Week 10 [17.12-23.12.18] Amateur rocketry

I would like to introduce you Joe Barand – the amateur rocketry who left his background in music production and started his YouTube channel where he talks and shares about building the rockets. So far, his channel has 33 thousand subscribers.


The first time I watch the following video, I was extremely inspired by his passion. I hope you will have similar feelings. Enjoy watching.

I think that our planet is flooded with geniuses. Seriously. There are so many fields of study that everyone can master. I think we should develop some platform for contributors in development for projects like this, with rockets. This may well be complicated since everybody is located worldwide spread and might not have access to the materials needed.
I also have a passion. And despite little time and resources... Money in short, I still try to devote myself to it as much as I can.

Yes I have a hobby and this hobby is quadrocopter and this is amazing on my opinion. I like to fly in the sky without limits look at the world around from bird point of view :) Also there interesting part of this hobby is to build quadrocopter or modernize it to fit my requirements. I think that people like Elon Musk can change the space industry :) but I believe that exist a lot of talented humans on earth that can do something great for us. Usually I'm alone in my interests because I have no friends that can do something similar that I do.

I am into a Warhammer 40000. It's a huge universe that includes books with versatile lore, tabletop wargame and a lot of other different tabletop games. It also includes some video games, but we don't talk about most of them.
I think, his guy has all the possibilities to change the space industry. He has a passion, he knows, how to develop his skills, he knows his goals.
My dad has a passion for history. I've listened his stories about different times and different peoples since I was able to understand the meaning of them. He has huge library, which includes regular and e-books and I sometimes ask him what book can I read to get familiar with this or that.

My passion is filming. What I like filming most are travel videos. What I've learned is that filming is not about the gear you have but about the story you want to tell. I like the fact that I decide how the shot looks like and I can do whatever I want.
In my opinion, people like Joe can change the space industry. Such passion can lead to new awesome ideas and solutions that may bring a lot to in this space travel.
I share my passion with friends and family showing them the final result of my work. Unfortunately, none of my closest friends and family members have the same passion as I, so I always do it all by myself.

My passion is music. I play on drums and i enjoy it. Nowadays i don't have so much time for my hobby, because i have to work and study, but when i was in high school i used to drum a lot and even i composed some songs.
i think what with a great passion and hard work you can accomplish whatever you will dream about (expect flying with bare hands, you can't do that and some people proved that). My father also likes music, but he don't play on anything. Sometimes we like to listen to some good music on vinyl.

Awesome hobby! People like Joe are changing our World for the better. Thanks to such people engaged in what they really like, we have such a technical process. And the space industry is not an exception. All great discoveries begin with a hobby, and probably at some stage this turns into a serious matter. Of course, it’s thanks to people like Joe that the space industry is changing. Unfortunately, I have no hobbies that I share with my parents. In general, I have them, but lately I have been devoting little time to this. I would like more.

I totally agree with you. We need the platform that would bring together such people like Joe. One person, can't be the expert in every field. Sharing responsibilities between people would for sure speed up the process of (in this case) building the model rocket and what's more important share the knowledge.

It's a very interesting hobby. Are you racing with the quadrocopters or is it just a calm flying? I have never flown a drone, but I would love to try. I am afraid it's not a cheap toy and I can't afford it in the nearest future.

If you enjoy watching the world from a birds point of view, you should try gliding. It will give you a mix of happiness, freedom, and adrenaline!

Do you upload your films? Can you share them with us? I enjoy watching this kind of films. If they are properly filmed and assembled it can give the viewer the feeling that he was there.

You should find some time to play the drums if it's the thing that you love. When I was little I used to play piano, but without practice over the years, I completely forgot how to play. Now I regret...

I have few passions, but unfortunately none of them is so advance as Joes passion. I am interesting in neural networks, but currently I have so much activities that I can’t properly focus on it. I think that, when I will be older, after studies, I will focus much more on neural networks.
I think that people like Joe are essential to changing anything. Of course, some fields of study require solid knowledge, but you can always learn, it is never too late for it. In case of space industry, huge progress was made because of Wernher von Braun, who was also building amateur rockets before the war, and he was able to develop things which other thought to be impossible.
I share some interests with my dad. We both like history, especially world war ii, and we both like to spend time outside, for example hiking.

I had a few hobbies but now I'm more focused on teaching myself to write software using the latest technological trends in software development.
I've only noticed it know but Joe kinda looks like Elon Musk's younger cousin :) Of course, I do believe that people like Joe would bring innovations into the space industry. This guy seems to have a lot of passion and engagement in what he does. I only wish good luck for him!
Not everything, but I share many of my interests with my friends.

The hobby is a hobby which the person receives since the childhood. It can appear at any age, but it is the best of all to receive since the childhood. All of us do some work according to our interests which can give us happiness and joy which are called a hobby. Some people have different hobbies on interests, likes and dislikes. There are many types of a hobby which we can develop such as dances, singing, drawing, game in the room or on the street, observation of birds, collecting antiques, the photo, the letter, food, reading, sport, a game, gardening, music, television, etc. Our hobbies help us with choice of profession and at creation of successful career. The hobby is what we can enjoy completely in free time. My hobby is a listening of music and gardening, but I always prefer gardening.

2. I don't think that Joe will have an influence on the space industry but it is still good that people like him exists because he shows us the basis of how rockets works. Nice video!

As shallow as it may sound, probably my biggest passion are computer games. I enjoy playing them, I enjoy picking them apart trying to figure out what makes them work, I enjoy making my own. I consider them an art medium of the new age, capable of telling fascinating stories that engage players in ways that no book or movie could ever before. A new form of entertainment that will very soon be everywhere – that’s why I’m seeking career in this field. I strongly believe that people who think of money make money, but it’s the people with drive and a passion for a given subject that bring forth the progress and expand the ever growing sum of human knowledge. Regrettably my parents are not as invested into computers on the whole as I am, but I still manage to have some interesting conversations with them about my passions.

I've always been interested in electronics. I always made some small devices that read the temperature, then I was constructing something more complicated like
driving a remote-controlled car.
I think people like Joe will contribute to the development of the "space industry".
I always share my interests with my parents and receive support from them :)

I like to create IoT stuff like smart bulbs or automated watering system, but it's much easier than launching a rocket into space.

I think people like Joe ARE changing the space industry. Engineers and dreamers are pushing this world forward. I really appreciate what Joe do.

Do you share any interests with your parents, especially dad?

No I don't. My parents are more conservative than I am :)
