Week 7 [4.05 - 10.05] Hubble Space Telescope

Hubble - is the biggest telescope, which was launched in the XX century, one of the most known telescopes in the world and our window to the far galaxies. A few days ago this great apparat celebrated 30 years of its hard work.

2014 HUBBLE WFC3/UVIS IMAGE OF M16

On April 24, 1990 it was the space shuttle Discovery delivered Hubble into low Earth orbit. Within a week it occurred out, that the primary mirror of the telescope had been polished to the wrong shape, which drastically lowered the quality of images. Almost instantly a group of engineers and scientists started working on how to fix this issue. By the year 2002 all incorrect parts of the optical system were replaced with improved ones. During his long life Hubble has received 5 servicing missions, which were designed to improve/fix any part of its systems as well as let us enjoy great discoveries made with it.
Now anyone can apply for time on the telescope. There are no restrictions in academic affiliation, once a year the submission form should be filled and submitted by the end of the period.

NGC 2174

About Hubble’s images…. A lot of people have seen those great images, taken by Hubble, they have such intensive colors, light and sometimes could be hypnotizing but in reality that’s not how Hubble cameras are working. Hubble takes pictures on different cameras, from monochromical to infrared, and then those pictures are processed to obtain the whole picture of our galaxy. All colors produce some wavelength with different lengths of the wave, this is used to record the color, save it, and apply the most suitable color during result processing.

These are the images from Hubble’s WFC3 instrument that we used to construct the color image, the top row in black&white as recorded. The bottom row is the images with the “additive primary” colors applied.

What’s next? Hubble orbits around Earth in an extremely tenuous upper atmosphere and over time its orbit decays because of drag. Including this fact, Hubble will function by 2030-2040 years. His successor will be James Webb Space Telescope, which should be launched in March 2021.

I think that it's a good news for humanity that we can explore space with that type machines like this telescope. In my opinion we need to know our outside environment(space), but we should more focus on Earth problems. On the second hand there are a lot of people on Earth, so some scientists can explore space and some other scientists can work with Earth problem's. I think people forgot, that we have more than 7 mld people on the world.
Human settlements on the other planets are natural way of our expansion as a civilization. Additional when we will work on human settelments on the others planets our technology will grow up much faster than now.
1. A great piece of iron. I think it was created in an unfortunate period, because I have the impression that if it was developed in the 21st century, it could serve even longer. It was during this time that perhaps the biggest technological leap took place. I wonder what will happen to this telescope? Will he come back to Earth? Will it become another cosmic garbage?

2. At the beginning we should focus on solving problems on Earth. If the money allocated to solve the problems of Earth's pollution were like the money allocated to the exploration of space, I think we would not have to worry about ecological disasters. It makes no sense for man to go to another planet and destroy it like Earth.

3. Until we find drinking water on other planets and vegetation, there is no sense for man to set off to conquer space. I can't imagine going to a planet where there's nothing to drink, something to eat, and you can't breathe. I also think that it is worth taking care of the Earth with special care, because there will still be some people living here.

1. It's fantastic that we have an ability to see some parts of the surrounding universe. The telescope helps with discovering more and more new parts and curiosities of a galaxy(ies).

2. It's definitely ok to be interested in space and it's certainly the field that we should research more and more. There are times when we should of course focus more on our problems here but everyone has own's responsibilities and should focus on it.

3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
This is one of the most exciting, interesting and unknown topics for humanity. Many people are interested if we are able to live on the other planet or rather when we would be able to do so. I think that for now we should focus on what we have here and try to do our best to rescue it now, when it is not too late. Then we won't be in such a rush to find another place to live as soon.

1. What do you think about this great telescope?
I think it is one of the great inventions that help people explore space for 30 years. With the help of Hubble, maps of the surface of the planets and data on some planets outside the Solar System were obtained. And it is very cool that everybody can find out what Hubble is observing at any time by visiting the website.

2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
In my opinion, it is normal when people want to know more about the world they live in. But I don`t think that we should choose between exploring space or focusing on Earth's problems. Humanity doesn`t know all things both about the universe and the center of the Earth. So scientists can split up and study different problems.

3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I think one day it will happen. Most likely the colonization of space will begin with the Moon. The Moon is a sandbox to develop new technologies and use unlimited resources. It would start a new space race and lay the foundation for us to spread out into the solar system and beyond. It would create a lot of new technologies to benefit us on Earth.

What do you think about this great telescope?

