Week 14 : Paper gold.

Paper gold.

Everyone I know collected anything as a child. I also collected comic books, Pokemon cards and many more. When I was child I did not care if my great collection will gain value. I treasured it a lot but I took many pictures of my Pokemon cards before I gave it all to orphanage because I did not find joy in it. Few years later  I checked Pokemon cards price and I made list of cards I had. I was shocked. It turns out that my collection was worth seven hundred dollars. I was so amazed about that discovery that I made up my mind to start collecting things again. I chose Magic: the Gathering cards which I played at that time as well as pen & paper role-playing games.

Beginning
I was on semi-pro level in Magic: the Gathering environment. I played good with medium results on competitive scene in Warsaw. I had small binder of cards but I used only to trade for more expensive ones as add-ins . So my quest as a collector had a harsh start. I also faced financial problems so I sold my entire collection and gave up Magic: the gathering for few months until I bought one booster pack and opened 20-dollar card. I saw that as a sign : “Return to collecting!”. After I bought few cards and new binder to store cards I created new habit of mine : I check value cards price online every day and check trends on competitive play scene… Here are the cards I find most valuable because of language, age or edition :

Card in upper right corner ( foiled Worldwake edition Jace, the Mind Sculptor ) is the most expensive in my collection and is worth 300 USD I was able to buy it for 50 USD.

My adventure with role-playing games started when my older brother brought home book titled “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Podręcznik gracza” in 1994. He was very excited and told me all rules. In addition he brought along one treasure. At that time having die any other than six-sided was luxury because of its hard accessibility . I remember that my brother brought also ten, eight and four-sided dice along with that rule book. We were quite content of that. After he went to Olsztyn to study on university I took his role-playing books. I have them up to today because they represent other value in comparison to my Magic: the Gathering cards. In following years I bought all Dungeons & Dragons book available on polish market and few other titles which are quite rare. I stopped buying role-playing games books because I had no time to play both games ( Magic and RPG ) so I chose magic. I read those books to recall all good memories and to write adventures waiting for me.

How do You start? Three rules of collecting.
Nowadays there are many sources of collectibles. You can use ebay or allegro to buy stuff You want to collect and simply buy them. You need to know one important rule of collecting valuable things. You need to predict about price and accessibility. If product is new and has very limited run You should buy it as first because it will gain value in time. If You want to buy something that is older you need to be patient. For example buying comic books can be very deceiving. Internet can offer You both prices: low or incredibly high. In few cases it is better to go to specific shop selling goods You’re interested in and buy them on medium price.
Next thing worth consideration is fact of usage. Do You intend to use product. I buy cards because I can play with them and have fun of it. When You buy originally sealed products opening can ruin it’s value. For example Detective Comics ( first Batman series ) from 30s and 40s are worth from 5000 USD up to 35 000 USD. It depends on condition. But You can be sure about one thing : it will gain value in next 10 years.
Last thing about collecting is grading and using organizations who grades valuable things. You can add value to your product if it is graded by professional and reliable company. You can use that to make sure that You have original product ( counterfeits are very popular in collectible business ). Grading costs a lot and takes time and after having Your product graded You will not use it afterwards because it becomes sealed in plastic case which is not reusable when You open it.
Knowing these three things You can call Yourself prepared for collecting J

Know-how in card grading ( not only Magic cards ) :

I have few questions for You :
  1. Do You collect or collected anything?
  2. Would You consider becoming professional or semi-professional collector?

My adventure with collecting I’ve started with Star Wars coins, which were added to crisps (I think it was about 1997). Surprisingly I successfully collect all of them and made album. Of course after this, there came age of paper cards to role play, Pokemon's and Magic the Gathering (I have mainly the first of these and like the others in my age I addicted to bought small packages with random cards). Hopeful this collectibles collections are survived to these days and I could remember my childhood times. Maybe it’s strange, but today I use to collect since five years ZTM tickets.
Do I professional collector? I think no, because I don't collect something with this same involvement and enthusiasm how some collectors can do.

