Week 12 [13-19.06.2016] Poland through my eyes.

I see that Poland is an amazingly beautiful country and very different from Egypt where I come from. The first thing that I’ve noticed was the green color around me. It was spring, the smell of flowers filled my nose, this is why spring is my favorite season in Poland. It’s amazing that in Poland we have different seasons, maybe this will sound funny to you but in Egypt we have only one season-- summer , which is very warm and sunny.  It rains twice  a year and the minimum temperature  is +12 degrees Celsius.

And in Poland !!
Spring- full of wonderful smells, fresh green,  and everything comes back to life.
Summer has colors of orange and yellow, both of them reminds me of sun and ripening fruits.
Autumn feels like rainbow colors, the leaves on the trees magically fall at my feet.
And winter reminds me a soft blanket that hugs me all around, crystal clarity in a shade of white that was previously unknown to me, for me it’s magic.

Poland is an amazing country, I would like to share with you my memories from places which I have visited and loved at first sight.

The first place is Bialowieza (Białowieża)

I have had pleasure to sleep on the train which the Tsar of Russia travelled to his castle in Bialowieza. The impression is wonderful, the hotel is located at the last train station  called Bialowieza, they transformed the Tsar’s waiting room into a wonderful restaurant. When you enter the restaurant,  you feel like traveling back in time with the old Russian music in the background.  The food there is delicious; I have eaten venison for the first time, which is delicious .

And the tea brewed according to the old Russian recipes in the old Russian samovar.

The wildlife surrounded me there, it’s difficult to describe it, breathtaking, totally a magical, ,beautiful and majestic place. I've never seen such large trees and so many mushrooms around.

Of course I have seen bisons, unfortunately, in captivity and in the wild, I had pleasure of meeting a green viper, which was equally surprised.  J.

Bieszczady

Another magical place in Poland, I have been there only once but I know that I will go there again. I lived in a small house, not far from the forest where you could meet deer.
Our hostess told us that sometimes bears appear around her house, but unfortunately I didn’t have meet a bear.

Walking through the mountains was an amazing experience. I was at the top of the highest mountain in Bieszczady, I didn’t know where I should look, I just stood there open-mouthed, I felt like at the top of Mont Everest. At the end of the trip it was foggy. I will never forget that sight and the smells floating in the air.

Mazury

Something beautiful, calm water, a pier, the sun, omnipresent peace and quiet, forest and beautiful nature around you.
I was in Stare Jabłonki, I stayed in a house in a forest, by a lake. I felt like in the Amazon jungle, wildlife around me, the birds singing, I could stay all day there and sit on the pier and watch  water.
Swimming in the cold lake wasn’t a good experience for me.
In the evening we had a campfire and baked delicious potatoes.
Mazury is my favorite place in Poland.

Finally something different than e-sport, vr or technology. I appreciate your point of view about our country but to be honest I disagree with you. I don’t like this country because of uncountable number of reasons, but travelling here is one of the worst things ever. Maybe it is because PKP and my great journeys in my childhood. I had occasion to show a foreigner our country, mainly Warsaw and Krakow because of lack of time it is was very hard. The person was from Turkey where I was impressed with huge amount of places that were amazing, also bars, shops, clubs and everything. After that knowing where this person lives it was embarrassing for me to show were I do live.

I am not proud of my country and I don’t like to travel here. Of course I like places that are important for me because of family, friends or just memories. But there is nothing I miss when I am in different countries. If I had to show a foreigner something here I would definitely show Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk and maybe Spoot. But for people who travel often it is obvious that showing polish beach is ridiculous. I don’t know anything interesting here after spending my whole life, even very popular things like king castle are not so beautiful like in other countries.

It is great that you like Poland! Recently I have been thinking that we (as Polish people) tend to focus on travelling around the world, because it is fancy (and it is, don't get me wrong) and sometimes we forget that we have such a great country, and many places to see just near us. I think that if I were to show Poland to foreigner I would focus on rural areas and our forests, as mentioned before Białowieża. I am proud on my country and I just can't wait for holidays to wander around and explore places in my home country that I have never visited.

Oh my God, what is this about with this topic? :P
Of course I’m proud of my country. It is obvious. The best place in Poland is my homeplace - Iłów. Small village, but there are everything what I need. There are: Wisła, many forests and grassland. There is a place where I completely relax. I love this place for it.

Yeah, I agree that Poles travel abroad much more than in-country. Since historical circumstances prevented a lot of people from doing that, now we seem to be making up for the lost time.

I don't travel around Poland either, but I have my reasons: I decided that I want to see as much of the world as I can for as long as I can afford to do it, meaning, as long as I don't have a steady job and a family of my own. Poland is slightly cheaper (though not as much as one might expect) and kinda will always be there, so I can explore it more later on in life.

