Week 10 [30.05 - 05.06] When art meets fashion.

Combinations of desing, hightech, art and fashion it sounds like a recipe for success. I want to
show You exampels of this who knew about it and now they are recognizable around the world as
a symbol of modernity and success. Personally I am maniac of this kind of combinations and I am
looking forword to see similar ideas in Poland.

1.Yayoi Kusama Japanese painter, sculptor, writer, performer avantgarde and political activist.
A precursor of the minimalist, popart and feminist art movements. In 1968, Kusama established
Kusama Fashion Company and began selling avantgarde fashion in the Kusama Corner.
However, the bigest recognition came after her line of Louis Vuitton products. All what she creats
is distinctive and unique, it can not be taken as a work of someone else. Her favorite graphic
symbols are dots shown in every possible way. Her phenomen is using simple shape to create
striking pattern. In Japan she is one of the most fameous contemporary artist, she become kind of
symbol of japnis art around the world.

2. Marimekko is Finish brand witch style we can equate to Kusama in a lot of ways. First of all
type of pattering, repeatable shapes. Flowers in different vivid colours create a distinctive
combination witch is even use as a visual identity of Finish Air Lines. Marimeko is another
example of design witch became a symol of whole country.

Propobly fashion in eyes of a lot of people is really comercial industry witch is only about money.
Unfortunetlly it is a lot of truth in this opinion but not 100%. Fashion can be fun, can be art and
even identity of a region and culture.

I am a fan of fashion and when I see some clothes especially at fashion shows I consider them only as a piece of art, because there is no possibility of wearing those close in everyday life. I understand that fashion designers are looking for something more than simple and obvious solutions. Sometimes I am terrified with their’s ideas. I am wondering who is actually buying them and paying crazy amount of money for something that is not possible to wear. For me it is absolutely sufficient to buy simple things in shops known to everyone, because I am not so interested in designers and I don’t see point of wasting money for piece of material. I rather care about kind of material, would it last for a while and how I feel in it.
Of course I like to look tidy and good, but I don’t care about fashion too much. I think that it is more important for woman, however we can see that there exists man fashion and also man decided to start blogs about man fashion. I don’t have to say that girls are much crazier about their’s dresses, accessories, bags, shoes and so on. Man is much simpler. But we can notice that there is a difference in elegance, because man is always wearing suit and watch and shoes. But woman has amazing selection of dresses, models, shoes, bags, accessories, jewellery and even hairstyle makes for them huge difference. Thank to God that I am a man :)

I don’t interested in fashion. It has never been my passion. Kind of fashion, which you showed is not my favorite. Unfortunately I can’t answer for your last question. It is completely without my interest.
I like good designs, but it is completely other than fashion. Fashion consists of style( cutting), material and other more. When I talk about good designs, I think about a pattern. It a little connects with my studies. This flower, uhmmm...., I'm not sure.
I'm not really interested in fashion. I don't particularly like this kind of fashion in the sense that I wouldn't wear it, but I also don't care much about what other people are wearing, so I accept that it might be attractive to someone. I also don't know many Polish designers/brands and anything about their chances to becom known worldwide.

I'm not crazy about fashion, but there are several designers that I like. However, they represent a totally different style than the ones you've shown in your presentation. The designers you've mentioned use colorful patterns; what I like about high fashion is sophistication, luxiurious fabrics, and a touch of gothic vibe.

The designers I like are, for example, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, or Zuhair Murad. :)

I'm not into fashion a lot but I enjoy and can appreciate good craftsmanship and nice clothes. Personally I prefer classic designs and I'm not into floral patterns at all but I can look at a piece of clothing as a work of art.

Couture is an interesting style. It's high end fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most capable sewers using hand-executed techniques. Some of the designs are really weird. Check it out

I'm not interested in fashion but I think fashion which is presented now on the catwalks, it be more like art than the clothes in which you can walk on the street. I think Alexander McQueen it's great example, http://marchioness.fr/fr/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2015/04/UnitedNude3DShoes_Header-1050x700.jpg - I think this shoes are difficult to walk, but they are beautiful :) I like these amazing designs and I think that would be great as costumes in movies. As for the clothes in which I dress up, I prefer simple styling, in the end as they say "less is more" ;)

It's undeniable that fashion has always shaped culture and will continue to do so. I really love seeing photos of beautiful and luxurious dressed, especially those made with lace. The imagination of the designers knows no bounds, especially as they took to combining more than just fabrics and jewels. I've always enjoyed Alexander McQueen's designs, especially his clutches.

Then again, fashion is also amazing and ridiculous sometimes. Often, articles about weird fashion experiments would pop up here and there, showing examples like [here], [here] or [here]. It's hard to understand what's going on, other than "it's art, deal with it" :D

I'm interested in fashion, I love unique designe and fashion shows, but now we can see more everyday clothes on runways. In my opinion it's more interesting to see a beautiful and unique designe, made just for show, it shows us how amazing designer's imagination is.

Are You interesed about fashion?

No, not really. Its totally not my cup of tea.

Do You like this kind of fashion?

It reminds me of 60-70's. Dont know if thats accurate but Polka dots remind me of that era.

Do You find any Polish brand or designer who could be our representation around the world?

Hmm not really, as I said I dont follow fashion at all
Unknown said…
Yes, of course I'm interested in fasion. I think that every person should be a bit interested in fasion. It's important to look good when you're out of home. Good look is a half of success of my opinion. But fasion that you presented in your article is really weird for me. That's why I can agree that I don't like it.

