in Poland a half years is a veritable winter . How they will cope with the cold weather?
And what of the Arab countries , eg . Saudi Arabia ? Very rich country , have the conditions to the acceptance of so many refugees. Religion , culture and weather is the same as in Syria.
Why they will not take them ?
The last thing.... Syrian refugees and Poland
Why Poland is to take as many refugees , since she can not cope with the Poles ? How many Polish families need help ? As far as Polish children go to school hungry ?
Poland to the poor country with poor people . We can not make more than 10 thousand refugees. How can we help them if we can't help needy families in Poland ?
I hope that the matter of the refugees will not touch us in Poland , and they adapt to our rules, and not us to them . I hope that Poland will continue to a safe country and you can safely go out of the house and not be afraid that someone will attack us ..

The biggest problem is that European Union doesn't have any idea how to resolve the problem with illegal immigrants. Excessive accepting them into our society can have bad effects. I also can't understand why we have to ensure huge financial support. As said Max Kolonko it will cause destructive effects for European safety and freedom of religion. If the most of immigrants are men that may cause street wars in European countries.
Unknown said…
I totally agree with you. Europe is not ready to adopt such a number of illegal immigrants. The fundamental problem is that Europe cannot distinguish who are the real refugees, who are economic immigrants - who want a good benefit and a free apartment, and who are the hidden potential fighters ready to fight against our religion. For the latter group, the current situation is an excellent opportunity to reach Western countries for not peaceful purposes. That's why people are so afraid of a massive influx ...
Unknown said…
In my opinion, the fear of unknown is what brings true terror. We don’t know for sure what will happen and what to expect from immigrants. The only thing people in Poland do right now is create in their head a dark vision of how will the future look. There are so many informations and opinions on the Internet about this topic, that we don't know which one of them is true and that's why people are so afraid of.

I am very skeptical about the immigrants. They say that they are fleeing before the war, looking for safety ... So why they all want to escape to Germany, England and the Scandinavian countries? They pass other countries, which are also safely, for example Hungary, Austria, and they do not want to stay there. I confess that I do not believe in all what is about this topic on the Internet, but I can not hide distrust when I see the movie, where tired refugees thrown out on the railroad tracks water and food, which They have received. :
https://youtu.be/kmAder67fCQ
By such people, everyone who really need help, and who would be very grateful for every little help are unfortunately treated as impostors and tricksters. Therefore, as I wrote in a previous comment, it is very important that Europe will be able to distinguish who from these people really need help, and who wants only the benefits and life for free.

Hello Dear Bloggers,

I would like to share my opinion with you because I am quite interested in this kind of topic recently.

The first most important thing here is EU statement in this case.
I know that many immigrants need help and support to bring their normal life and I agree with that. But please try to consider situation in Europe after few years if imigrants will came here. Different countries have not ideal situation with budget - but they wil have to maintaint those people and provide social help and that costs.

Second very important point here is that EU should help countries like Syria to bring the order back in them. What European Europe is doing?! There are ideas that countries which do not let immigrants in should pay penalty of 0.002% of their budget. Is this fair?! Why not invest these money to help poorer countries like Syria stabilize ?

My last remark here is connected with asimilation. As Cezary wrote immigrants who arrive to Europe are young Muslim men. They do not want to asimilate with local people. I do not have problem with foreigners but I think that if you as an immigrant arrive to country you must accept the rules that are applied. If young Muslim is in Poland, he should accept rules and behaviour. In other way it can destabilize Europe. Please check what is happening in France. Muslims would like to distate the rules and France has a big problem with providing solution for this problem.

Just to sum up in my opinion European Europe should help immigrants but not in the way that it is doing it now. EU should provide financial and military support for those countries that have complicated situation.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