Man! I still have this album with star wars coins! of course i have all of them. After this i was collecting note papers, pokemon cards, magic the gathering cards ( also played form time to time). Whem i was older i started collecting new era cups, but i was a bit too expensive so i stoped at like 20 of them. I love collecting interesting staff. But u need money to be a collectioner. As for now i am collecting books and board games ( it's a lot of fun in a computer age) and compuer games on my steam account :) My grandfather is collecting coins and stamps. I am curious is it worth anything by now.

Same as guys above me. There were just too much amazing things to collect when we were kids, like "tazosy". Right now I don't collect anything anymore. The magic just fade away. From what I had I only keep my magic the gathering cards which I use to play with my friends from time to time.
I don't think I could be a great collector. I didn't really collect all those things to have full collection or such. I gathered it because I liked to play with it.

"Tazosy" with pokemon and Star Wars were amazing ( with SW ones You could build simple constructions ). As I noticed from Your answers all of collecting part happened in past. I recommend trying to collect relics of the childhood. Sometimes it can ignite a spark of collector.

As you probably know I'm collectiong coca-cola cans I have about 250 of different cans and most of them are origianly closed. The Most valuable one is about 20 year old (and yes - it is still colsed and have cola in it). I have never considered myself as professional or even semi-professional collector I just like to have them, clean them and look at my small collection.

I know it will sound strange, because I'm collector even if I don't want to admit it, but for me collectiong something is risky. You are spending your money on something which don't have any value. The value of such old comic is defined only by the buyer and the buyer don't need it to survive. It is not cure for cancer or something to eat it is just piece of paper, which someone thinks is nice to have. What I want to say is any collection is worth as much as someone want to give for it.
Ah yes, collecting stuff sure seemed like a popular thing back in the days. I had a small collection of cactus plants, but one thing that I was really passionate about as a kid were the Pokémon cards. I collected them for a long, long time and was serious about it. Of course I stopped and some point, mainly because nobody from the people around me knew how to play the actual card game. I guess that collecting only for the fun of collecting wasn't enough for me. Anyhow, today I don't really collect anything nor I would consider becoming a collector.

Do You collect or collected anything?
Nope. rocks when i was like 4 or 5.
Would You consider becoming professional or semi-professional collector?
Not really my type of thing to do.
Since I don't really have any insight in this I'll post this:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Pellentesque faucibus viverra vulputate. Donec elementum magna dapibus, condimentum sem tempus, interdum ipsum. Donec gravida tempor ante non tristique. Proin vehicula eros eu urna dictum, vel mollis turpis condimentum. Nulla sed aliquam arcu
I used to play Magic The Gathering a lot when i was In high school. Sadly nowadays I have no time for a hobby like this. I never considered myself as a collector. I just played for fun nothing else. Of course I used to compete in tournaments ( especially those pre-release ones) but never considered myself a professional player. I never collected cards I just bought (or exchange) the ones I needed to complete my deck. In time I decided ( or rather life decided for me) that it’s time to give up this hobby of mine so I sold my card collection. I kept only FOIL cards as a souvenir from old times.

I have never collected anything and I don’t think that will change in the future. I know that spending money on some collection that can have great value in the future would be a reasonable decision but I never felt the need of collecting anything. Other thing is that I rarely have some extra funds for such expenses. I rather spend some money on good bock, so maybe you can call me a book collector. I really begin to have difficulties in finding place to store new books. I tried to switch to e-books but I guess that in that case I’m a bit old fashion but I just like to feel the touch and smell of paper.

1. Do You collect or collected anything?

I used to play Magic: The Gathering with some expensive cards, but then I switched to making money instead of spending it :)

2. Would You consider becoming professional or semi-professional collector?

No, I don' think so. I'd rather focus on creating stuff that other people would like to collect :)

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
