Week 10 (14.12-20.12) The true success story of Apple's iPhone

The true success story of Apple's iPhone.

Apple was a flagship US cooperate success story. The iPhone is one the best known brands in the world. The success of the iPhone an Apple’s strategy can be attributed to many factors. Steve Jobs greatly contributed to the development of many iPhone’s products in America and abroad. After Steve Jobs, Tim Cook  the new CEO of Apple continued his legacy.

The success of iPhone started in 2007. It was the best smartphone in 2007, but nothing has happened in 2015. It became a status symbol and many people believe that iPhone is the most luxurious telephone you can get.

Here’s a chart describing its annual sales:

iPhone’s success story is the annual iPhone global sales expansion. They have risen since 2008 reaching over 220 million of units in 2015.
This is an unprecedented growth rate, for example iPhone sales increased by 87% in the last quarter. Diversification in  revenue streams is largely the reason why this trend was able to continue. Apple also aggressively expanded in China. This was the reflection of what happened in America.

Here’s a video which describes the way of showing a brand new product sample

There is a specific way to describe a new product

Toni Sacconaghi told CNBC:
„I think investors are worried about the next two-year period. ‘Can there really be iPhone growth?’ Because absent that there’s not really going to be much growth from Apple.”

In my opinion the Silicon Valley created many technological start-ups that are industry leaders today. These include Facebook, Google, Amazon and of course Apple. Music, the  internet and social networks have all contributed to the success story of iPhones.

The most appealing feature of iPhones today is their security. iSOS system has best performance in smartphones as well as the best applications for the media(better connect with Flac), lifestyle, photographs – camera edition. – the clue of success. One of the restrictions is its battery supply.

Under Steve Jobs, Apple became a global brand. iPhone was continuously improved. It’s too early to say how the smartphone industry will develop in the next five years. Tim Cook’s  main challenge in the future is to develop and lunch new products to repeat  iPhones success.

Don't you think that these companies are price baloons and sooner or later their estimated worth will dramatically fall down?

I remember when I ordered first iPhone - many of my friends didn't even have phones with color display.
There were of course other phones with touch screen that was even better than in iPhone but I believe that ease of use, colorful interface made this success.
If anyone have seen Steve Job’s biography movie everything is obvious. I am a huge fan of Apple too. Of course I am realistic and I know that the price is extortionate, however there is not a single substitute I could buy in the market. I notices that people who never had occasion to even try working on MacBook or use iPhone have bad opinion about it. But this opinion changes rapidly when they try. The hardware may not be the best, and the price is high, but the user experience and everyday usage is absolutely the best. I spend many years working with Windows and Linux. After using MacBook for some time I will never come back to any of previous operating systems. As we can see Windows tries to copy so many things but it is only for their own demise.

We as IT specialists have less problems in using computers in general, but try to imagine how it is to be any other average computer user. Everything seems to be complicated and OSx makes everything so much simpler.

Did any of you watch the new movie about Steve Jobs? I think it was pretty good and it showed an interesting story of the company's success.

I own an iphone and I strongly prefer apple's interface for phones. I've had both androids and iphones and even though both have their advantages and disadvantages the apple interface is more intuitive and comfortable for me. It's not as flexible as android but it's pretty (:D) so I never had a need to change anything.

However I can't get used to the apple computers, their interface is counterintuitive for me and the prices are deadly. I just don't think the idea to change everything just for the sake of changing and not to improve effectiveness is a good idea. I hate the "comand+c" instead of "ctrl+c" :P

I think that Steve Jobs was great visionary. I really am not sure about Apple's future, because I think they somehow are loosing their vision. There are so many fails that the whole industry sees – like way of charging the apple Pencil, or even a fact that they released something like that :D I always like the simplicity of the product and products palette, now there are so many different things, that you can't even decide what to buy :P And few years later I don't really think there was this problem. Now you have variety of phones, million colors, models, same with iPads - mini, air, this big one... I think it's not as good as it used to be few years before. And I am wondering where it all goes. What do you think? I am not sure if you shared your opinion about all of this :P

Which one do you mean? I have seen the first one with Ashton Kutcher and it wasn't a masterpiece. I have heard opinions about the new one, and the opinions weren't good as well. Have you seen any of these?

I also love interfaces provided by Apple, they are way more intuinitve, and the design of products are very nice :) It is somehow a pleasure to use it, because it's simply beautiful and good quality.

