I work for big corporation for 2 years and this is my first job. In my opinion joing this enterprise was one of best life choices which I made. I think that for few reasons. Firstly I do not worry about job after I leave the office afternoon. If I would have my own business I could not stop thinking about how it goes. It it true that for 8 hours of my day I fulfill others dream - not my own - but it do not bothers me as long as after job I can do what ever I want, which means do my hobby or live peacefully and do not worry.
Secondly: people there are in most ceases awesome and very different from each other - I have learned so much from them. Another thing is in one day I can work with one person and another I have to help in the different project which requires working with (barely known by me) people. I don't think this situatuon is so common at small firm.

Ofcourse there are two sides of medal, for example bureaucracy is enormous and some procedures are not so understandable for employees, but it is not that bad :)

Yes I have thought of running my own business but in my opinion it is to expensive (in Poland) and for most important I do not have idea for it! So from my point of view it is not an option.

Nice topic :) I hate corporations, I used to work for one of them and it was terrible.

Why was working at the corporation so bad? There are couple of reasons:
1. If I wanted something, I needed to wait for it for a loooong time. And I sent reminder. And waited. And then waited again.
2. I couldn't visit toilet unless I asked my boss if I could do it. I couldn't go without direct permission.
3. My boss was very rude. When I asked why I didn't get my salary or something like that he took his wallet, opened it and said "fuck, I forgot it" (true story).
4. In general I felt like in a prison - cubicles and stuff.

I used to work there for 1.5 month and then my whole body was telling me to leave. When I started puking for every single day before going to work, then I realised I'm not going to waste any more time of my awesome life there.

After that I started working for a small company where we were all like family and it was the best company I ever worked for. I worked there for almost 2 years, and then I left to start my own company.

Running your own business is the best thing I ever did, but it's not for everybody. It's very intense experience with lot of stress and emotional rollercoaster. There's a good piece on this topic: http://techcrunch.com/2012/06/14/the-struggle/

Recently I started another company, and it seems like in next 2 months, I'll be running 4 of them.

Finally, I'm happy, I do what I always wanted to do. Don't be fooled - I also have very bad days, when it's difficult for me to get out of bed, but I hope there will be less and less days like this.

On the other hand, I know many people working for corporations and they are very happy with that too - they finish work at 5, they can learn a lot and the company gives them sense of stability - comfort zone. Whatever works for you.
Personally I have never worked in a big corporation. I am currently working in a small company as a developer and I must admit I really enjoy it. I like the atmosphere at the office, which is quite friendly due to the fact that we are quite a small team. Of course it's not like we spend all the time having small talk - everybody works hard. Each person has their own work and space in the office and thanks to the fact each person working on the project is "easily accessible" it's easier to coordinate the project and consult any change.
However I believe I wouldn't have any trouble working in a big corporation. Obviously it would be completely different, but I am the type of person, who just need to know what has to be done. I like working on my own and solving problems through my methods. So as long as I know what is my assignment, I can work in any conditions (as long as nobody is bothering me of course). Again, I never worked in a big corporation, so I can't really express my opinion on the pros and cons. All I can say is that I probably wouldn't mind that as long as there would be an efficient flow of information.

Corporate life, is really fascinating, because you either like it or hate it. There is no other possible way.
- Where do you work (if you do) and where do you wish to work – a corporation, a small firm, your own business?
I work for the biggest corporate insurance broker in the world. I don’t see myself in any other place.
- Do you have any experiences with corporate life, any absurd and frustrating situations, or on the contrary- exceptionally nice ones?
There is something new every day. Corporate life is based on the idea of many different people working on the same project/in the same place in the same time. It can be really good or really bad, depending on what do you expect. All the bureaucracy is there so help us do the job we are supposed to do. Attached movie is just an exaggeration of reality, comedy, but to some extent situations like this happen.
- Have you ever thought of running your own business? Do you think it’s worth a big effort?
Everyone did. I did to. But I figured is better to cumulate experience in the business. You can always open a new business.
Corporate life can be really good or really bad, depending on what do you expect. All the bureaucracy is there so help us do the job we are supposed to do.
Cheers

I am unemployed now, but I have heard many opinions on that topic. First of all, everything depends on the corporation, collegues, workplace. I can't say that corporations are good or bad, because it's all about people. If you have met those who care then you may live in heaven, but if you can describe your boss or collegues using only 3 letters, then good luck sir/ma'am. One of my friends works at Samsung as programmer and he says it was the best choice he made. Atmosphere is good, payment is better and also he isn't worrying about the future. As I see it, having this big brand name on your CV is a great thing when you want to look for better job.