I believe this telescope is one of the greatest achievements of space engineering. Over the past 30 years, the Hubble Space Telescope has brought particular value to the advancement of space exploration, while also impressing with its remarkable quality images. This telescope has given man new opportunities for astronomical observations. During its 30 years of operation, it has made one and a half million observations. It has transmitted images of stars, galaxies, nebulae, supernovae, planets and other bodies. This has given him a better understanding of how space structures and bodies are created and evolve.

How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?

I think we should focus more on the ecological protection of seas and oceans. In recent decades, unfortunately, these have been increasingly thinned and exploited by humans, and the garbage reaches the most remote depths. In addition, this area is little known. Only three people have reached the deepest place on Earth. This point is 11 km below its surface. And to the furthest point so far penetrated outside the Earth - the Moon. Twelve people have already arrived there.

are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?

I don't think that's possible so far. We lack technology
1. I didn't know that it has more than one camera, I like to watch photos made with this telescope very much, especially when i'm bored during lessons. They are amazing.

2. I think that's great. In my opinion we can find in space the answers for most of our problems on earth. Mayby it is crucial for preventing our extinction.

3. That is not possible in the nearest future, human body is not adapted to the conditions in space. Maybe we can get to Mars but I don't think it is a valuable planet.
Adam Tokarczyk said…
1. It's a great invention. I don't have big knowledge on space topics, but I'm sure it helped push research of space a lot further. Its successor James Webb surely is something needed though, as Hubble space telescope is already quite old.

2. We need to have more interest in space, because our Earth resources will run out sooner or later. Moreover I think there aren't too many things to discover on Earth, at least till we find a way to send sea expeditions capable of exploring ocean deeps.

3. We probably won't live long enough to behold such thing as fully working human settlements on different planets. It would be nice to be able to at least observe its development, so let's hope Musk manages to complete his plans.

What do you think about this great telescope?
One of the greatest inventions ever. It helped immensely in discovering many mysteries of our Universe.
How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
Fix Earth, that is first. Although neglecting Space for too long literally means death to humans as a civilization solely because Earth is not limitless. If we run out of resources to build spaceships and means to mine resources from other planets or asteroids, then we will be trapped here. Forever.
What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
It is an inevitable and even more -- crucial future. Either that -- or be trapped on this planet.
Interesting presentation. Answering your questions:

1. It's impressive. It really is an amazing work of technology that is constantly advancing. I'm just waiting for better telescopes.

2. I think that a lot of interest in space is very important. It helps us understand many things, discover the unknown. However, I think that we should focus more on problems on Earth, because they directly concern us (humanity). For example, we now have a coronavirus epidemic and no one in the world can handle it properly.

3. Settlements of humanity on other planets are a song of the future. If we can colonize the moon at this age, it will be a great success, but I don't think we can succeed.
1.What do you think about this great telescope?
I am fascinated with the technology behind it. I can't even belevie that we are able to see object that are so far away from us.

2.How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
Space expedition is future for all of us and in some point we should be ready to move to another planet as I think some earth resources will end in near future. I would like to be involved to such missions if I had an opportunity.

3.What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
As I said before I would like to be involved in such missions if it would be possible. It is really important for our future to make such expeditions.

1. I think it shows that we can do really futuristic projects together in any time period even 30 years ago if we want to. Yeah, a telescope that will be created in this century will be better, of course, and the telescope of 22th will be much more cooler too, but it is only because someone has done all previous versions.

2. I think these are parallel tasks. We should focus on Earth problems, research and development of ourselves as a species and space colonization. The future is in a specific combination of these things.

3. Definitely should and will be. First of all, it's a natural part of the expansion. Secondly, it's necessary for humans' surviving in the case of some planet-sized problems.

1. What do you think about this great telescope?

It is unimaginable that we are able to see things so far from us using the telescope. This telescope is amazing! It uses pictures taken from around the world and computer algorithms to create a 3D picture from each shot. This increases our understanding of the universe in a myriad of ways.

2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?

I am attracted to it. I hope to see an expansion in space science because of what we have gained there. Astronomy has opened up so many mysteries and it is a very interesting topic. It is not just about what we saw here on Earth - the researchers are now exploring areas of space which we can only dream about. I am very excited to learn about these and future new areas of research.

3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?

I don't think that's the actual goal. I think the closest system to earth and beyond is the super-Earth Betelgeuse which is a gas giant star. The differences between worlds that we know are habitable and habitable at any point in time or the extent to which we know worlds are habitable or not, it's one of those things, in my mind, that is the realm of scientific conjecture. We know very little about super-Earths or any kind of planets beyond that and we don't know very much about what the conditions are like outside of our solar system or the habitable zone.