According to the computers - it's a way of habit. I can't use windows computer after switching for mac :D Everything is so simple here, I tell you, its a matter of time :) But yeah, prices are deadly :) But on the other hand devices are way more durable. A laptop after 5years is almost like a new one :)

I meant the new one with Michael Fassbender (I like this actor ;) ). I didn't watch the one with Ashton Kutcher because I heard it was pretty bad - it has a score of 5,9 on IMDB and 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. But I quite like the newer one, maybe some people didn't enjoy it because it wasn't very typical but it has some nice shots and dialogues and the actor really looks like Steve Jobs by the end. For comparison this movie has a score of 7,7 on IMDB and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes so it's not considered to be so bad ;)

I don't like Apple products simply because of price/capabilities ratio. But there's more - I don't find them as handy as people tend to say. I've tried iPhone for a short while. I didn't like it at all. I had to work in Photoshop using Mac - it was horrible.
Having said that I still respect the brand, the name built by Steve Jobs. I might not like the devices, but what he did sure is impressive and without him Apple already screw up some simple design-related issues.
I don't own any Apple device, but I've used Macs and I totally hate them. I don't agree with Cezary that "OSx makes everything so much simpler" - for me, Macs are a nightmare, I can never find anything, I mistake "control" for "command", I can't get used to the way the folders are displayed... I know it's probably the matter of being a PC user for my whole life, but I wouldn't like to switch to Macs (plus, the prices...).

I have seen the movie about Steve Jobs with Ashton Kutcher, but I didn't really like it - it didn't show anything 'visionary' about Jobs and was just boring.

I have iphone 5 and I really like this phone. I think it's great but I don't want to buy Iphone 6. In my opinon iphones lost their style and charm. As for the rest of Apple products, I have a Mac at work and I really don't like this computer. It has a great design and looks very nice but unfortunately I think it's only its advantages. Still, I prefer computers with Windows. Despite many bugs in Windows, I think that is much more user-friendly than MacOSX. MacOSX is completely unintuitive. For the iPhone, I was able to get used to the Mac, unfortunately, I can't.
In my opinion Steve Jobs is an amazing person. He created something that everyone knows.
Unknown said…
Ahahaha, Patrycja I completely agree with you. I'm happy that I'm not only one ;)
Unknown said…
The story of Apple is very impressive. Jobs was a visionary with certainly . They create beautifull products, great designed but in my opinion too expensive. I have never had IPhone and other product and I don’t think that I will ever have it.
For me it is a gadget, I’m not a gadget man, so I don’t need it. “The iPhone changes the world” it is very funny for me, but of course I Iove these awesome slogans :P I don’t feel it, totally.
For me every iPhone, Mac and other products of Apple are completely unintuitive. Of course it is possible that I am "old" man and I can't take control it :P

I think that Steve Jobs made something special, it's not only a brand but something that creates people lifestyle. All apple products are really unique and different from products made by competition. I dont want to tell that they are better becouse everybody like other things, but there are a lot of people when they began using apple products they dont want to use anything else.

I am the owner of the iPhone and I would not change this phone to any other.
I really like apple design. I got used to the system ios. It is fot me more
comfortable than Android.Recently I changed also a computer for MacBook. for now very good for me working on it. in my opinion, Apple's system is more intuitive than others. Apart from that the objects are well-designed.
We want look at it and work on it. Aesthetics and design are very important.

I'm a little torn apart when it comes to Apple products. I really like the design and the solutions that are used in them, but not quite agree with those who uncritically approach to assessment of these devices.
Design itself are not everything, unfortunately. I think that for users of Windows, Mac OS is a system which can cause many problems. The same with the system on the phone, I really hate the iTunes which is needed to communicate with the computer and also the incompatibility with other systems. Try to transfer some data such as Contacts to i.e. Android systems - ordeal.

Steve Jobs was a visionary, he was a person who brought a lot to the development of mobile devices, but do we really need all of these devices? Do we have to be such consumers who contribute to cluttering our world by electronic wastes?

I had so many troubles and crashes running Ubuntu and other Debian based distros on my Dell (which was officially supported btw!) and when I switched to MacBook Air I was amazed by the stability of this system. It's as stable as Windows but gives you underlying UNIX - and that's awesome!

BTW! Congratulations, it's the 300th post on this blog :)!

Whenever i'am hanging around in my friends one of them pulls out a iOS device and another android phone someone has to start discution about "Which is better!?". Everyone have to remember that they were designed in two diferent ways! Smooth easy to use with UX thats whats brings iOS to the table and android: open source, costumization, cheap. Everything have 2 sides :) I use android and i dont feel to change it in close future, not because i dont like iOS- now its just about that i get used to and feel better with this one. Quick reminder! Steve Jobs did not write any code ;)

iPhone and other Apple products have a great design and marketing. Also dedicated accessories work perfect with Apple products. There is no other company that gives you that. And what is extraordinary for me, Apple created a religion which exists both among customers and developers. It will be really hard to slow down this huge machine.

You can not like Apple products for many things... but price/capabilities ratio is here very high. It is the reason why many companies run Mac exclusive environment (ie. TVN) and many more are switching they employees to Apple hardware and software (Google, IBM). Apple hardware is expensive. One can say it is very expensive but it comes with quality and it is hell stable. My macbook can support 8 hours of work just from battery (and I talk here real work). I never turn it off and restart once in a month. When some update needs system to shut down. And it's not just mine opinion. IBM is deploying ~1900 Macs per week and they have over 140000 iOS and OS X devices on site. Only 5% of employees using Apple product needed helpdesk support compared to 40% of alternative hardware or software users. This statistic shows how cheep it is to run Apple in longer term. And it works also in personal scale. Try to calculate how many time you are spending on hardware or software problems. I cut this to 1/10th or maybe 1/20th after switch to Apple.