Thanks for "The Office". I always forget about this show
I think that the whole topic about hard working conditions In large Corporations is largely overrated.

In my opinion it doesn’t mater either that you work in large corporation or in a small business ( like I do). It all depends on the people you work with. From me experience I can tell that both of these working environments can turn your life in hell on Earth. You have to make good relations with your coworkers, and it can be hard in small business as well as in a large corporation.

Of course you can say that in large corporation you are more anonymous than when you work in a small company that everybody knows each other. But it can be a good thing, you can focus on your job and nothing will disturb you. That only depends on your idea of good working environment. I have never worked in a very large corporation, and I don’t regret it. I like working with 10-15 coworkers, address everybody by name (even my boss) and go out for a beer or something like that once for a while. It definitely helps me regenerate and I can work more efficiently after that . I won’t say that I can’t imagine myself working for a large international corporation, but I really doubt that I would feel better there than I fell nowadays in my work. Probably I could earn there more money, bout as they say money is not everything.
I work in a small firm so I know every person in it. We have a very friendly athmosphere there, which in my opinion is crucial, especially when your work is to creat things. On the other hand I aslo do a lot of freelance projects, so I have the preview of having my own buisness means.
I think that some day I would like to work in corporation, I see myself there after graduating. But not for a very long time. I need time for myself and my family. I can't imagine working 12 hours a day! As I said, I haven't work in a corporation so I don't have any experience so far.
Sometimes I think about it...Who knows... I am aware that when you start working totally on your own you have to fully dedicate. But it's woth this big effort, you are your own boss!:D

Where do you work (if you do) and where do you wish to work – a corporation, a small firm, your own business?
I work for one of the biggest multinational telecommunication corporation that employs about 170000 people worldwide. I worked in smaller companies but this one I like the most. More opportunities, ways to learn something new and money of course :)
Do you have any experiences with corporate life, any absurd and frustrating situations, or on the contrary- exceptionally nice ones?
For 8 months I didn’t really experienced any of this absurd or frustrating situations. I think it really depends on team in which you are working. Mine for example is very helpful and in specific situations useful I must say :)
Have you ever thought of running your own business? Do you think it’s worth a big effort?
I always did but for now I need to focus on finishing school and gathering experience to be more competitive on the market.

I work in a global corporation and I'm glad about it. There are a few things, which I really enjoy in it. First of all, as Natalia, I do not have to work after hours. Of course I do have some overtimes, however I do not take my job to home, which is very important to me. Another thing is gathering knowledge. Working with many diffrent people from various background and usually more experience than me (it is my first full time job) is valuable, because I can learn a lot from them. Last thing, which I want to mention is that multinational companies gives you a lot of opportunities such as working around the World or changing your role, departament etc. On the other hand there are some drawbacks as well. Usually one of them is lack of flexibilty in case of working hours, dress code, free days and even fixed salaries, which is somehow less relevant when you lead your own business. However I don't feel I'm not ready to run a company. It's to huge responsibility and it requiers more effort. I hope I will do it one day, as it some stange of personal development, but for now I do not have clear idea for the business I want to carry on and enough motivation for that.

I am unemployed currently and have never worked for a big corporation, but i would love to. Not because it is a promise of a great career or big money. In my opinion the greatest specialists are employed by the biggest corporations. With this assumption I can learn the most things from corporational trainers. I don't have any experience with corporate life except from stories that I hear from time to time from my colleagues (hello Armand) and of course american TV series. TV series show both - pros and cons, but Armand can tell only pros. In my opinion it depends on a person because not every man can work in a corporate. I studied computer game programming so most of my colleagues will work in a big corporate or run their own buisness. Many people thinks that running own buiseness is a easy way to wealthiness. It is, but before there is a long way filled with tears and sweat

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