1.
I remember watching in childhood a lot of outer space documentaries, where HST was the main hero. I think that it's contribution to science is inconceivable, but it's a little bit old, it turned 30 this year, so we should launch it's successor soon.

2.
I think that astronomy is an important science, that is relevant to us. NASA gets a relatively small budget from in comparison to the military the US government so it isn't overspend definitely. Funding it might help discover asteroids in collision path with Earth or other kind of dangerous phenomena.

3.
I would like to witness it in my lifetime, but it's not so sure. There are some claims from SpaceX that Mars colonisation is within our reach, but it's an bold claim. Nevertheless I would be excited if humans would be living on multiple planets.
What do you think about this great telescope?
Hubble Space Telescope is in my opinion one of the greatest pice of engeenering ever made by mankind. It allows us to look almost to the begginings of the universe and it expanded our understanding of the space we are live in. My favourite story of HST is when it was pointed to the darkest part of the universe and was making pictures of that for a couple of days (or even longer) and the output image has thousands of galaxies in it. The area on the night sky smaller than the grain of sand with thousand of unknown galaxies with milions of stars. Unimaginable.

How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
Earth problems are of course very important. Much more important than developing new space technologies. But as a civilization we are were we are because we have always wanted to improve, to develope newer, easier ways to do things and we shouldnt stop doing that.

What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
We are still so far from that point that in my opinion its still in sci-fi only. Im sure it wont happen during our lifetime and its hard to predict what the future brings.

1. What do you think about this great telescope?

A fantastic thing. I myself had such a smaller one and watching the moon or other stars is really fun. I write that I had it because it was stolen - but I will definitely buy a new one in the near future. I will buy it with a camera lens to take some photos.

2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?

Both earth and space need interest and often help. I think that we should be interested in both. What will happen when the Earth begins to "die"? We must escape into space.

3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?

Probably a cool thing, but how do we get into this space? Today, only completely healthy people fly. What about people with coronary heart disease, for example? Today they cannot go into space. What about them?
1 / Bring the mysteries of the universe up close for your inspection. Study the sun, the moon, the planets, stars, comets and much, much more with this great telescope!

2 / Cosmos is infinity - this is what we call dark matter. The airless space in which the planets, stars, etc. are located ... The end is emptiness, and the vacuum is vacuum between realities. And it can be small. The Universe is all that surrounds us.

3 / I think that everything is possible in this galaxy as well as in universes ...
1. What do you think about this great telescope?
It is simply amazing. You can see with this big chunk of our galaxy that was prior to this covered in darkness. I look forward to see telescope that exceeds this even more.
2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
I think when there is time of peace and stability, we for sure should study the space. By doing so we develop technologies that we could use in other part of our industries. Nowadays unfortunately we are in both financial and health crisis and we should first focus solve them.
3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I think this would be important and necessary next step in human evolution as the specious wise. We know that our existence on this planet isn’t infinite. Earth will collapse one way or the other and when the time comes, we need to be prepared to leave the planet and find some other to populate.

I think that this telescope is awesome. It is unbelievable that people are able to see things from sooooo far away, it’s just amazing. I think that it is important to know as much as we can about space. By now people know very little about space and its mysteries. I would say that future of human race is not on Earth, but it is in space. What are my thoughts about human settlements on other planets hmmm… I really hope so that I will be able to see it during my lifetime, probably not but one can still hope. If there would be any possibility to move from Earth to other planet, I would totally do it.
Hello, here are my answers to your questions!

1. I think that It's great piece of technology and a big achievement of science. It helped us solve many of mysteries regarding the universe and is still doing so to this day.

2. I don't think that there is such a great Focus on space. People always looked for the stars, and still are striving to reach them. Problems on Earth are tackled by different scientists, and they do keep up the good work in developing solutions to our problems. What's more, you have to keep in mind, that progress in one field on science, usually means progress in other branches as well. For example pens were invented to help astronauts write in space, but now they are used in our everyday lives.

3. I believe that in the future we will colonize other planets. I don't know if I will live to see that though.

1. For now, there are better telescopes than Hubble, but I’m always impressed with how technology can revolutionize our lives, especially the beginnings are most interesting parts for me. Today's astronomy started from Hubble telescope so it’s a good point of technology history to start understanding human ambitions.
2. People need a big, unenforceable ideas. Conquering the space is one of the biggest we can even imagine. Maybe time travels can compete with that but still- thanks for our nature we can develop better technique and science.
3. That’s definitely our future> I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Elon Musk’s idea to conquer Mars. There is also another big program- 100 Year Start Ship, check it out – such a missions are amazing and paying attention to a rapid increase in the number of people all over the world- we would need another place to live.