I'm not terribly patriotic, so Poland is to me like any other country, just closer, but those are beautiful words, you wrote about it :) I will definitely remember to see some of those places in my travels.
I used to visit Stare Jablonki quite a lot as a kid and I think I know the exact place where was the photo taken. I generally really like Mazury. Lots of lakes, forests and outdoor activities that go with them.

Glad that you enjoy our country. I guess your enthusiasm is fueled by how completely different it is from Egypt (which has been also an advantage for Polish tourists going to your country). I also don't see why some people are ashamed of their own country, but that's a more complicated topic.

I really appreciate your topic of presentation. I like Poles who are proud of our country. As it said the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. A lot of people writing excitedly about e.g. Italy or many countries but often they didn't see many places in Poland. At the beginning of this year I visited few cities in Italy - Florence, Piza, Bolonia, Siena, St. Gimignano, Lucca and the others, and what can I say about this cities is... nothing special. Of course I admired antique buildings and beautiful green vineyards but I think that our villages are equally beautiful. We don't appreciate it because we have it everyday for the asking. I am proud of Poland and I like my country in meaning place (because living conditions and government are not the best and ideal). If I could show something in Poland to a foreigner I'll show for sure Tatry mountains with Zakopane and Wroclaw the most :) Perhaps it's not the most beautiful places in our country but I've weakness for it.

I have to say it's always really nice to hear someone from abroad say nice things about Poland. The national pride is kind of a tough subject for me. I'm half Polish, but I consider myself just Polish. Probably I wouldn't feel that way if my parents made a different decision. Despite that I love this country. It's flawed, not really something to be proud of at the moment, but I don't feel like leaving it behind - my point being I don't see how anyone could be proud of a country. Love it, make it better, don't take pride in a piece of land.
Now to the less philosophical subject ;) What would I show to a foreigner. Depends on what kind of trip said foreigner expects. For example I think there are beautiful forests in Poland so for someone who's close to nature that could be a good thing. For someone interested in history the many castles obviously, bigger and smaller ones, there's plenty of them and they're all really interesting. For someone who likes cities I'd recommend Gdańsk, Wroclaw, Warsaw, Cracow for example.
Personally I was very impressed by Malbork, a big piece of Polish-Teutonic history, definitely worth seeing.

Of course I'm really proud of my country. I think that almost every Pole should be proud. I think that the most beautifull place in Poland is Zakopane. It's just because I really like mountains and skiing. Place that touched my heart the most is Mazury. When I was a child, I went for a 4-day holiday to Mazury. It was occuring during summer. Of course when We reached our destination, the weather just spoiled. So my holiday was like sitting next to the TV, I'm not sure but with 4 working channels, because it was raining all the time. Worst holidays ever...

I am proud of my country and i think i would take them to Góry Świetokrzystkie, and Bieszczady of course. The place that impressed me the most was Biebrzański Park Narodowy, I dont know why but there was something magical in that place :P

That was so cool to read your post! I think we are just so used to the place we live and we can't notice anymore how beautiful it is. I realised how different Poland is from your country and how breathtaking it could be for someone who has never seen so much green, or snow, or seasons... It's exactly how Egypt was breathtaking for me - it was all so different – culture, views, everything... Really, thank you for sharing your thoughts, it is very inspiring :) Mostly to remind that we are so lucky to live here! :D

You asked about recommendations - I am quite sure you have visited very beautiful places so far, but during winter YOU HAVE to go skiing / snowboarding <3 it is something absolutely worth time (you need some time to learn it, but you won't ever experience anything similar to it if you don't give it a try :D )

Have you moved to Poland for a longer time? How long do you live here? Or are you from some student exchange programme?

I think I'm proud of my country, but I forgot about it in everyday life.
When I read this question and think about it, I can say that I really love this country.
Warsaw the most - because I was born here and spend there most of the time.
I also like Cracow and Mazury lakes there are really beautiful views.

I live in Poland for 10 years and I study and work at the same time :)

It's very accurate thing to say about seasons in Poland - all-inclusive. Spring, summer, winter and fall whether we like it or not. I guess few of us could do just fine without winter. I would like to give you some destinations to go to, but you seem to have seen all three destination I particularly wanted to advice. Although if you have not seen the western part of Poland I would like to recommend lower Silesia. Especially Wroclaw which is one of my favorite cities in Poland. Of course second to Warsaw but it's still very nice mix of history, entertainment and nature. Shame it's summer because while visiting Wroclaw you can go to mountains, I can't really recall the name of ski resort, but there is one that have alpine-like climate. No longer than 2 hours from Wroclaw.

Are you proud of your country?

Sometimes yes but i don't think i could call it "proud". Maybe more suitable word would be i have a sympathy for Poland :)

What would you show to a foreigner in your country?

BESKIDY! The very small but sweet and beautiful mountains!

Describe a place that touched your heart or imagination the most.

In Poland it is my chill-house neighbourhood in Beskidy. All the area is very important to me and i have incredible memories there

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