Apple is one of the most famous brands in the world. Steve Jobs has created something unique, recognizable. Even the way of presenting new equipment is polished to perfection. Just a few seconds cutscene and you know that it is a presentation of the new iPhone.

Personally I do not use Apple devices so I can not comment as to the quality and reliability. I can only rely on user reviews, which are always great.

I had one of those 'other phones' half a year before apple made their first iPhone. No one knew back then why do I bought myself this expensive, overcomplicated phone, and everybody Called this type of phones PDAs. It was more a phone for business, and it had Windows Mobile on board. Then, as time passed suddenly everyone thought I have an iPhone, and that apple invented smartphones.

So from my perspective, apple is a big success because people as a whole are stupid.
Because people want to believe in those silly slogans saying how special they are.
Because they think that the price is not a marketing tool, but rather equivalence of real value and quality.
Because they don't care to make any research.
And finally because they're so easy to manipulate into believing their god-damned products are the most superior, special and awesome thing that happened to this world, it should be illegal.
I completly agree with you. Apple user expierence is unique and has no rival to it’s technology. It gives you full integrated experience. It makes live easier..)
thank you for comment
I agree with you in the price range of the Apple product’s. I like MacBook but it’s personal choice that i think does not have to be accepted by everybody.
Want to share a positive Apple's experience you've had? :)

Movie showed completly different way of thinking. That's the clue.
That's a good point :) that's why people want to buy Apple product's
They are very good at making sure that when you touch or hold one of their products, you know it's a high quality etc. People gets use to and addicted Apple's products
everybody’s expierence is different beacause of the specific experience. This is normal. Apple is not a monopolist company technology segment. Samsung and other brand offers differnt products experiences.

I agree and I'm not telling anyone to stop using Apple :)
@Oskar - I know all of that - still don't like using it ;)

At first I would like to point that I’m also iPhone user and can’t imagine to switch to any other smartphone available on the market. In my opinion this device is really unique and different from others. One of the things which make it really special is very simple and intuitive interface. The second biggest advantages of iPhone is that the hardware and software are made by the same company. Compare to others smartphones where the device and operating system are made separately will, always cause some issues. The last but probably most important thing is the company philosophy itself. Since the beginning of company every product are design by the people with passion. They would like to make every product with a bitten apple prefect. This reasons make iPhone one of the most successful product in the world what is prove by the Apple great sales.
"This statistic presents the brand value of the 25 most valuable brands in 2015. Apple is the most valuable brand in the world with an estimated brand value of about 128.3 billion U.S. dollars. Samsung, which is the second leading brand in the world, has a brand value of about 81.72 billion U.S. dollars.”

It shows that there is huge difference between two the biggest „technology” brand beyond Microsoft. It’s diffucult to predict what happed in the future. But Apple’s is on good way to keep first position of income.

I don't owny any Apple products but my attitude towards the company is pretty positive. I will likely buy an iPhone some day. I heard many positive and negative opinions about it, but I think I would need to try one myself to decide if it's a phone suited for my needs. I really like apple's design and I really can't understand why other companies that make phones, tablets and laptops have such a problem with creating nice designs that would compete with apple. Sometimes I feel other companies don't even care about how their products look.
It's a bit funny or weird that they realease a new iPhone so often, even if they do have good new functionality, I think it's a bit cheap of the company to dose their products like that instead of offering a more valuable product for years, then again, as I said - I don't own one, so I don't feel like I can really judge iPhones.
From the one hand as you said "open source, costumization, cheap." From the other hand you pay for easy access for app like AppStory , quality, lifestyle or even better interface system(my opinion)
quick reminder! the choice is independent of you :)
I completely agree with you. I am the owner of iPhone too and i would not change my phone to any other. I tried to use different system(Windows phone) it was horrible period for me. Iphone and iPad created entire new class of devices

I like Apple products, I value their appearance and functionalities but I only owned iPods, so I can't really compare other available items. I'm getting tired with the ongoing discussions on what's better iOS or Android. It's a matter of personal preference. I do think that Apple products are overpriced though, and that's their biggest flaw. Also, I would like to see more changes in newest releases because right now it's not that exciting any more.
I don't think that Apple's products are perfect. Personally i use some Apple products and i dont have any problem with transfer data source. I got macbook, apple tv which are connected each other, but that's the true Apple product's are incompatibility with other systems.
Cartainly, my father is older than you and he use iPhone and other Apple devices. He can handle it and even get satisfied with working these product’s. that’s never to late for using Regards :)
This is very good point you make about increasing competition beetwenn Apple product’s in highly comptetetive global place. Attention to detail lifestyle and technology increasing. :)
I quite interesting what will you say after your "Apple" user experience. And I agree about little changes in functionality between last model. It rather has better system performance, than provide better technology solutions.
iPod's are completly different than the other devices. Using new devices gets you rather better feedback than old technology. Regards :)

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