I'm amazed with technology of the telescope. It's really hard to comprehend for me because I didn't expect some tool to allow us to see the galaxies and space overall. I understand why there is such a space interest. Space hides a lot of secrets and is unseen by a lot of people. Everyone wants to know if there is any aliens, planets that we can live on or how is it to walk on the moon. I was interested in planets and weather on them. The nature dangers that we have on earth are nothing compare to some other planets weather. When it comes to humans living on other planets I think it could work but It would be great if it was possible on a planet that has oxygen.

What do you think about this great telescope?
It's contribution to science is impressive. I think it's one of the greatest achievements of humanity.
How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
As long as it doesn't do any harm, we should still explore the space and try to discover it's nature. It's natural for humanity.
What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I think we should do more to take care of Earth so that we won't need at any time to settle on any other planet.
1. What do you think about this great telescope?
I think it is spectacular achievement to develop such a great thing. Moreover the Hubble Space Telescope is really professional device. I would like to learn more about it, because I love the everything about space.

2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
In my opinion the best solution is to find a perfect balance between those two things. I prefer to focus on space right now. We have great opportunities to discover it and we should use it. Of course we have to take care of our planet and don’t forget about things which surround’s us.

3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I don’t have idea, but I want to believe that there are some people somewhere else. Probably I would never find out if it is true, but maybe we will find a solution to contact with them.
1. I think Hubble is one the greatest achievement in history of austronomy. I used to read a lot about discoveries made by Hubble.
2. Of course, interest in space takes place. I think we should think not only about problems on Earth, but also about what is beyond the borders of our planet. Space is a part of our life and we should be interested and know what is happening there.
3. That is a question what I like. I used to read about it. It is very interesting idea. I think for sure we should try it. I have heard that there are some Earth analog planets where conditions for life is acceptable. I hope that it is our future and of course I would like to live up to that point.

It is not a machine, it is a piece of art. Its lenses are extraordinary and pictures made by this telescope give people the drive to aim higher! I really love Hubble telescope.

We should definitely think more about conquering space and about how we can gather all the resources that are flying nearby our planet. Put some bases on the Moon and start driiling and mining. There is whole another world for us to discover and it will be crucial in few decades to have it explored as we will have problems with accessability to water on earth - maybe connection with the Moon will help us with that problem.

I think that in next 100 years we will be occuping Mars, counting in millions of people. It is only a matter of time.
Thank you for your response! I agree with your opinion, as well as we have so many people working on different fields we will achieve some results in every field of science and eventually deal with all our problems. I think the speed, with which we research new technologies only increases, but when we will reach new planets it will get a significant boost.
Thank you for our opinion! I am not sure if you are 100% right. Because, when it was created there was a need in such object on the planet's orbit and who knows what will happen if all people who worked on it decided to postpone it to better times. It could be a story of never-ending postponing if know what I mean. Unfortunately, I don't know what future is waiting for Hubble, I hope it will be returned to Earth and placed in some museum, where everyone could see it. I think the question of drinking water/atmosphere/food is still under research and at some point in time, it will receive answers, which will help humanity to colonize new planets.

What do you think about this great telescope?
Yes, I already thought that this is one of the greatest things that were invented by man in the previous century. Since the telescope is already 30 years old and many media have written about it. At that time, the technologies that we possess today were not so popular. In the 90s, this was considered a miracle.

How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
It seems to me that the Space should also be explored and its new facets discovered, this allows all of humanity to advance and develop. Many things were invented for space travel. Therefore, we should be grateful to Space for many technologies.

What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I think this is not possible in the near future. This should take several hundred years. So far, humanity has not reached such a level.
What do you think about this great telescope?
In my opinion, this is a great invention in astronomy area that allows us to understand the Universe better.
How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
For sure, the interest in space is clear, I think, that in such way we are trying to find our place in the Universe, as we have already understood our place on the Earth. However, on our planet there are so many things that we still don't know, we have discovered only 1% of the ocean. Moreover, I think that we'll wind there something beyond our comprehension.
What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
Maybe in 150-200 years there would be a human colony on Mars, but I don't care about that.
Thank you for your comment! That's true. With the help of this telescope, we have discovered a lot of fascinated things and have proven some great theories. I hope one-day humanity will manage to solve all "Earth" problems and we will reach a new planet and it will start a new page in human history.
Thank you for taking time to response to this presentation! I agree with you. I also think colonization of space will start from Moon, it will some sort of a base maybe, from which humans will start their space journeys. I also think, that humanity can split its power to deal with both problem on the Earth and outside of it.