Polish brand or designer that could be our representation?
- Hmm, let me think. Biedronka! They designed worldwide known carry bags :D

I am not very great fan of fashion. Actually only things that I like, from "design" point of view are cars. Except them I care only about functionality. Especially clothes should be comfortable, and that is the only thing I care about.

I’m totally not interested about fashion. I just don’t understand it. I know that some people call it art, but when I see those weird cloths at fashion shows I give up.
Unknown said…
I'm not interested in fashion. I don't like trends in fashion and such, I never felt the need to look "fashionable" and usually I find some clothes absolutely disgusting and go for clothes that will be ok to wear next season. It's a little different when you treat it as art, which is hard for me to do, but still - not my thing.

I prefer fasion over nonsense and frankly for me this is not a fasion but some kind of crazy dream of guy on acid. Seriosly, since when classic suite became worse than some kind of crazy red-blue-yellow piece of cloth or leather wrapped arround genitals and called a new wave of fasion? Would someone wear in public something like that? Probably some freaks would, but I am sure very soon they will find themselves in the nearest police department.

I’m not interested in fashion not because I think it’s too mainstream or it’s only for the ladies, but because I simply do not have time. It’s hard to make an opinion if you only give one photo of their work, after what I saw it seems to be interesting, I’ve never heard about Marimekko and Yayoi Kusama, but knowing something more in life is great, I’ve always approached it in a positive way. I do not know any Polish brand or designer who could be famous as these people. I don’t get the concept of the second picture, when I look at it I only see flowers with different colors, I’m not hating the artist or her work. If I would have to answer WHICH work is better I’d stick with the first one.

Fashion is a biznes in a same way as motor or cosmetic industry. People spend a lot of money to achieve cushiness. Anyway I agree with you that prices are often too high i would even say ludicrous when we consider clothes as piece of material .
OlaScislewska said…
This days fashion is also for men i would even say that in a lot of countries like Sweden or Italy men take fashion as serious as women. In Poland fashion is still treated like kind of whim.

I'm not interested in fashion completely. Colors have more. Shown by the examples you do not fully color-speak to me. Style as well. I like minimalism - in dress, colors, style. This differs a little bit from my liking. Everyone has a different taste and a sense of art.
OlaScislewska said…
The way from design to fashion is really short. Good draft, high quality, utility are fundamental in both
OlaScislewska said…
I fully understand that :)
OlaScislewska said…
Designers You mentioned represent different style then Kusama and Marimekko anyway I like them too.
OlaScislewska said…
Haute couture is the part of fashion focused on art aspect. It is always a pleasure to watch couture shows.
OlaScislewska said…
Yes Biedronka could be our representation I totally agree with You :)

It's one of my favourite topics. I love fashion and naturally interested in fashion. I think that it is kind of art who can touch anyone, anyone can associate with it. I heard about Yayoi Kusama and Marimekko. I prefer Marimekko. I really like this brand to see but generally I buy classic clothes. Sometinmes in my wardrobe someone can find extravagant items of clothing but it's rarity.
In my opinion we have a lot good designers. A great example is Robert Kubisz, BOHOBOCO, La Mania. I hope that they will be successful in the world.
OlaScislewska said…
I must agree with You. Fashion has two faces, can be beautifull part of culture or become something totally ridiculous.
Unknown said…
I am as much interested in fashion as an opportunity to dress completely different from what is currently trendy. Speaking about style of presented artist, it's rather far from what I find appealing so it's not my area of interest. Although I always appreciate when people try doing something new so it's interesting to see fashion from different people.
OlaScislewska said…
Im happy that You like the topic. I agree with brands that you choose as Polish representation.

Always I like fashion and I'm interested in but actually I'm not on time what means I don't know the latest trends. In my opinion fashion should be good fun as you mentioned because it's only our clothes which is not valuable in human assessment. I have never heard before about this Japanese fashion designers but I like their ideas and extravagance. I prefer in fashion classic cuts, simple colors and one eye-catching detail.
Well, isn't fashion always somehow connected with art? I am not talking about haute couture because this obviously is a wonderful form of art. Sometimes it does not fit everybody's taste, but it always looks spectacular. What I wanted to say is that when we choose our outfit (at least some people), we try to combine different elements, sometimes from styles that are far apart from each other, to create a harmonious and unique structure.
Unknown said…
In my opinion fashion itself is somehow connected to art - all haute couture collections are small pieces of art! In my opinion even more than examples that you mentioned :P
Unknown said…
Haha I have just read your comment, it looks like we have similar opinion :D

1. Are You interesed about fashion?

Haha not really! In terms of fashion i am a "basic bi**h" :D

White/grey/black tshirt, grey or black sweatshirt, slim jeans or chino trousers are my kidn of clothes.

I like to see some nice clothing stuff, yeah, but it is not anythign i have my strong interest in.

2. Do You like this kind of fashion?

Yeah! The first one, Yaoi Kusama i have already seen in the past and i like it because of her pure simplicity which really is aesthetic and unique in some way :) But very often i see really overthought overeverything clothes which are not my type at all.

3. Do You find any Polish brand or designer who could be our representation around the world?

Nah :/ I don't recognise any Polish names from the fashion world
Unknown said…
Combination of art and fashion is something that I can really appreciate. I think a lot of fashion trends and changes have their roots in traditional art.
Greatest fashion visionaries rarely create new things by surrounding themselves with just beautiful branded clothes.
I have never been interested in fashion, apart from how to look good and neat. The art and fashion combination that You described seems interesting and I will definatelly check it out just to see what else is there. Unfortunatelly I do not know any polish designers and what follows I cannot suggest anyone that should represent us in the world.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form.