Something we can be really proud of. I'm not following the newest space-related discoveries but I'm sure Hubble telescope contributed to many of them.
2,How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?

Discovering the space is, in my opinion, one of the possible solutions to the current problem on Earth. These two go in parallel and I'm in favor to invest taxpayers money into this field

3.What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
Ah, question perfectly aligned with my answer to the second question. It is one of the possibilities of survival for human-kind, which personally just fascinates me. Having space entropy in mind and the slow velocity of new space discoveries it's probably something that only our grand-grand children will have the opportunity to hear and have a real talk about .

1. What do you think about this great telescope?
Considering its' age, the telescope is still useful despite newer technology achievements. Launching and usage of Hubble has moved our space exploration progress forward. Even though the Hubble space telescope has reached its' target we can still explore deeper into space until it stops working.
2. How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
I advocate interest in space, I wish we had more of it. This is why I like Elon Musk, he is trying to keep getting us out there when NASA has stopped trying. Sure, we should still focus on our problems on Earth, however, progress in technology will also change the way we think about other topics.
3. What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
Great idea, let us start settlements on other planets when we don't know how to sustain ourselves on Earth. However, with technological progress and a change in how we think might advance our civilization to the ideal Kardashev scale. We need to advance to an A type 1 civilization for this to work out. It would be very awesome if our progress had a boost of some sort so that I can see this happen in my lifetime.
Thank you for your opinion! Of course, without focusing on the ecology of our planet we won't achieve great results in all other fields, as bad ecology could cause a lot of problems. Nevertheless, I hope in the nearest future we will get needed technologies to colonize new planets.
Thank you for your response! Yeah, I also think so, that it's a great time to be alive besides those problems with COVID-19. I hope that one day some scientist will discover a great new resource on some planet/asteroid etc. which will result in a great boost in researchers/resource which are invested in this science field.
1. I think it's one of the most popular telescopes, thanks to the photos from this telescope our knowledge has expanded a lot and we were able to answer for a lot of questions.

2. In my opinion it's normal, humanity has always been interested in what is unknown, thanks to which we can also come to how we were created. I think we should find golden mean, these two issues are important.

3. I think it is inevitable, as soon as possible we should set up the settlement in case meteorite flew to the ground

1. This telescope was like a contact lenses for our planet to see into the void. Before this telescope we saw only blurry stuff and after it's launch we could finally fully appreciate the beauty and complexity of our Universe.

2. I am interested in space myself. I think it broadens one's perception of complex nature of reality, which by itself may affect life choices significantly . I would suggest for everyone to watch YouTube channel called "PBS SpaceTime". The content on this channel
peeks really deep into topics of physics of spacetime.

3. I think that though this idea is emphasized greatly in recent years due to Elon Musk hype, in reality it sill be nearly impossible to colonize dead planet with no life on it. Finding and getting to the planet harboring life is impossible as well in my honest opinion.

2. I like this interest of space and I share it too. I think that we should focus more on problems on Earth but this doesn’t mean that we should stop exploring space too.
3. Honestly, I don’t have strong opinion on that. I don’t think that settling on another planet will happen in close future if it will happen at all, maybe we shouldn’t focus this much on trying to take another planet.

1. Firstly I think It is great opportunity for humans to discover universes. There are lot inventions for which this telescope has allowed. Mostly they are from chemistry and physic. But during developed and maintenances telescope there were quite a few technologies which are tested and created.

2. I think it is about forward thinking. Maybe our childrens could fly freely to space. But looking on fact that first astronaut which will fly to the Mars has about eleven years, it's quite not possible for us to rule the galaxy during our lifetime. This terrifying news I have heard on Nasa Space Center during my holiday journey.

3. As I said, I will not be given to us to settle new planet. If we had been birth maybe fifty years later. But for now, our generation need manage Earth and only could invest on future travels.

I consider the telescope is very useful even we already have newer technology nowadays. It has great and powerful history behind itself.
How do you feel about such a great interest in space? Do you like it or maybe we should focus more on problems on Earth?
I think Space as well as Earth shout be discovered and nothing is more important since both of them are part of our galaxy. Many things were discovered and there is still place for development so we should follow and be grateful using new technologies.
What are your thoughts on human settlements on other planets?
I am sure that that our planet isn’t infinite as our lives also. We need to be prepared to change the planet but also the curiosity should push us to explore new planets to take up residence there. This idea actually is quite crazy and exiting when I think that humans would be living on multiple planets.

2. I think it is very important to try to understand and to discover the unknown. Maybe the future of the Earth and people lays in this knowledge.
3. It is a very thrilling thought for me, however it still seems quite far away from the times we live in.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
